Why indeed? Well, I don't owe you an explanation if you don't even remember anything.
~ Amethyst to her former best friend, Phillip.

Amethyst Paradinight is the antagonist/anti-hero/anti-villain in the stories titled Pokémon: The PAL Chronicles and PAL: The Dark Chronicles. She is the Elite Leader of the PAL Elite Four, the remaining half of the Legendary Dragon Duo and the current regional Princess.

She is also the second-in-command for the PAL team in general, while Ash, the League Champion, served as the group's commander.

As a child she was a sweet and harmless little girl who loved her fiancé Shiki because Shiki is probably the only one that cared for her and took her in when no one else wanted her. However, after her only friend and fiancé's death, she slowly grew to be a cool and collected Anti-Villain out for one purpose, and made it her mission in life to get revenge on the people that had killed him, and sought to master a complicated technique to revive him, at the cost of her own life.

She threw her Dragon Princess identity away, and using her new-found power, she single-handedly suppressed the increasing crime rate and reclaimed the tiara as herself so she can gain access to the forbidden information she needed.

Because of the fact that her recklessness caused Shiki to go after her which lead to his death, she eventually became corrupted and consumed in her anger and hatred though she kept a cool and collected facade.

As the most dangerous assassin in her region, all that changed and she became a revengeful and bloodthirsty sociopath. To add, she was revealed to suffer from PTSD, Major Depression Disorder, and even Schizophrenia (AV only), which meant she most likely does not feel remorse at taking lives, even the innocent ones. She also showed no qualms on attacking her own teammates to keep her secret safe.

Her years of seeking vengeance isolated her from others, leading her past to come back and endanger everyone. She came into conflict with her Elites when she attempted to wait for the right time to resurrect Shiki and keep her Elites from finding out her past which was the key to the mysteries in the region.

After multiple battles between her and her Elites, she was eventually defeated by Champion Ash. As she was willing to attack even her own teammates to keep her secrets, it technically branded her as a traitor to the regional Elite Four.

Physical Appearance[]

Amethyst is an extremely beautiful woman with a curvaceous figure any girl would die to have. She had long, shiny dark hair and amethyst eyes (however, in AV, it became permanently red due to Scarlet Anger). She was around 182cm tall, and is extremely busty. Her good looks increased as she grew older, and in the past, she used them to charm many of her victims, and took whatever she wanted from them.

It was once stated that all she needed was her extreme good looks to win the Kalos Queen title, and that no other could ever surpass her "natural beauty", which easily gains the attention (and affection) of any man she came across. Her beauty and somewhat soft appearance threw others off her true nature, which was something she took full advantage of in the past as defiance to the Elite previous manager.

She was also implied to have a love for fashion, as her favorite clothing brand and accessory line is Mon Petit Cheri, and her hobbies included dressing up her Usuki dolls in the various clothing sets she had collected so far. She usually dressed in a cool, elegant and dark fashion, and was seen wearing clothes that was a mix between casual and punk style as well. Her casual outfits was stated to be rather sexy on her such as wearing a short, satiny dress with a frilled neckline and a cravat.

Even when she was younger, her looks often put her at an advantage, as she was considered extremely adorable. Shiki describes her as being "cuter than an Eevee with Baby Doll Eyes." and people often give in to her demands with a single cutesy look from her. Her cute appearance and innocent demeanor often made her the object of affection of men even at a young age, much to the exasperation of Shiki who had to protect her from the various lust from the male population, though she did not really notice until she lost her fiancé.

Personality[]

You may describe yourself as a sincere person to everybody, but honestly? I don't think you are, no true psychic shows their genuine feelings to everybody, which is something you should know if you're a true psychic.
~ Amethyst sneering at Rosaline's arrogance and lack of skills
You're just a second-rate psychic. What do you know?
~ Amethyst Paradinight's cold dismissal of her own teammate.

Amethyst is one of the coldest members in the stories, almost never losing her cool or displaying any feelings, giving her an aloof air about her. She had proved to be one of the smartest, trickiest, stealthiest and most clever characters in the stories, being able to outsmart even Phillip (who is supposedly the smartest of the group) at times, and even managing to trick Ash, meaning she was an extremely capable strategist and very manipulative. She is known for having a very stoic personality. She was seen as calm and sophisticated and rather modest due to her upbringing, making her appreciate what she has, unlike most. In public, she conducted herself as a cool, likeable, and a well-spoken princess. However, this is really a mask to hide her brooding, dark nature.

Amethyst is very mature for her age, and extremely insightful, often giving good advice to people who need it, but she certainly doesn't have a big ego. In fact, she lacks the self-esteem, often looking down on herself, an opposite to Rosaline, whose skills despite being clearly inferior, felt she had the potential to do better than the other members and was resentful of her rank in the Elite.

She is a quiet person, not speaking much, but when she does, it's usually to make sarcastic comments. She is one of the smartest Elite members, and as a plotmaster, Amethyst showed a devious, colder and much darker side of her: she spends her time and effort, and makes all the necessary sacrifices needed to go about making sure her plan for the region to run smoothly succeeds, and is wiling to sacrifice her own teammates' lives, and even her own, to do so. Amethyst is willing to utilize all the abilities she has to turn and keep things in her favor, including her own divine looks, body and charm to her advantage. She also takes her responsibilities extremely seriously and is always trying to live up to her own and others expectations of her.

She was often seen criticizing Rosaline, her fellow Elite member, who she looks down upon because of her upbringing and thought of her begging them for another chance to prove herself worthy of the Elite position as the most pathetic thing she had ever seen, hence her degrading treatment towards her. Another reason could be because of her high expectations of people who wanted to be an Elite Four of her region and the rule that they must to respect the rules of the region, something Rosaline did not do. In fact, her hatred for Rosaline ran so deep she actually exposed what happened during Rosaline's application to be an Elite member, causing the people of the region to discriminate her. Amethyst was horrible to Rosaline, aside from trying to kill her, she would psychologically torture her on occasion by verbally abusing her and usually infantilize her.

She was cold, bitter and vengeful, and she tended to view outsiders, such as Rosaline (she doesn't see her as an Elite member), with disdain. It was once suggested that Amethyst only cared about Shiki's ability to become the next Leader of the Elite and Psychic specialist, though it was not the case, as she was shown to genuinely care for and love him, and his death was the reason she sought to obtain the power to resurrect a person in the first place. Her hatred towards Rosaline worsened when Rosaline gave in to her curiosity and explored her room instead of just getting out of her room after retrieving her ring. As punishment, she had destroyed her ring in her face, causing her to be devastated, as the ring was from her parents in the FS. Furthermore, in the AV she had also psychologically tortured her which the doctor stated that Rosaline would never be the same again if she ever recovered.

Amethyst trusted no one, and found the need to be strict on the selection of the members in order to keep her region running. This is shown when she refused to let Rosaline in when she failed two tests, but yet Rosaline begged for another chance, claiming she could do better than that. She can be cold-hearted and cruel since she cares for no one, not even her own Elites, as shown when she was willing to fight to kill them. She is extremely ruthless, and is deadly, violent, and bloodthirsty. She is also revealed to hate people who see mental illness it is as something that one can simply snap out of, and retaliated by torturing them with her illusions, telling them to "snap out of this, then". She apparently valued her only friend much more than her own life, being willing to sacrifice her titles as Leader of the Elite and PAL Princess if it meant achieving her goal.

She is known to make lovely hot cocoa that would make anyone feel like they are in heaven while drinking it, along with various large desserts and pastries that is second to none. Her Elites usually enjoyed them very much, and the dessert was enough to even cheer Rosaline up when she was emotionally distraught when someone (later revealed to be Amethyst herself) revealed what actually happened during her application as an Elite, causing her popularity to drop drastically. Even some of her adversaries expressed regret in not being able to try them. She is stated to be very good at cooking, often making delicious meals (or lunchboxes) and desserts for her Elites. She is also a talented chocolate maker and chocolatier, as those people lucky enough to have a taste found her confectioneries and Valentine's chocolates to be irresistible.

Amethyst made use of these pastries to poison her victims, especially the awful teacher her former manager hired to teach her some princess manners. Since the teacher was rather abusive towards her and even used physical force despite being an old lady, Amethyst added dimethylmercury to one of the pastries she was ordered to make for her, killing the teacher within ten months (since it was a slow acting poison, and symptoms don't show until four months later).

She was stated to admire Pakura Goldstein, the first Princess of PAL, and respected her abilities, which is rare, since she was never known to respect anyone's abilities. In fact, she owned quite a few possessions that once belonged to her, and picked up some of her methods, such as her use of psychology. She also seems to desire to suppress Pakura Goldstein, so much so that she developed a inferiority complex, and went as far as to say that she would never be as good as her. Despite being extremely talented and displaying high knowledge in battle and outside of battle she is not without personality quirks, as she was revealed to be unable to repair even the simplest of things, and she is also ignorant when it comes to the full use of technology, such as her own laptop. Another thing she was horrible at was origami, being unable to fold a simple paper airplane despite the instructions being in front of her.

Amethyst also took her losses very well, and was seen to be genuinely happy when Ash got the Champion position after defeating her, and hinted that she wanted him to take the position all along. As the princess of a wealthy region, she is a well-spoken girl and has a formal manner towards people she does not know well, often adding titles in front of their names (e.g. Leader Whitney), reflecting this adherence to old tradition. Furthermore, she is also soft spoken, never raising her voice even when in dire circumstances or breaking down. However, her occasional actions and manner of speech towards certain males can be quite flirtatious towards in the AV, hinting an interest in finding love for herself and her days of being sold to various men (only she never truly slept with them and took advantage of her psychic abilities for her own gain).

However, despite her cold and ruthless demeanor, she is honorable, maintaining her own set of morals and disciplines, such as the fact that she refused to kill the children during her massacre of the Blackthorn clan and even seemed to have placed her hopes of the future of the Dragon Clan on them when they met years later in her region, as she decided to "give the children a chance to change the future" by revealing her own story and did not kill them though they were all grown. She usually preferred a fair fight, and refused to use cheap tactics, though she was known to attack people from behind. She is stated to have picked up some gaming skills from Phillip and enjoys a good game from time to time, though her skills are nowhere as good as the boys of her group.

Amethyst displays a degree of affection, as she appears to care very deeply about her region, viewing it as a Pokemon paradise to be protected by someone qualified that she didn't want anyone to ruin the region's legacy, especially Rosaline, whom she felt was not qualified to protect the region, or rule it, since she would take over as Princess should anything happen to her, being an Elite Four member, and therefore the next in line, and decided to take matters into her own hands by taking her out so the Elite would not be burdened into taking care of a child like her. She is somewhat kind and empathetic - especially towards Ash, although this is frequently masked by a cool, callous demeanor. She also has a mentor-student like relationship with Ash in the FS, and is his romantic interest in the AV. In both versions, she was the one who took him in after he was betrayed, knowing the hatred from the betrayal would draw out his potential, which could be used to protect and rule the region.

She is capable of displaying kindness towards others. She truly loved Shiki, keeping his items and birthday gifts for her from him in her secret treasure box as well as taking the box with her to Luonto City during the tournament and even cried in secret as she knew it was futile as she waited for Shiki to come back to her after his death until she lost her ability to cry. In fact, she seemed to reveal some of her feelings by claiming to Rosaline: "It's either you kill or be killed." This may be a reference to Shiki's death, where she had hesitated in killing her own family, which cost her Shiki's life. It may also imply that Amethyst sought the ability to resurrect someone as compensation at the cost of her own life, believing that Shiki should be the one alive to help the region, not her. Also, despite the fact that she hated Rosaline, she did not kill her outright and would cook her her favorite food and even agreeing to go on a long trip to get seashells for a paint Rosaline had wanted, though it may be a means to manipulate her and throw her off her trail.

When Rosaline retained memories of her amusement at the abuse she suffered while she was an Elite under her hands, Amethyst stated that she knew of her plan to obtain the Princess Orb so that she would have the power to rise up in ranking and correctly deduced that she only wanted the higher ranks to show off to her childhood bullies, whom she was in competition with since children that she was the very best and stated her reason was pathetic. She also told her that the only reason she retaliated and got her removed from the Elites was because she insulted the Dragon Duo and wanted to write away their legacy, indicating she is the type to let her opponent strike first and never attacks unprovoked.

She was noted to once have been a truly good and caring person. This was supported by the fact that she longed for peace and eventually fell in love with Shiki, who share a similar dream to her, and even openly displayed her feelings for him. Furthermore, she was also seen with a constant smile when she was with him. Amethyst also cared deeply for Jude and Phillip as well, taking them in just as they thought their life could not get any worse, and offered them a chance to repair them and help the region.

However, the tragic events took a toll on her, and due to the terrible power of Scarlet Anger and the side-effects (AV only) she ultimately caved into corruption from her power and with no one to save her, it eventually drove her insane. Despite all this, she is also willing to swallow her pride if needed, as she pleaded for Ash to spare her powerless teammates when her Champion was about to punish them instead of her for her mistake and let Ash did whatever he wanted with her.

Powers & Abilities[]

Amethyst is the strongest aura user (other than Ash), and one of the strongest fighters in the Elite, making her a formidable opponent in battle. Having a graceful, cruel, and deceitful fighting ability, she has proven herself to be a deadly opponent, as even Ash had a hard time defeating her, and she is more powerful than her three Elites combined, being able to take them down even when they were fighting her all at once, without leaving any openings for them to exploit in the FS. Due to Shiki transferring all his abilities to her before his death, she now has a wide variety of abilities to make use of in battle. Thanks to the experiments Team Rocket subjected to her, she now has the exact same wavelength as Pakura Goldstein's aura and have a dormant Phoenix power, though she was not able to replicate the magical abilities the First Princess was mentioned to have.

She is one of the most powerful women alive. Her telepathy has various functions that allow her to read, influence, control, and communicate with the minds of others even from a far distance, and generate telepathic force blasts that can stun or kill others. She can also mentally manipulate a target such as causing hallucinations, and take away their bodily functions and shut down certain parts of the mind. If concentrated, she can also suppress abilities.

Her signature ability, Ice Manipulation is strong enough to cause ice burns and can also manipulate fire with icy properties and freeze absolutely anything drop the temperature to absolute zero. Due to her ability, she herself is immune to the effects. She was also given additional abilities and weapons via her Pactum with Shiki in the AV. However, since her partner is now deceased, she is no longer able to call forth her artifacts, nor is given any additional aura support.

Immense Endurance: Amethyst appears impervious to pain. She can even take having her limbs cut off as if it were nothing. Though blows still damage her, it doesn't slow her down or incapacitate her. Her pain resistance, coupled with what looks like a total disregard for her own life makes her almost unstoppable. Even though Trip stabbed her in the chest with a knife breaking some of her ribs and ripping through muscle, she still managed to catch hold of him without releasing so much as a gasp, and seemed unfazed at the fact that the knife stuck out of her back, and later removed the knife without a grimace, while the others who were watching actually winced for her.

Muscle Control: Amethyst has an excellent control over her muscles, preventing Trip from retracting his knife when he stabbed her. It is possible that she is able to prevent her injuries from bleeding by contracting her muscles (although it is not necessary, since she had healing powers), as even though her chest was pierced, only a little blood was seen on her clothes, which is unusual for a knife stab, especially one that is fatal.

Immense Speed and Reflexes: Her distinctive fighting style is her speed, matched with her surgical-like accuracy. Her speed is among the highest, if not the highest, in the Elite. She is one of the fastest characters in the series, being able to avoid even gun projectiles with ease, wipe out a whole group of professional fighters in the blink of an eye, dodge continuous attack from Rosaline's close combat punches and kicks without moving from her position, and dodge things so fast it looked like the attack phrased through her, or she had teleported. She can disappear out of sight and move at speeds that even experienced fighters like her Elites are unable to follow and to many it seemed that she was invisible. Sometimes, she made use of her speed to create multiple afterimages of herself to confuse her opponent.

Immense Agility: Amethyst is able to attack from every direction while darting around at impressive speed, recovering her position immediately right after an exchange of blows and assaulting her target relentlessly. She can also run on the sides of buildings and easily jump horizontally from one to another.

Enhanced Stamina: She was able to train for long hours and continuing fighting her Elites shortly after that without breaking a sweat, and was able to dodge nearly every attack from her Elites and move at immense speeds during training. She has never been seen tired after any of her fights (with the exception of Ash's), even after severe physical effort, mental strain and aura consumption and was stated to be able to fight for a week straight.

Immense Durability: Amethyst has a sturdier body than normal, as and even after taking multiple punches and attacks from her own Elites, she was barely injured. Not even Ash, who can easily injure even Jude, managed to inflict a significant injury on her despite the fact that she was caught off guard. As a child, she was trained to endure large amounts of electricity, as Team Rocket members often electrocuted her for training and punishment. As a result, she is able to withstand high-voltage electrical currents while retaining her full mental and physical functions. However, she mentioned that she still felt the pain. Also, due to her torture "training", Amethyst became resistant to a great number of poisons, toxins, chemicals and even drugs. She can also survive a blow that would be fatal to normal aura users and even survived being hit 30000 feet in the air without the use of telekinesis to slow down her momentum and just got up without a problem.

High Strength: Amethyst is considerably much stronger physically than most of her Elites, ranking number two in terms of strength, just behind Jude (without the help of her aura). She is able to lift objects that are far heavier than herself and throw it with one arm, and flip people over to the ground with her right arm with ease, despite her left hand being the more dominant one. She can create a fissure in the ground by striking it with one finger, shatter a stone pillar into smithereens just by punching it without getting injured, and break bones easily, like how she did to one of her targets, crushing his arm under her grip.

Prenatural Perception: Amethyst has proven to be able to sense not only the presence, but also the position of people hidden who concealed their presences. She also has the ability to see into a person's potential, and predict how far they would go. Partially due to her vast fighting experience, Amethyst is capable of discerning a person's strength by looking at them; on one occasion, she detected a very strong individual nearby (later revealed to be Ash) and measured his potential without even seeing or recognizing him beforehand. She can also predict the opponent's movements just by seeing their slight movements and relying on her enhanced hearing and react accordingly without the help of her psychic power.

Proficient Marksman: Amethyst fights mainly with her gun, throwing knives, and bow and arrows. It should be noted she was able to hit eight targets in a split second with her gun, and she was stated to never miss her targets, even if there were obstacles in the way.

Proficient Strategist: She proved herself to be excellent at finding an enemy's weak spots in a fight, learning the pattern of their movements before they attack and formulating plans accordingly. She was able to point out the flaw of Ash's Indomitable Will, and knows what psychic power Indomitable Will does not actually block. She was able to outwit even Phillip in Pokemon battling and fighting in general, although in other areas, she may not be as smart as him. Despite this, she is still a very skilled tactician.

Master Hand to Hand Combatant: Though she doesn't show it too often, she is very skilled in unarmed combat. Part of her strength is said to derive from the fact she does not hesitate to kill. She managed to put up a good fight against Ash, using her skills at unarmed combat almost exclusively to block and dodge, enhanced by her abilities. She managed to take on three of her Elites and avoid attacks at the last second in order to prevent them from exploiting her openings, keeping an eye on all three of them the whole time.

Master Weapon Specialist: Amethyst is an unrivaled master in the usage of a paper fan as one of her main weapons. Using her aura, she throws them with ease and lethal accuracy like a boomerang, or wields them as razor-sharp blades, enough to cut through diamond. When she combines this with her Wind Manipulation, they become even deadlier weapons. She is notably particularly proficient with a gun, bow and arrow and a sword and can throw knives with deadly accuracy even if her back is turned towards her target. She was also able to defeat and kill a few skilled combatants wielding just a normal pen. She was stated to know how to use most of the weapons in the training gym underground.

History[]

How foolish, Rosaline. How foolish. And now, you'll learn the hard way.
~ Amethyst's cold nature as a result of her tragic life
At the end of the day, however, she is still a broken little girl who just wanted somebody to love her unconditionally and never leave her.
~ Jude on Amethyst

Not much is known about her early life, but she was known to be abused by her parents because they think she was cursed. As a child, she would try to connect with the Blackthorn people from her cell, being kind to them and greeting them with a smile. However, being a Cursed Child made them hostile towards her and openly ostracized and resented her, even insulting and throwing things at her. The children also treated her the same way due to the influence from their parents and the Elders.

Backstory[]

As Team Rocket's Experimental weapon[]

Amethyst was originally a child who tried to live a happy life despite her isolation, and hid the fact that she was born a genius to prove to them that she was a normal person, but the day she was given to Team Rocket as her parents no longer wanted her, she began to change as she was constantly experimented on and trained as a weapon. When she truly realized her mother no longer wanted her, she became depressed and submitted to the evil organization with no hope of anyone loving her.

Her Rescue and her journey[]

Ten years later, the base she was imprisoned in was visited by Shiki Kurobane, and the boy knocked out all the guards and stole the key that lead to her cell. Shiki was trying to fulfill his vow but Amethyst had never seen someone sport such a side for her and was quite amazed, though she thought it was her imagination because she had just been thrown into the cell, starving and tired. Shiki took care of her, bought her new clothes and cleaned her up, helped in her therapy of her fear of Pokemon, and even giving her her very first Egg which later hatched into an Eevee. The Eevee became her unofficial starter, and she started on her Pokemon Journey with Shiki, while trying to find out what was it that she wanted to do.

As part of her therapy, she started doing things girls generally like, such as baking, dressing up dolls, and grooming the Pokemon. She happened to watch a Pokemon Contest happening in the PAL Region, and told Shiki she wanted to participate in the Pokemon Contests. Shiki agreed, and they ventured to the said region for her to participate in them. Back then, she lost a fair number of times, but never gave up, as she had Shiki by her side. Eventually, she won all 40 Ribbons in the PAL Region. Due to the fact that she had won all 40 Ribbons within eight months (it broke the record of an unknown Coordinator of one year), she was labelled as a Legendary Coordinator. As she saw everyone cheering and clapping and Shiki's proud smile, for the first time, she was happy.

By then, however, she had heard about Pokemon Showcases and she and Shiki traveled to the Kalos Region for her to participate in them. She got the three Princess Keys needed, and participated in the Master Class, defeating each one of her opponents, thereby winning the tiara and the title of Kalos Queen. For the next two years, she would collect more Princess Keys in order to defend her title. (AV only) Everyone in Kalos loved her cheerful smile, and she was complemented for her adorable charm that attracted everyone. She defended her title for three years before giving it up to pursue something better in the PAL Region at Shiki's suggestion.

In the PAL Region[]

She then traveled to the PAL Region to collect the Battle Gym symbols, and participated in the Hunter Exam, securing her job as a Blacklist Hunter alongside her fiancé. She then participated in the 50th Trainer's Tournament (25th in the FS). As it was a Quarter Anniversary, she partnered up with Shiki, and they brilliantly won the competition, allowing them the right to challenge the Hunter Association Chairman to see if they are worthy of ruling and protecting the region.

They won, and Kenneth was impressed with their performance, crowning them the Prince and Princess of PAL, and the very first duo to do so. From there, they created an Elite Four with specific requirements, and managed to get two members in the team. At some point, she managed to secure the PAL Duchess title, and heard that as the winner of the previous Master Class competition, she would have a guaranteed spot in the final round, where she must defend her title. She was somewhat regretful that the system in Kalos changed to the same as well, but did not pay much mind, since she already gave up the title for another.

Tragedy of the Dragon Duo[]

Tragedy struck the two once more, when after a mission, Amethyst spotted her former family, and began chasing them down, despite Shiki's warnings. While Amethyst found an opening to win the fight, she hesitated to strike down her family, allowing them to counter-attack, but Shiki blocked the killing blow. During the fight, Shiki took the blow meant for Amethyst to protect his fiancee, and got stabbed in the chest. Her killing instincts awakened the moment Shiki was stabbed, and she gained a new ability- Ice Manipulation, and brutally cut up her family members.

As Amethyst's healing powers are unable to remove poisons at that time (it turned out there was poison in the blade that stabbed Shiki), Shiki transferred his powers and gave her his Pokemon, and eventually succumbed to the poison, sending Amethyst into another depressive state, but used her new powers to kill everyone that tried to attack her. She escaped with Shiki's body, destorying the base in the process. Amethyst later made an icy grave for Shiki.

Travelling once more and Investigation of the First Princess[]

Amethyst decided to throw away her Dragon Princess identity, and manipulated her way to get the Princess position once more as herself to gain access to the forbidden information on the technique needed to resurrect Shiki at the cost of her own life. She knew that if she went back as the Dragon Princess, questions would be asked, hence her decision. Amethyst decided to travel the regions once more to collect the Ribbons from other regions, and won all the Grand Festivals, looking for someone that could take the Champion position.

At one point when travelling the world for information, she learnt that the First Princess Pakura Goldstein had a chest that contained ÄRMs (or Magica) she had made from Devil Arms (which retained a defeated devil's abilities but the soul is absent) which she had did in hopes that one day someone worthy would find and unlock the chest which would restore the hibernating Caldia City that was reduced to a wasteland due to a previous war, though she dismissed it as a mere story. However, when she found out that Pakura had the ability to time travel and travel through dimensions, she began to wonder about the authenticity of the information.

When Benzene Von Karma came along as the Elite Four manager, he used her and sold her into prostitution to affluent associates of his (he initially wanted to sell all of them, but Amethyst confronted him and made a deal with him to protect the other three and their families). However, she used this to her advantage with her new found powers, making her victims write wills where everything goes to her before killing them as part of her killing spree after Shiki died. This allowed her to own many assets and properties, and material wealth, while leaving the victims' families (if any) with nothing.

Finding Ash and her Hidden Plans[]

She found the perfect Champion in the form of a betrayed Ash, took him in and trained him to become a ruthless killer and dedicated protector of the region like her, convincing him that it would prove his so-called friends wrong. In the AV, she had more influence since she travelled with him for six years. Ash eventually took the Elite Challenge and narrowly defeated her, becoming the very first Champion of the region, and gaining the Prince title. However, she had to pay a price as she displeased her manager for losing to Ash, causing him to destroy her favourite music box that Shiki had given her. Deep, boiling, anger took over her, her music box, her source of comfort, was destroyed. She decided that he couldn't live (In the AV, she was spurred on by Shiki who was created from her Schizophrenia), and she tortured him the very same night for more than twelve hours (more than forty days in the AV), and disposing his cut up corpse in the sea to be devoured by Carvanha and Sharpedo.

From that point, Amethyst began planning the resurrection of the Dragon Prince to take her place as the Leader of the Elite Four for the region's sake, and take out Rosaline so he could take her place as the Psychic specialist, since she never accepted Rosaline in the first place or at least remove her from the Elites if she could. And kill her, she would. If they get in her way, she'll gladly face them, and take them out as well.

However, she had another problem as well. Since she was the only successful result in the experiments all those years ago, she knew the evil organization would look for her and exploit her as a weapon once more. This time, it would be against her region.

In other stories[]

Amethyst appeared in PAL Academy as one of the top students in school and having a Special Star rank. She is also the most popular girl in school, though she loathe the attention. She was implied to have a abusive family. She is part of the Student Council as the Vice-President and the Vice Chairman of her class.

Amethyst also appeared in Heartsong Symphony as Ash's travelling companion, with her goal being to collect the five Princess Keys and compete in the Master Class and become the new PAL Duchess. She reprises her role as the Leader of the Elite Four and the regional Princess, which remained unknown to Ash.

She will teach Ash the ways of aura and make him train up his Pokemon while travelling with him and meet her significant other who will help her get over the horrors of her mysterious past that killed her fiancé two years prior.

Amethyst will appear in the Ashura Kurobane series, reprising her role as the PAL Princess and the role of Shiki's wife, and mother of Ashura.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being one of the antagonists of the story, she was one of the most popular characters among fans. Readers often ship her with Ash, the PAL Champion, which was eventually dubbed as RoyalShipping.
  • She is the only ruler that is known to be a villain, or at least went against the others in her quest.
  • Amethyst could be considered an Evil Twin, considering her uncanny resemblance to the first Princess Pakura Goldstein. However, due to her more mature features and somewhat different DNA, she was perceived as taller, more curvaceous and even more beautiful than Pakura Goldstein.
  • Amethyst was supposed to be killed off due to her image as an irredeemable psychopathic villainess despite her past in order to end her misery she was living in. However, due to her character popularity, the readers' wish that she would stay alive in the story and the fact that they sympathized with her, the idea was scrapped, and instead, she was going to helped by the other Elites (Despite the fact that she tried to kill them) to get over her fiancé's death and hopefully move on.
  • She is a very unique villain, demonstrating friendship feelings for her other Elites, such as making Phillip his favorite desserts whenever she could, allowing Jude to frost her cookies and cakes she would bake, and agreeing to go on a long trip to get seashells for a paint Rosaline had wanted, and other things that made the others genuinely love her, and she seemed to like them in return. However, due to her hatred eventually consuming her, it put a strain in their personal relationship.
  • Her role as a hero or villain is extremely complicated, as while she attacked the other Elites by choice, she had a good reason to go against the other Elites. What is more, she was a victim of circumstance, and had only wanted to resurrect Shiki to help her region, since she felt she no longer had a purpose in life.
  • Amethyst bears some similarities to Vergil from Devil May Cry:
    • Both are extremely fast and have excellent reflexes.
    • Both are excellent in wielding a sword.
    • Both are related to someone powerful (Vergil for his father, Amethyst for her family who is a politically powerful family in the Dragon Clan)
    • Both failed to protect someone they love, hence their quest for power.
    • Both of them share some similar abilities, such as healing factors and teleportation.
    • Both of them fought the person they love or once loved in battle.
    • Both tend to kill their opponents and lack remorse when doing so.
    • Both of them are cold, collected and cynical.
    • They also have a serious, power-driven, and ruthless character.
    • They have no regard on the well-being of people around them, though Amethyst herself did not value her own life, and cared more about the well-being of the region.
    • Both witnessed someone they love die in front of them (Vergil for his mother, Amethyst for her fiancé)
    • Both are also Byronic Heroes.
    • Both traveled to find more information on a certain someone. (Vergil for his father, Amethyst for the first Princess Pakura and her legacy. In addition to her quest for a certain power, she was also looking for someone to take the position of Champion for her region).
    • Both were defeated at the hand of someone close or once close to them.
    • Both got corrupted by their quest for power, though Amethyst's corruption were also caused by other reasons (namely her mental illnesses).
    • Both used to be sweet kids in their youth.
    • Both are the villainous version of the Ace, which later got subverted when they were defeated. However, Amethyst was more of a Broken Ace and was a living legend on her own means.
    • Someone approached them and offered their alliance. However, unlike Vergil, Amethyst simply killed the person, quoting that she worked alone.
    • Both are failure intolerant. However, Amethyst's is to the point of abusing Rosaline and using her for her own gain, and went as far as to humiliate her in public and tearing down her reputation. Eventually, she even succeeded in getting her removed from the Elites.
    • Both have their own set of morals when fighting.
    • Both of them were controlled (Vergil by Mundus, and Amethyst by Giratina via Scarlet Anger, though it only applies to Amethyst in the AV)
    • Both of them are anti-heroes/anti-villains, though Amethyst is actually a good person in the end.
  • However, there are also differences between the two:
    • Amethyst, unlike Vergil, never knew what family love was.
    • Amethyst actually never wanted Shiki's powers for herself, unlike Vergil who wanted his father's powers.
    • Amethyst also eventually gave up on her goal to revive her fiancé, as she was satisfied with what she had.
    • Amethyst, unlike Vergil, doesn't display confidence in her own abilities.
    • Amethyst mainly utilizes manipulation, cunning and her charm to get what she wants, while Vergil does not.
    • Amethyst also suffers from mental illnesses, snapping at the world's relentless cruelty and her own building insanity, while Vergil doesn't.
    • Amethyst, unlike Vergil, can be considered a hero.
    • Amethyst uses guns as one of her weapons, unlike Vergil who stayed true to his blade.
    • Amethyst thought strength comes from the feelings of one's heart while Vergil thought that feelings equaled weakness.
