Amadeus Sterling is a major antagonist of the TV series Wayne, appearing as one of the three overarching antagonists (alongside Harvey Dent and Talia Al Ghul), serving as the main antagonist of the first 6 chapters with The Joker. He is the megalomaniacal manager of staff in the Arkham Asylum who plots to use an army of reanimated kiljoy supervillains to conquer Gotham and become it's king.

He is portrayed by Andy Serkis, who also played The Overlord from the Ninjago fanfilms, Snoke from Star Wars and Gollum from The Lord of The Rings franchise.

History[]

Amadeus Sterling is the manager of staff at the Arkham Asylum, who secretly runs it with an iron fist as part of a plan to expand his power as a crime lord behind the public eye. After the death of the notorious, fearsome king of Gotham and supreme crime lord Salvatore "Sal" Maroni, Amadeus hires his worker Doctor Jeremiah Arkham to revive the criminal as a monstrous dark knight who shall serve them. Arkham has decided to call the knight Azrael, as part of their plans. Salvatore willingly accepts his role as their fearsome dark knight Azrael, but Amadeus wasn't impressed by his results as he feared that Azrael might betray them later. He threatened to torture Arkham if their plan fails.

Later, Amadeus visits Edward Nygma / The Riddler at the nightclub of The Sirens. He offers The Riddler to gain more power and bring the city to it's future. However, since Amadeus Sterling wanted to reanimate Edward, the notorious riddle man refused to take part in his scheme, as he knew that he would only lose power since he will have to serve The Arkham Asylum's staff for the rest of his life just so Amadeus could take over the entire city.

Amadeus calls Azrael into the room, but Nygma manages to overpower him and escape their wrath. Azrael then tries to go after The Riddler, but Amadeus looses hope and stops Azrael from chasing after him, since he now wants him killed by Arkham's associate Jeff St. Cloud.

Sterling later releases an army of monsters, led by Azrael, to take over Gotham, in which they mostly succeed. He becomes one of the kings of the town and therefore an evil ruler, and the leader of The Arkham forces.

He then has Azrael kill Jeff St. Cloud as he always planned to betray him. He ordered Azrael and Freeze to prepare their forces for a final battle against The Force of Gotham.

After the final battle, he is confronted by Valentine, but The Penguin shoots him from behind to demonstrate his anger at the Pyg.

Personality[]

Amadeus is an intelligent foe to the Batman and his allies, since he always thinks one step ahead of them and he knows how to outsmart the public. On top of all, he is dangerous, ambitious and cunning. Amadeus hates the public and only pretends to like them and take care of them in a twisted, torturous and ruthless way. He is also egoistic as he only cares about his own agenda and is wiliing to kill anyone who stands in his way to power and glory.

Trivia[]
