~ Ae-Ri explaining her feelings |
Ae-Ri is a minor character and one-off antagonist of the Periverse Chronicles, and the protagonist of the one shot story, ‘First Day’ set in the same continuity. Being made in a lab, she is described as one of the strongest subjects created there as well as one of the worst ever made due to her mental state afterwards. In her early days after her escape, unbeknownst to her current friends, Ae-Ri was a serial killer that reveled in the blood of her victims due to her unexplained homicidal urges. Although toned down to keep up appearances and to avoid scaring away her friends, she still partakes in her uncontrollable urges from time to time.
Biography[]
Ae-Ri was born in the year of 2004, made in a secluded lab located underground far away from any sort of civilization whatsoever with the goal to cultivate her plentiful powers so that she can serve the company and beyond. Despite the many warning signs in the young girl’s life that would have triggered a sort of worry for her mentality, all signs were ignored and any outbursts, infractions and/or errors were met with immense and grievous consequences. Over time, due to her heightened strength and worsened mind as well as her overwhelming need to be free, Ae-Ri escaped from the grasp of the Association at the age of 17 before being recaptured and tortured. After the failed attempt, she became dormant and compliant for nearly a year before being sent out to assassinate another renegade subject that got away. Seeing this as an attempt to leave herself, she did, carving out her tracking chip and cutting ties with the association as a whole.
Finding refuge in a nearby city, unbridled rage and eventual jealousy kindled from within Ae-Ri as she tried to find a place for herself in society. Her first kill occurred during a birthday party for a child with her (the child’s) family present in which she stabbed the girl over 45 times and tugged the body underneath the water while the kid was going for a swim. Many more kills against men, women and children, especially the latter two would be a common thrill in her life that she became addicted to doing. When questioned indirectly why she commits so many kills by one of her victims, Ae-Ri explained to him that she was simply returning the favor that society gave her, and that if she didn’t deserve a family, no one did. Despite the nonsensical and poorly thought through excuse, there is some legitimacy behind it, as she does feel intense anger whenever being reminded of her childhood, parents or anything concerning her past. Her count is officially at 180, with 23 missing. Scarily enough, though never confirmed, it is hinted that she might have dabbled in cannibalism from time to time as well, describing the taste of human flesh as unbearably tart, tough and salty. Although she denies ever engaging with the practice, she told her inquiring victim that she does feel the urge to ‘take a bite’ out of the ones she attacks every now and again, even well before they die.
Personality[]
On the surface, Ae-Ri is a bubbly, confident and extroverted young woman that loves having fun and getting to know people. However, under her facade, she is revealed to be an immensely hurt person that was tortured and worked constantly from a young age, carrying that resentment with her and blaming the rest of society for the sins of her captors. On one hand, Ae-Ri seems to adore and love her homicides and the kills that she does, especially when the victims were living a happy life before their deaths, as a sense of twisted payback. On the other, she feels immense sadness and grief for what she does to others around her and that she deserves nothing but a painful death for what she did, so much so that she tried to commit suicide via immolation, asphyxiation and starvation, but to no avail due to her overly durable nature. She can get pretty snappy at times and even borderline murderous if she feels threatened and finds it hard to control herself even when she knows it's wrong. Still, she is very much capable of restraining herself if she has the right company and support around her.
Appearance[]
She wears a black and yellow bodysuit that is remarkably tough and bulletproof, as well as being immune to friction in the air by running at high speeds. She has stark, sharp yellow eyes and fair toned skin as well as dark brown hair styled in hair buns. She has a rather slim and voluptuous physique that is complimented by her suit.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Superhuman Strength: Ae-Ri’s strength is many times that of a normal human, being able to stop a speeding car in its tracks and rip off a bank’s vault door without effort. She is strong enough to punch deep holes into concrete and rip metal pipes apart. Her strength can effortlessly dismember humans, tearing apart flesh and bone like paper. She can even contend with Misty, a superhuman with strength many times higher than hers, and injure her with moderate difficulty.
- Superhuman Durability: Ae-Ri is completely bulletproof, being unfazed by high caliber weaponry and small explosions. Her durability hasn’t been challenged much, so its not exactly known what she can can can’t take, although getting hit by a truck at top speeds and being slammed into the ground from a 800 foot drop seems to be well into what she can take, as she walked away stunned but uninjured from such events in the past.
- Relativistic Speed: Ae-Ri’s premier power is her superspeed, being able to chase down speeding vehicles with a casual jog and move faster than sound during a jovial race. At top speeds, she can run at or even faster than the speed of light. As a result, her metabolism is immensely fast.
- Master Combatant: Despite her young age, Ae-Ri has years of combat experience under her belt, especially due to her training as a child. She implements this during her many, many kills, especially after superhumans of comparable strength.
