Adam and Sierra Alvarez are both overarching antagonist of Dead by Daylight. They both are the main antagonist of Jonathan's backstory (who would later become known as The Psychopath) as well as being his abusive parents.
Personality[]
Both of John's parents are often characterized by their abusive and social darwinism personalities, they both believe that the strong are inherently better than the weak. They believed in this mentality so much that they forced it onto their only child at a young age. This would be okay normally, but the way they go about this would be hitting their child so hard that it would make him bleed, so he's skin could become "steel" as he's body would be used to the pain that was inflicted on him by both of his parents.
They would even starve him for 2 days without being able to have any food or water at all, this would eventually lead to their child snapping and going against them and their power of authority. Adam is the more dangerous being the two as he is often seen being more aggressive with his kid, than Sierra is shown to be. It's also implied he is the only parent that works, as it is stated he works at a power plant. He is also shown to be willing to murder someone, such as killing his boss Miguel Santiago. Because he hated being told what to do by someone he saw as inferior to him.
But do to their training they inflicted on their shown, this backfired on them horribly. Which they couldn't have seen coming from a mile away because of how blind they were. Although in their minds both of them thought they were doing the right thing for their son by mistreating him. Which shows them as being delusional too.

Past[]
A fraction of their past can be found in Jonathan's Tomes entitled, The Creation Of A Monster. Adam and Sierra would meet each other for the first time when they were teenagers, where they would fall in love with each other at first sight. They would eventually end up getting married to each other when they became adults, Sierra would end up giving birth to their only child named Jonathan Alvarez. Sometime down the road, Adam would become a employee at a local power station that's located in the Panuco River. Where the family would end up living at.
Present[]
John was often abused by both of his parents who always forced him to work not allowing him to take any breaks or play with any of the other children in the village. As a form of escapism John tortured small animals to forget about his parents abusive nature towards him, on the other hand he took delight in killing things that were smaller and weaker than him. One incident was at the elementary school John attended as a student. He got into a fight with another kid beating the kid up eventually choking the live out of the kid, he was suspended after the incident.
John's parents were ashamed at him for his violent behavior, Adam Alvarez, John's father. Beat the kid to a pulp, he locked John down in the basement as punishment for what he did, he told John that he would stay in the basement for a week without having any food or water. Sierra told him that he wouldn't get any food or liquids until he learned his lesson. One day while Adam was working at the power plant, his boss Miguel told him to look over this resumes from people who are looking to work for the plant, tired of always listening to his boss's demands Adam grabbed a pencil, stabbing his boss in the fore head with it. This would end up killing him. Worried about the authorities locking him up for murder, he decided to get rid of the corpse by going into the woods, burning the body; via gasoline. He would end up calling Sierra telling her he needed help in getting rid of a problem, Sierra would go along with his plan of burning Miguel's body in the middle of the night.
To make sure that he didn't starve to death John often found roaches or mice in the basement which he would use as a substitute for food. As for a substitute for water, he would swallow water from a broken pipe. After the week, Adam and Sierra would end up letting John out of the basement, Adam would ask his son if he learned his lesson at all, John remembered all the times his parents let their frustration out on him, this caused something inside of John to snap killing his father and mother with a butcher knife. He felt a huge wave of anger consume him in that moment John just laughed finally getting his revenge on his horrendous parents.
The bodies of Adam and Sierra were later discovered by the police after three days, because of a neighbor complaining about a terrible odor that was coming from their home. The charred remains of Miguel Santiago were discovered the following day.
In-Game[]
The player can collect Adam's left eye along with Sierra's index finger as charms that can be used to customize the killers hooks.
Trivia[]
- They are original characters for Jonathan's backstory, as the mainline series John is never stated to have parents.
- They are never seen on-screen. Only being mentioned in John's backstory, although it was stated that both of them were in their early 30's.
- Their actions are a jab to show how in real-life and in fiction, abusing a kid can likely lead to them becoming a serial killer whenever they get older.
- The insults that John calls them such as Burja and Diablo are obviously in Spanish, but once translated into English they mean "Witch" and "Devil".
