Alphys is the secondary antagonist of the Undertale fan-comic, Negativetale.
She is a mad scientist who serves as the sadistic right-hand to King Asgore. Having gained her position through pitching her inventions to him, she serves as a big reason for the Underground's degredation into a survival-of-the-fittest society thanks to her inventions.
Biography[]
Prior to the events of the comic. Alphys lived in a dump, as mentioned by her notes. However she ultimately aspired to become the Royal Scientist to King Asgore so that she could obtain funding for her projects and because she felt as if she deserved it.
In order to obtain this role that she so desperately desired, she would pitch a few of her inventions to Asgore, one of which being a robot, and another being a spur of the moment invention that took away a monster's free will and turned them into killing machines. Taking interest in this invention, Asgore would hire Alphys, making her the royal scientist and funding her work. Having continued to develop these mind control devices she managed to shrink them to the size of a choker, with her assuming that Asgore wanted to use this on the entire underground, she expressed her disinterest in it, believe that it was a massive waste of time.
Later down the line, Undyne, a student that Asgore had been personally training, had been chosen as a candidate for her next invention. Alphys proceeded to turn her into a droid who would serve Asgore until the day she died without any chance of rebelling.
During her time as Royal Scientist, she would create Mettaton, an "Adversary Eradication Robot" using one of the ghosts that lived in the underground as a vessel. The robot was created in a way that would limit the person's emotions to only what was considered the essentials so that they would work as an effective weapon. However, the robot would ultimately disappear, with her seeking to find it by the time of the main story.
It is during her time spying on the locals of the underground that she begins observing the human, AKA Frisk and would become fascinated by their behavior and their refusal to kill. So after they accidentally kill Undyne after trying to help her, Alphys would proceed to "ally" herself with the human, going behind Asgore's back and guiding them through Hotland with the intent to experiment on them later.
It is during this time however, conveniently after she requests Frisk help her find Mettaton, that said robot bursts through the wall, however with a completely new and much softer look and lacking all of the weapons that she had programmed her with, something which she shows noticeable dismay towards. It is there that Mettaton talks about how she's been saving up her cash in order to start her own live show to finally live out her dreams, and while Alphys is infuriated ultimately decides to humor her, saying she'll fund her show and even broadcast it to everyone. Mettaton, incredibly excited by this news, leaves, and Alphys allows Frisk to tour around the lab for a bit.
It is later during Frisk's journey through Hotland that them and Alphys encounter Mettaton again, who is hosting a Cooking Show as a practice run for the real event. While watching the show, Alphys expresses her boredom of it, stating that the residents of the underground would simply skip over her show, uncaring unless it showed some form of violence, Mettaton is noticeably disheartened by this but ultimately keeps her spirits high as she leaves.
While continuing to gude Frisk through Hotland, they once again encounter Mettaton, who is this time hosting a news show, though Alphys quickly states that the audience would be bored by that as well. When Mettaton asks what exactly would make them interested, she proposes the idea of him fighting Frisk, though she ultimately refuses, at least for the time being.
Eventually, after managing to fix the elevator that Mettaton had managed to sabotage, they reach the Core where the final encounter with Mettaton awaits. Where after forcibly broadcasting her show to the entire underground, Mettaton would ultimately meet an explosive end when she decides to take her own life for the sake of ratings.
After the whole fiasco, Alphys enters and admits to knowing that Mettaton would take her own life "to a degree" and showed no remorse towards it, even admitting to finding it entertaining. She then tells Frisk to stay put while she recovered the lethal parts of Mettaton's old body so that the "real experiment could begin" however, Mettaton, in a last move of revenge and malice, traps her and despite her protests, proceeds to completely kill herself along with her, ending her cruel run completely and saving the human from whatever Alphys had planned for them.
Personality[]
Unlike her shy, introverted and ultimately well-meaning original self. This version of Alphys is completely self absorbed, believing that she deserved the title of Royal Scientist and uses her status to gain funds from King Asgore in order to fund her projects. She is generally shown to be jerkish and unpleasant, telling the kindhearted Mettaton that she would never achieve her dream and even admitting to knowing that she would commit suicide in order to boost her ratings.
