“ | Only the worst of the SS could hope to match Abaddon’s followers in cruelty and sadism. Serial killers and nihilistic brutes are the vaunted elite of this new society, their inhumanity cloaked in religious fervor born of their old commander’s ravings against a world gone mad. | „ |
~ The description of “Evil Unbound”, one of the National Spirits of the Brotherhood of Cain. |
Abaddon, born Anatoly Andreevich Motsny, is a character in Hearts of Irons 4 mod The New Order: Last Days of Europe. He appears as a side antagonist in After Midnight events that took place after the death of Sergey Taboritsky, the Blessed Regent and potential leader of the Holy Russian Empire.
In Post-Midnight event, Motsney betrayed the Holy Russian Empire after finding out Taboritsky being a Jew, before building his own faction known as the Brotherhood of Cain, which was a Satanic cult that committed mass murder and human sacrifice throughout Omsk and the goal of establishing a Satanic theocracy throughout Russia that he would call it the Kingdom of the Hellborn.
Biography[]
During his service as a Shturmoviki commander, Motsny took part in Taborisky’s atrocities to conquer other parts of Russia as well as war crimes to cleanse people that they deemed as “subhumans”. However, things began to change after Tarborisky’s death and the following destruction of the once-unified Holy Russian Empire. Then, the truth behind Taborisky’s Jewish heritage came to light after Motsny and his men were in Omsk.
During his service as a Shturmoviki commander, Motsny took part in Taborisky’s atrocities to conquer other parts of Russia as well as war crimes to cleanse people that they deemed as "subhumans", namely Jews, disabled people and homosexuals among others. However, things began to change after Tarborisky's death and the following destruction of the once-unified Holy Russian Empire. Then, the truth behind Taborisky’s Jewish heritage came to light after Motsny and his men were in Omsk.
Hearing the news, Motsny and his men (as a group of staunch anti-Semitists) suffered nervous breakdown (to the point of self-harm and self-mutilation of everything) to find out that their once-respected Blessed Regent was a kind to Jews, whom they deemed as inferior, much to their grief.
Then, Motsny discovered, with his twisted thought, that if a Jewish man like Taborisky became the Blessed Regent at the name of God, then God would be a hypocrite as well. As a result, he came to believe that the best way to spite Taborisky was to spite God. To do so, he believed that he would become a believer of Satan, the very same Devil that served as God’s greatest enemy of all time.
As a result, Motsny betrayed the Holy Russian Empire and renounced his faith in God. Instead, he and his minions converted themselves into Satanists, before building their own Satanic group known as the Brotherhood of Cain. He also renamed himself as Abaddon, after a Biblical demon, before taking a skull of goat to make his mask.
During their reign in Omsk, Abaddon and his Brotherhood of Cain had committed numerous atrocities, judging from the newspaper events if the player chose to explore the Brotherhood of Cain. The members of the Brotherhood had a 100% Fundamentalism in their ideology (a sub-ideology of Ultranationalism) and had committed human sacrifices in their land, burning countless people on stake for Satan in their punlic rituals, while abducting and killing people in the land they ruled and the land they had conquered.
In addition to that, besides Abaddon and the former Shturmoviki members, the Brotherhood of Cain also recruited serial killers and nihilistic psychopaths into their faction, with their members are all bloodthirsty killers, cruel enough to had people abducted, killed and sacrificed to Satan without one single shed of remorse whatsoever. All of their deeds were meant to spite God, whom they believed to have a Jew like Taborisky as the Blessed Regent.
If the player chose the Brotherhood of Cain to reunify Russia, then the newly-created country would be named as the Kingdom of the Hellborn, a place of horror and mayhem where Abaddon and his followers gleefully committed human sacrifices and mass murder in order to spite God continuously.
Personality[]
Abaddon is a thouroughly blood-thirsty, cruel and delusional hypocrite who shares Taborisky's term of racism, also calling people that Taborisky hated as "sub-humans" as a derogatory term. It made him, formerly, on the good terms with the Holy Russian Empire.
In the past, when he was still Motsny, already gleefully killed Jewish people, socialists, disabled people and homosexuals (all of whom he and his subordinates considered as inferior) under his service in the Holy Russian Empire, and he gleefully enjoyed killing during his service as a Shturmoviki commander.
Later, the revelation of Taborisky's true origin only made things even more horrible. Instead of showing any sign of regret after the Midnight, Motsney only became even worse when he came to conclusion that God was the one to blame to make Taborisky on the throne. It was not about how evil Taborisky had become, but because Taborisky was also a part of Jewish people whom the Holy Russian Empire deemed inferior, and God was to blame for making Taborisky the Blessed Regent.
As a result, Motsney, who now renamed himself as Abaddon and founded the Brotherhood of Cain, had gone even further than ever by killing anyone his minion by adopting Satanism and committing human sacrifice under Satan's name, only to spite God. Besides his old minions that shared his same belief, Abaddon also recurited serial killers, nihilists and cruel people in Omsk, so that he could turn his turf into a land of bloodshed of cruelty that, according to the description of one of his National Spirits, only the worst of SS could be compared to it.
Overall, Abaddon managed to become even worse than Taborisky, as he began to kill anyone on his sight regardless of gender, ideology, sexuality or race, only killing for his twisted purposes and having full knowledge of what he was doing. Even without more specific Focus Trees to specify his villany, like all the other post-Midnight warlords, Abaddon's sheer cruelty as well as unique crimes made him the worst post-Midnight Russian warlord, and he remains to be one of the worst villains in TNO ever.
Trivia[]
- In the OTL, Motsny is a Jew. If that is also the case in TNO, this only makes his crimes even worse.
- In the older version of TNO, there was originally a now-removed Satanic warlord known as the Antikhrist, who was based on the infamous Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo and led the Bogi Smerti, a breakaway state originated from a collapsing Reichskommissariat Moskowien.
- As a result, whilst not a reused character from the originally cut TNO characters like some other post-Midnight warlords, Abaddon is the game's second and more definite version of a Satanic warlord, with the Antikhrist as his presumed prototype.
