The 229th Russian Special Infantry Brigade (Russian: 229-я российская отдельная стрелковая бригада) is an enemy faction that can be found in the raid game mode within the XNDUIW community. It is one of several antagonistic factions within this specific game type, considering that it is a branch of the Russian Armed Forces within the community which is also an enemy faction as well. The group is operated by the Russian Ministry of Defense (MVD). Members of the faction have been alleged to have committed war crimes, especially when they were implicated in several incidents within the Eastern theatre of conflict itself.
Many members of the Ukrainian community, along with various heroes within the XNDUIW community have openly denounced the faction's acts, and it's alleged war crimes, considering that they were responsible for many of the incidents around the XNDUIW community involving it's Russian-speaking population itself. What is deeply concerning about the faction, is that they have extremely high numbers, which was a great issue, considering that they operated as infantry.
Overview[]
This faction is considered a hostile faction, especially due to the fact that members of the Ukrainian community in Calgary have demanded that the Russian Federation be called a "terrorist state", as they have been somewhat engaged in war crimes as well. Some of the members have been affiliated with OMON (XNDUIW) or other Russian Spetsnaz units respectively, making them a villainous faction within the XNDUIW storyline as well. This is very important to know, considering that soldiers who work for this faction are enemy military personnel in-game, and as such, should be treated as enemy NPCs.
Like with other enemy factions which are generally involved, soldiers affiliated with the faction will target and attack the player, which can be apparent, given the circumstances of their equipment. There are several classes of soldiers who work for this faction, such as standalone infantry soldiers and especially gunners as well, as members of this faction have violated international law related to war itself within the XNDUIW community. The faction has been sanctioned by members of the international community, as soldiers who work for this unit are pretty much hostile to the player and will also target friendly personnel as well.

Abductions and forced disappearances[]
Agents affiliated with this faction abducted innocent children, and forcibly made several innocent civilians "disappear", where they would often end up in penal colonies under the already repressive and authoritarian regime of Vladimir Putin. This explains why this faction might be involved in hostage rescue raid missions, considering that these characters have no regard towards the well-being and livelihoods of innocent civilians. This would be apparent, as such actions are widely condemned within the international community, considering that once they have managed to abduct and take friendly civilian hostage, they would then issue them misleading propaganda and misinformation which was made by the Kremlin.
The faction has been involved in kidnappings, as victims who were targeted by this faction were often brainwashed, and agents affiliated with this group wouldn't hesitate to use torture by specific means as well, which would eventually become a great concern within the context of armed conflict, particularly the raid game mode within the XNDUIW community as well. As this faction had been known to take hostages, heroic individuals, or the player(s) themselves are tasked with rescuing individuals who have been kidnapped or abducted by this faction as well, considering that the group has engaged in illegal human trafficking.
Mass homicide[]
Since the faction is affiliated with the Kremlin, the faction has engaged in mass homicides, considering that this faction was generally involved in all sorts of genocidal acts towards civilians. This would become apparent, as this is treated as a war crime on it's own right, considering that this group has also been involved in massacres. Many high ranking generals affiliated with the faction were easily known to have committed acts of indiscriminate killings, especially when their activities were actually widely condemned and extremely frowned upon by members of the international community as well, sparking allegations against the faction which were confirmed by internet sleuths.
It's been reported that this faction had also engaged in extrajudicial killings against civilians, which would be illegal under international law as well, yet the agents were not convicted of these heinous acts, just fired. This came to light from defectors and refugees, considering that this faction is strongly supportive of Kremlin policies, making this faction extremely dangerous. It's been apparent that the faction caused the deaths of numerous people, since there were reports of agents affiliated with this faction actually targeting and killing civilians on the spot in active warzones simultaneously, which sparked international condemnation. This became a serious concern, as the faction's agents would not show any guilt or remorse for their violent acts simultaneously, as victims were reportedly tortured before some of them were killed in the process through several illegal means too within the storyline as well.
