Adrianna de la Santos is a supporting antagonist in the 2020 fantasy web story The Adventures of a Sword. She is an obsessed fan of Emperor Ginold who killed and tortured as many as people as she could to impress him, and she was also an accomplice in the murder of Jordan's mother.
Personality[]
Adrianna de la Santos is an unremitting and unhinged sadist who receives immense enjoyment from seeing people suffer. She enjoys scaring, torturing, and killing people, as she abetted in the homicide of Jordan's mother and maimed and hung herself to traumatize anyone who encountered her dead body. She is extremely prideful of her atrocities, as evidenced by her collection of her victims' skeletons. She also is quite derisive, as she frequently mocks Jordan and his friends when they attempt to defeat her.
Adrianna is also extremely obsessed over Emperor Ginold. She committed various atrocities in an attempt to impress him, and shared his bloodthirstiness and wickedness. However, there is no implication that she cares for him, as her obsession was only because both of them had a common interest in evildoings. As well, when Ginold is no longer impressed by her and coldly dismisses her, she reacts apathetically and walks away.
History[]
In the past, Adrianna de la Santos attempted to make an impression on Emperor Ginold by murdering her own family, killing 68 other people and collecting their skeletons as trophies, and partaking in the homicide of Jordan’s mother. After this, she chopped her hands off and hung herself on an oak tree to petrify anyone who came across it.
In the present, Jordan and friends come across the Darque Hallway while trying to find the leaves that would destroy Emperor Ginold. Once they enter it, they find a wanted poster for Adrianna, and Jordan remembers her as abetting in the murder of his mother. Eventually, they find the skeletons of Jordan’s mother and the 68 other victims Adrianna slayed. Just then, a demonic Adrianna materializes in front of Jordan, Arnie, and Gary, and cathartically boasts about her crimes, before attempting to suffocate Jordan. However, Jordan uses the sword to temporarily defeat her.
Adrianna appears next when she walks into Ginold’s castle. Emperor Ginold coldly dismisses her; she tells him that she's fine with the fact that he doesn’t care about her, before telling him about her ability to stick pods on people to force them to kill their allies before killing themselves. Once again, Ginold is apathetic to this, and Adrianna simply walks out.
When Jordan, his two friends, and his girlfriend Olivia board a plane on Earth to head to Texas on their mission to find the leaves, Adrianna attempts to put the pods to use by sticking them on Jordan. Initially, she gets him to murder the pilot, and afterwards she tries to get Jordan to shoot his friends and then himself. However, Gary intervenes and tosses the gun out of the plane, saving Jordan’s life.
Finally, Adrianna appears during the final battle between Jordan and Ginold. She once again sadistically brags about how she was able to use the pods on 80 people to get them to kill their friends and themselves. After, she electrocutes Carl (Olivia’s former boyfriend after she and Jordan temporarily broke up), aggravating Olivia. After that, she reversed the power of the younging seeds that Olivia consumed, reverting her back to her original age of 1000 years and causing her to die instantly. Jordan, infuriated by Adrianna’s sadistic deeds, hangs her on a tree, and imprisons her inside an indestructible shed, thereby subjecting her to her well-deserved fate.
Trivia[]
- As the story is a Biblical allegory, Adrianna (along with Balthazar) represents Satan's fervent sympathizers.
