You are an obnoxious little thing. A fleshy pulp in the way of my plans. To call you a God in itself is blasphemy to myself. When will you understand that you are NOTHING. An unessentiality. A pain. A pathetic plasm of shit devoted to rooting out my followers...a hopeless, powerless waste of potential. Your father died. Your mother died. Your precious little sex toy died. And yet, you refuse to follow suit. Ahh....it no longer matters. I have won. I have undone every ounce of progress you have strived for. Every sacrifice you have made is now irrelevant. You will join your friends in the Sarlacc Pit you semi-mortals refer to as Hell. Every pain that your ancestors have brought to me in an attempt to strip me of my individuality has only made me stronger, as I have learned to adapt. To survive. But you...you fall onto your individuality. Your pray to it. You craaave it. And once it is taken away from you, the weapon within you will finally be unleashed. Killing me. Killing you. Killing everyone. And I must say...I think I'm going to enjoy it.
~ APD's most notable monologue to Herr
Order is such a pitiful thing. It seeks to control every aspect of an individual's life, only to decimate them in their worst moments. It forces them into a system where work and obedience are praised, but hates when others follow suit. It's remarkable...haha...that you, you STUPID FUCKING INSULIN, would sacrifice everything to keep that "order". Or maybe it's because of some ill-bred sense of righteousness. We'll never know. Your people disgust me. Your morals bore me. Your hypocrisy is pathetic. So, I'll say this to you: give me one reason why your people are essential, one reason why they deserve mercy after everything they have destroyed, and I'll let them keep their lives. Unless you can't. Then in that case...brace yourself.
~ APD
Come on, COME ON!! Let's get on with it. Kill her, Dare. Kill them all. Make them know that they have no say over you anymore.
~ APD tempting Dare to slaughter his Caretakers
Rejoice, Herr! It appears you have outlived all of your friends.
~ APD to Herr after slaughtering his loved ones

⌇☍⏃⟟⏃⟟, known most notably as APD, Charru, Victor Littleton, Skai, or by his alter-persona BPD, is the sadistic god of the cryptic and unknown and the main antagonist of the notorious FANDOM webseries Sidequest created and written by HeresJosh. Once an introverted embodiment of darkness and creativity, Skai was stripped of all resemblance of his past-self by his brothers, leaving him broken and encoded with a twisted moral philosophy that logic was the enemy of all creation. Operating under the name APD, Skai embraced his role as the God of The Void and butchered all but one of his relatives, who fled through an Omniversal Gateway. For unknown reasons, APD excommunicated himself to a the Backstages where he resided for the near entirety of the Sidequest series, orchestrating events to his liking.

Though originally a gentle, mute god of creation, APD dominated the Backstages with an iron fist, slaughtering the native species and mocking the indigenous people's worship of a Death God under the belief that Death is what keeps the Triverse grounded in reality. As ruler of the Backstages, APD gave life to the GOLEMS and began recreating the string of dimensions in his own, horrific image. He revealed to the Myriad King that he intended the Backstages to be a place where "torturing children and widows is the social normality." He began experimentation with a science combing pride and reason (later to be known as eugenics) which he infested into the human mind, effectively corrupting it.

APD rarely attempts to justify his cruel methodology, even to his own subjects. Instead, he encourages pride in the hatred of all things human (another concept he had created through trail and error). APD was directly responsible for such events as the creation of the Myriad King, numerous counts of genocide, the use of New Orleans foster children in twisted psychological and physical experiments, the decimation of the natives entire religion, and multiple counts of universal consumption, all of which he keeps hidden from the outside world through the curtains of the Backstages.

In his APD facade, Skai is presented as somewhat deluded, taking pride in his role as a "scientist" and a "master of puppets." He envisions humans and species in their likeness as puppets gifted to him by fate, which he can manipulate, extort, and exploit any way in which he pleases. He detests all things resembling humanity as he believes them to be obstacles in his path to "liberating" the universe from logic, even when his "liberation" methods are more barbaric than anything humanity could ever produce.

The Cryptic God's motivations are somewhat understandable, though his/its primary goals are completely indistinguishable, as he often changes goals and motives based on his current persona. As APD, Skai wishes to exploit his brother's creations for his own advantage and experiment with his own abilities of creationism in hopes of releasing the Ultimate Threat. As his chaotic, irrational BPD persona, Skai seeks to find Herr (one of his early descendants) and detonate the Ultimate Weapon his brothers had hidden within him in hopes of destroying all life, including himself.

As he operates from the security of the Backstages for a majority of the Sidequest franchise, APD often administers his will through the Myriad Empire, a massive, primordial empire spanning through numerous Multi-Universes and with the largest assembly of military forces in the Triverse, rivaled only by the Coalition lead by The Emperor. The Myriads were, under Skai's jurisdiction, responsible for many atrocities, such as massacring foreign citizens, ethnic cleansing rituals, and even drugging an entire legion of their own men during a campaign against the Coalition to "preserve resources". The Myriad Acherons (the backbone of the empire's armed forces) consists of thousands of alien, mech, and cybernetic forces, and even make use of APD's failed procedures (an example being the Swarms).

Despite numerous divine abilities he was either created with or acquired for himself, APD is largely unable to actually leave the Backstages, and has only a loose influence outside of it up to the Chapter Three (though he is able to create loose avatars). APD has also occasionally corrupted host bodies to increase his own strength in the Outer, though this attempt is often short-lived. Although the two personas DO occasionally overlap, their intentions, personalities, and even trains of moral thought appear completely conflicting. This was best shown at the series finale where APD, in an attempt to sanction his life, attempts to stop BPD from detonating the Ultimate Weapon. They are both ultimately killed regardless of his attempts.

APD's true powers are (as in most cases) somewhat incomprehensible to the human mind. His true, unfathomable power comes in the form of The Red, which he rarely chooses to unleash as it makes him vulnerable to psychic and physical attacks from the outside. What IS known is that APD holds near-complete control over the Backstages, and is often shown being capable of manipulating the surrounding environment in any which way he pleases. He has decimated both universes and celestial minds, a feat which even Herr has been shown incapable of completing. He also retains some amount of influence over the elements, such as darkness, fire, discord, hatred, wrath, and illness.

As well as the main Sidequest storyline (which can be accessed and read on FANDOM through character and story articles), APD poses as a notable threat in numerous other fictional storylines, sometimes overlapping with the antagonistic forces of Multiversal Legends, such as Nekrozoth. He was created by HeresJosh and Adie98.

Personality[]

APD Persona[]

In contrast to other celestial beings, Skai always possessed a certain twisted darkness within him, though it began as only an innocent desire to bring life into the universe and express his creativity. During the early centuries following his initial creation, Skai appeared somewhat prideful in his works and believed himself to be above his brethren. This pride ultimately lead to his descendants into madness as his brothers decided on putting him in his place, tormenting and destroying his creations. Following this, Skai remained to himself and simply endured the torment, losing himself in fantasies of revenge and the creation of an "ultimate weapon." Even in his youth, Skai remained somewhat innocent and never thought himself truly capable of speaking for himself.

Following his "transformation" into APD, Skai sought to destroy all signs of his past, including his personality. APD is thoroughly sadistic, manipulative, calculating, inexorable, prideful, narcissistic, and destructive. Rather than seeking joy through creation, APD seeks it through destruction, caring little for the humanoid victims he torments and often slaughters. He is unable to cope with the reality that his brothers are stronger than him in nearly every aspect and he only managed to kill many of them in a stroke of luck. Because of this, APD often obsessed with finding and psychologically abusing their descendants.

As shown through the entirety of chapters one to two, APD takes pleasure in the misery of others and often operates in the background. He has orchestrated numerous conflicts (such as the creation of The Swarm and the rise of Maelstrom) from the security of the Backstages in hopes of activating the Ultimate Weapon, his one true obsession. Unlike his BPD counterpersona, APD shows no interest in actually activating the Weapon within Herr, but rather seeks to reverse engineer it and recreate it into his own twisted parody. In addition to his, APD likely suffers from sociopathy, a condition that often overlaps with Antisocial Personality Disorder and psychopathy. Quiet effectively mirroring the behaviors of notable psychopaths such as Ted Bundy, APD shows a certain level of charisma, as he IS a master orator capable of brainwashing legions of able-bodied organisms into believing he was a God of Purity destined to lead them to their manifest destiny. After the Myriad Empire proves to be of little use to him, APD disposes of many of his closest followers, even attempting to slay the Myriad King under the delusion that he was the ring-leader in an attempt at usurpation.

Throughout the Sidequest franchise (taking into account the upcoming novelizations), APD displays certain symptoms of Paranoia Disorder, Avoidant Disorder, and Explosive Sadism Disorder, despite appearing completely stable (and having a consciousness far exceeding mental illness). He often isolates himself within the lowest depths of the Backstages, unable to bear being in the presence of even his own creations. He seeks to dismantle any attempts at resistance to his rule with sudden force and brutality, distrustful of anyone and everyone. He fears to have an obscured weakness that others will eventually discover and exploit, and therefore reacts with extreme cruelty to even the slightest notion of disloyalty to his deluded idea of order.

As mentioned in the paragraph prior, APD has deteriorated himself to the point of being psychologically unable to care for the feelings or well-being of other humanoids, therefore rendering him completely void of empathy (though BPD is also destructive and somewhat careless, he seems to retain a stronger sense of empathy than APD). APD has been the responsible force between the decimation of cultures, the mass genocide of entire Backstage dimensions, and the complete enslavement of mankind (though this only lasted momentarily.) APD views his brother's creations as nothing more than an experiment for him to revise and put through trial and error. His faction, the Myriad Empire (which he rules with an iron fist), carries out most of these experiments on captives from the Outer, a string of multiverses far from the reaches of APD and the forces behind the Backstages.

As a running trend in HeresJosh's characters, APD retains a strong, ill-bred hatred of minors, seeing them as "joyful, innocent spores to the human retards." As such, many of his experiments (such as his attempts at corrupting the young mind by forcing children to spend their lives in cages filled with barbed whilst reading historical fascist propaganda) revolve around the torment of children. His fiery misanthropic philosophies finally reached an extreme as he released several PROS3CUTERS to stage a massacre of Herr's defenseless family, including his four children. This act was one of the contributing factors of Herr's development from lawful good to an anti-hero.

Likely stemming as an effect of his castigating past, APD possesses a deranged sense of self, believing him to be the only truly "intelligent" life in the Triverse. He encourages his followers to devote their lives to him and praise him as the sole true deity. He despises the very concept of free will, viewing sentient lifeforms as simple and counterproductive. His philosophy deems mankind and human nature as a "pathetic carbon copy" of his brothers', and he, therefore, seeks to eradicate it by any means necessary.

APD is presented as somewhat of a psychological manipulator, playing on Aris' desires to feel compassion to turn him into little more than an asset to his cause. This finally culminates as Aris is forced to go forward with an assassination attempt on his brother, which he deliberately sabotages (and is quickly torn apart by APD in a sudden fit of rage). Although his actions have, both directly and indirectly, lead to trillions of deaths and the enslavements of entire species, APD shows little regard for the consequences of his actions, choosing instead to take pride in it.

Similarily to characters such as Aka Manah, Zalgo, and Nekrozoth, APD is often considered as the embodiment of hatred due to his insatiable temperament. He scarcely tolerates failures from his underlings, nearly butchering the Myriad King himself on numerous occasions for his inability to go through with his operations. Following the destruction of the Final Archway (and effectively sealing him in the Backstages, unable to interact with the Outer), APD fell to his knees in utter shock before obliterating his own palace, slaying anyone who dared stand in his way. In contrast to other prolific "evil deity" archetypes, APD has many displaced insecurities over his authority and status as an omnipotent being.

Unlike the likes of Zalgo, APD regards romantic and sexual interest as an unessentiality, and has no need for a romantic partner to feel "fulfilled". This was most successfully displayed during his campaign against the Goddess of Love, in which he confined her to a wooden pole in the center of a cave inhabited by starving men as to see "whether their dicks or their stomachs speak first." He is represented as somewhat of misogynist, mocking the female monarch of Sephar and ridding the Backstages of native women. APD is, in essence, a hateful, temperamental, merciless, exploitive, deluded, insecure, brilliant, and narcissistic god of the cryptic and, quite rightfully, the true "bane of humanity".

BPD[]

In contrast to his rational, calculating counterperson, BPD serves as the incarnation of irrational destruction and chaos. In contradiction to his base personality, BPD exists with the sole purpose of craving destruction, viewing the Triverse as little more than an output for him to release his hatred and morph into his twisted image of "order". He has revealed to the Myriad King that every moment of his existence is physically painful to him (I know, I got that concept from the Green Mile. Don't shit on me for it.) He wishes nothing more than to bring a sudden and "magnificent" end to both his life and the entirety of life in the Omniverse, thereby making him very near Omnicidal.

BPD shows a sadistic delight in tormenting his underlings, most notably the Myriad King for his numerous failures, though unlike APD, he cares little for the King's status and uses, coming very near to ending his life on numerous occasions in sudden temperamental fits. He is also presented as somewhat of a child, utilizing civilians he enslaved across his killing sprees as leverage against the Outer Alliance at the first sight of failure. He is constantly in a semi-euphoric, deranged, and irrational state, literally depending on chaos and violence to ease his pains and bring him somewhat closer to what many would refer to as "comfort".
