Amber Freeman is a major antagonist of the Scream franchise.
She appeared as the secondary antagonist of the official movie Scream 2022. In the fanfilms, she is an unseen antagonist of Scream Revival, The Biggest Scream Ever and Scream Queens, before reappearing as the secondary antagonist of Scream: The Final Act.
She is Tara Carpenter's best friend and former arch-nemesis, as well as Richie's lover and partner in crime up until his death. Following her defeat and supposed death in the Woodsboro killing spree which she has caused under the guidance of the corrupt film industry, the producer Roman Bridger came to save her life and further manipulate her into becoming his personal assassin wearing a golden mask, known as Goldenface.
She eventually redeems herself realizing how much she cares about Tara and becomes best friends with her and Nesia Bridger, ready to stop Roman from causing more mayhem.
She is portrayed by Mikey Madison, who also portrayed her in the canon.

Scream: The Final Act[]
Amber was almost left for dead in Stu Macher's house, where she was burnt by the deceased Sidney and her friend Gale, and then she was shot by Tara Carpenter. She truly had feelings for Tara, but was obsessed with finishing her requel.
Before she died, an unknown Ghostface (secretly Roman Bridger) came for her, saving her life by taking care of her medically as he claimed to also be a former doctor. He shaped her into Goldenface, a killer with a golden mask and his personal assassin. She accepted this role on condition that he would spare Tara, which was a deal he pretended to accept. She was also drugged up by him into not remembering his true identity. Until the events of the film, she started living a normal life in Los Angeles.
During the fanfilm, she at first went to the pub in which "Nathaniel Mersi" who was secretly Roman talked to his boss from the film industry and the Sheriff of town Emanuel Dawn. As part of her plans with Roman, she pretended to threaten Mr. Mersi, but Tara and her new boyfriend Randall Drakes then came to the pub for some time together and they saw Amber threatening Mersi. Tara threatened to call her sister who could kill Amber. Amber then told Tara that they need to talk for a moment without aggression.
Amber then lied as part of her plans to Tara that Emanuel hired her, while it was secretly Roman Bridger, who took the identity of Nathaniel Mersi, and even she didn't know that. At first Tara didn't believe Amber because of what she's done previously. However, as part of their plan, the Ghostface phones her and asks her to play a game at the arcade, ready to "kill" her for failure. Nesia then comes into the room, and threatens to shoot Amber with a gun. Being told by Tara that Amber is willing to help them now, Nesia is afraid that Samantha will banish her from the inner circle of friends if she gives Amber place in their life.
Amber warns Nesia that Ghostface is behind her. The Ghostface Killer tries to stab Nesia, but she shoots him causing him to fly out the window. Nesia out of the kindness of her heart offers Amber a place to stay at with her friends. However, Samantha doesn't accept Amber and exiles Nesia as well for suspecting that they are probably both the killers. Amber then wears her Goldenface costume and goes to find Nesia at the arcade, while Roman as the other Ghostface kidnaps Randall.
Goldenface plays trivia with Nesia, asking personal questions about her own life, leading Nesia to realize that it is actually Amber. Amber unmasks herself, but begs Nesia to save Randall so that Tara won't be heartbroken. Ghostface comes, and threatens to kill Randall, congratulating Amber for her work. Amber begs of him not to kill Randall, but despite this, Ghostface throws an unseen grenade and lights Randall up on fire horrifically. Nesia then out of anger about Amber's involvement vows to kill Amber and her employer with her friends later on, before she exits the arcade. Amber asks Roman not to kill Tara, even offering to help him kill her sister Sam. Ghostface pretends to agree, but asks her to keep her part of the bargain.
Amber later comes as Goldenface to assist the other Ghostface inside a park and she tries to stab Talia Makarov for him. However, Nesia intervenes, trying to talk sense into Amber, telling her that she deeply cares for Tara and that the only way to save her is to not kill her or her friends. Amber decides to redeem herself in that moment and decides not to kill Talia. Ghostface tells Nesia and Amber to meet him at the museum late at night for the final round, as they shall play hide and seek and try and kill each other. Nesia agrees. Amber then gets sad about Tara who she thinks will never accept her if she finds out the truth. Nesia tells her it is not her fault, as someone pushed her into doing this as she tried to explain this once to Sidney, who shot her and burnt her alive. Amber then told Nesia about her story of how she survived in Woodsboro after being shot by Tara. She explains that an unknown Ghostface saved her, and tells about everything. She did not know the name of the killer. Amber then wished that things could go better from the beginning, regretting her previous actions which she did in order to be an actress with Richie accompanying her. Nesia then tells her that it's not her fault, and that they both remind of one another; they were both unfortunate girls who followed the wrong people and eventually chose right. The two become the best friends after that.
Amber then reunited with Tara near the collapsing US Bank Tower. Tara was accompanied by Nathaniel Mersi, who offered his help against the Ghostface, asking the crew of protagonists to beat the criminal up until he comes with many cops behind him to arrest the mass murdering killer. Amber helped them fight Ghostface at the museum. When Ghostface tried to throw a knife at Talia, Amber sacrificed herself by pushing herself before Talia, as the knife hit her in the abdomen and went straight into her heart. Nesia arrives, and Amber considers her as a true friend, promising her to go to heaven and not to unite with Richie in hell, before she falls on the ground and dies. After Amber's death, Roman revealed himself to be Mersi and Ghostface, stabbing Sheriff Dawn and revealing that Amber didn't know who he was cause he drugged her up.
Personality[]
Like Richie, Amber is a psychopathic, violent murderer, but she is clearly far more savage and cruel than Richie, as her sadism is based on thrill-seeking and chaos rather than self-righteousness and delusions about saving the Stab franchise. The directors have confirmed that even though Richie was the dominant half of their team, Amber is the one who thought up the idea of a killing spree and did most of the killing. She's also shown to be a massive coward, as when both Sidney and Gale toss her to a corner she begins to beg for mercy by claiming she was "radicalize", and would later do it again when Gale has her at gunpoint. Despite her psychopathic tendencies, she does seem to be genuinely loyal to Richie and, just like he, she enjoys killing and harassing other people. However, she always kept it hidden that she did care about Tara in a twisted way, and was shocked when Tara shot her. Amber would later survive and redeem herself to save Tara and chose the right people in life. It seems that just as Nesia said, she was pushed into being a villain by corrupt producers such as Roman or even Randy Sampson who is one of his partners and a very ruthless individual.

- Amber is the second Ghostface during HuxRen's films to redeem herself, the first being Nesia Bridger. She's also the first canon Ghostface who falls under adaptational sympathy.
- She is the mastermind behind Richie's incidents despite Richie being the more dominant half of the team. However, they were both merely pawns for Roman Bridger and some other producers, as the Hollywood studios (with the exception of Dawn, who was a well meaning extremist who redeemed himself) used the two lovers to create their own franchise and share the requel by themselves. Amber turns out to be an unfortunate girl who went to the wrong places in life.
