What are we going to do?
~ Alvin asking Scott Rogan about the plan.
Alvin: Well, after you guys took down Pennywise for the first time, I left a note in the old apartment, and it said that I was dead, and I did move to a house in West Des Moines. Then, I called Lyft, and they took me to that marina. I have spent all of this time wishing that I could take back what I did to you all of these years ago.

Beverly: So, what's that supposed to mean?
Alvin: That means I'm sorry for all of the abuse that I gave you, as well as touching you inappropriately. Take me to the police station and turn me in. I deserve jail.
Beverly: No. What you did with Scott definitely would make up for it. That means I forgive you for all that you have done to me in the past.
Alvin: Can we bury the hatchet?

~ Alvin's apology to his daughter and as he makes peace with her.

Alvin Marsh is a major antagonist in the 2017 film IT, a mentioned character in the 2019 film IT: Chapter Two, the Wattpad fanfiction Old Enemies, and the secondary antagonist of it's sequel The Stuttering Man and the Winter Soldier.

He served in Derry as a janitor at an unknown place. He is the husband of Elfrida Marsh, the father of Beverly Denbrough (née Marsh), the father-in-law of Bill and Georgie Denbrough, Scott Rogan's right-hand man, and the maternal grandfather of Eddie James Denbrough.

Biography[]

IT (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019)[]

For that information, see here.

Old Enemies[]

While Alvin did not physically appear during the events, he is listed as one of the people that the Winter Soldier could possibly be working for.

The Stuttering Man and the Winter Soldier[]

Meeting Scott Rogan[]

After Alvin arrived at a McDonald's, he met Scott Rogan, and the two teamed up to discuss a plan to get revenge on Bill, who Scott blames for the death of his brother. Alvin then agreed to the plan, as long as he gets to have Beverly, which results in Scott agreeing to Alvin's terms.

Meet-up at the marina[]

After Scott Rogan arrived at the Green Gables Marina, it was decided that the two enact their plan. After Alvin forgot what the plan was, Scott threatened to reveal his abuse to law enforcement if he did not stick to the plan. Alvin then agreed, and they went for Coral Ridge Mall.

Arrival at Coral Ridge Mall and vehicular chase[]

Upon arrival at the Coral Ridge Mall, Scott had killed Gretta Keene, then he and Alvin went into the mall, much to the shock of everyone visiting. After Scott was knocked out, Alvin helped him back up, and following the duo returning to Scott's car, a black 1998 Toyota Camry, a highway chase ensues. The chase ends when the hero's cars exit, and after they arrived at a rest stop, Scott revealed that they need to divide and conquer in order for the plan to work.

Bill Denbrough's abduction[]

At a Hampton Inn, Alvin used a flashbang grenade to disorient Bill and Georgie long enough for him to abduct the former. However, due to Alvin not supposedly putting Bill in a sack, Scott trashed his house with various tools, then shaved the back of his head, leaving only the top part of his hair. After that, he spray painted the back of his head, then his forehead. During his nervous breakdown, Scott was both laughing and crying. This indicates he had lost his sanity. He then grabbed a kitchen knife, then waited for Alvin to come to the door with Bill.

Chase and redemption[]

As the still living members of The Losers Club, and even Georgie, were running from the mess that Scott had made during his nervous breakdown, and after he tripped, Bill and Georgie went back for him, and as the way was being cleared for him, Bill decided to try and reason with Alvin. After being shocked by what Bill had said, Alvin was grateful for what his son-in-law had to say. As Bill was being tended to by Beverly, Scott Rogan was shot dead by Alvin using his AMT Automag III. After Scott collapsed for the final time, Alvin apologized for the abuse he had inflicted onto Beverly, who soon forgives him, and they shake hands. After getting to know everyone else, Alvin was happy upon discovering Eddie Denbrough as his grandson.

6 months later[]

Beverly had since improved her relationship with Alvin. After she and Bill left for their date night, Alvin was left responsible for watching over Eddie, and after Bill and Beverly left, Alvin was playing with his grandson by building a fort, and after putting Eddie down for a nap after singing Hush Little Baby by A Baby Lullaby to Eddie, Alvin walked to the living room window, and as he was staring out of it, he felt satisfied and grateful that Beverly had forgiven him.

Personality[]

When Beverly was younger, Alvin was physically and sexually abusive to her to the point where it traumatized her. Upon teaming up with Scott, Alvin was willing to assist him, but after hearing Bill out, Alvin redeemed himself, as shown when he shot Scott Rogan in the back of the head, and is now a loving, kind-hearted, good-natured, and helpful parent.
