~ Dikiy to Governor Alexandrov |
Andrey Dikiy, born Andrey Ivanovich Zankevich, is a minor antagonist in The New Order: Last Days of Europe, a mod of Hearts of Iron 4. He is a foreign minister of Komi under Sergey Taboritsky's reign.
He serves as a supporting character in Taborisky's storyline. In the After Midnight event, Dikiy serves as a side antagonist and a potential playable character of the event, after he betrays the Holy Russian Empire and becomes the leader of his own regime, known as the Regency of Holy Russia.
He is also the archenemy of Michal Goleniewnsky, who declared himself as Alexei II and started a socialist version of the Russian Empire.
Overview[]
Andrey Dikiy is the leader of the Regency of Holy Russia in Far East, which is one of the splinter factions created by former Holy Russian Empire’s personnel, and he is based on a historical figure of the same name. He is also the archenemy of Alexei II, real name Michael Golenwski, who established a new Russian Empire with a shade of socialism ideology to save Russia while pretending to be a Romanov family member (and thus became a threat to Dikiy).
Biography[]
Formerly being a member of Sergey Taborisky’s circle, Dikiy rose in the ranks by gleefully assisting Taborisky into committing all kinds of atrocities during his service in Taborisky’s reign of terror.
Dikiy pretended to be loyal to the Mad Regent, but instead he was a power hungry and greedy scum, who desired power for himself and seek pleasure and power from assisting those war crimes.
After Taborisky’s demise, Dikiy immediately turned against the Holy Russian Empire when the time had arrived. He took over the Far East, particularly the land owned by Valery Sablin – Buryatia.
After that, Dikiy absorbed the remnants of Konstantin Rodzaevsky’s Russian Fascist Party under his own wings. Soon, he backstabbed his former colleagues and rivals, before establishing his own faction, known as the so-called Regency of the Holy Russia.
In order to justify his so-called right to succeed the Regent’s place, Dikiy made up a lie that he would give up his power and handed it over to the real Prince Alexei as soon as he returned. However, Dikiy knew perfectly well that Alexei would never return, and as such he will sit on the Regent’s seat once and for all until his demise, marking his reign of terror a lifelong term.
As time itself progressed, Dikiy became more and more paranoid and unstable, often switching his moods between sobbing in despair and drenching himself into a delusional grandeur. However, once Michael Golenwski established a new (but socialist-styled) Russian Empire and declaring himself as Alexei II, Dikiy immediately took actions to attack Golenwski’s forces, seeing the latter as a fake Tsar whilst Dikiy himself is a much worse person that tried to wrestle the power for eternity. Ironically, Dikiy’s turf was settled in Sablin’s former state, while Golenwski’s Russian Empire was based in Yagoda’s state.
If Dikiy had reunified Russia (after the player chose the Regency of the Holy Russia), his new regime would be known as the Eternal Regency of Holy Russia, solidifying the truth that Dikiy wanted to become the next Taborisky for a lifetime, even without any genuine (if not fanatical) devotion to Prince Alexei at all.
Personality[]
Dikey lacks several mitigating factors that many of his colleagues have. Most notably, he does not care anything about Taborisky’s half-Jewish heritage. From the beginning, Dikey only served his own benefits while pretending to be the utmost loyal official under the Holy Russian Empire’s service.
However, his true color was shown immediately after Taborisky’s death, when he backstabbed his rivals and his former colleagues, absorbed the disbanded Russian Fascist Party into his own faction, and taking over Sablin’s land, all in the goal of making himself the Regent forever.
His further crimes committed after Taborisky’s death included capture and execution of his own rival, absorbing the surviving remnants of the disbanded Russian Fascist Party under his wings, and attempting to achieve a goal of becoming the Regent of Russia. Finally, he will establish the Eternal Regency of Holy Russia before going on a purge against anyone that defied him.
Notably, he committed the crime under a lie that he would surrender his power to Alexei when or if the “missing” prince had return, but Dikiy knew that Alexei’s return would never happen. As a result, he deliberately joined Taborisky’s cause solely to benefit himself, and he remained to be the calmest one of the Holy Russian Empire’s remnants.
As a matter of fact, Dikey did not flinch about Taborisky’s origin story, meaning that he either knew it all along, saw it as a chance to seek power for himself, or simply did not care. For all it mattered to him, Dikey only seek to take over Taborisky’s legacy and power at the beginning of his service in the Holy Russian Empire, and he had his rivals and former colleagues backstabbed, before taking Sablin’s land for himself to converse it into a land full of Fascists devoted to him only, which will become a land that behaved like a Russian counterpart to Himmler’s Burgundian System (as Imperial Cult is a sub-ideology of Esoteric Nazism after all).
Dikey might not be as insane as Taborisky himself, and his onscreen atrocities was not enough to make him one of the worst in TNO’s dark world. However, that makes him even more hateful, as he knew what he was doing from the beginning, and he tried to benefit his own needs without being as loyal to Taborisky as he seemed (or proclaimed himself) to be when Taborisky was alive.
The National Spirit of the Regency of Holy Russia, named “All Alone” states that Dicky acknowledges his situation being desperate, and he became paranoid over the time, switching back and forth between delusions of grandeur and sobbing bouts of despair. However, there is no tragic lights painted on his situation, as he was a man with zero conscious. Dikiy had become increasingly paranoid just because of how power hungry he was. He deemed the newly established “Alexei II” as his sworn enemy, and he even suspected his bodyguards to be traitors, all because they were threats to his authority.
Trivia[]
- Originally, Dikiy was planned to be made into the Esoteric Nazism leader of Komi, under a sub-ideology of Neopegan Extremism.
- However, in the completed version, Sergey Taboritsky later becomes the Esoteric Nazism leader of Komi, while Dikiy has become his minister and only takes power after Taborisky's death.
- Another notable thing was the nearly 50% of red part occupying his ideological pie chart beside his purple part (representing his own ideology of Imperial Cult, based on Esoteric Nazism). Still, the socialism part was most likely not part of Dikey’s own faction (as he only absorbed the Russian Fascist Part’s remnants into his party), but Sablin’s remants, who had been possibly fighting against him in secret. In reality, he had no left-winged supporters nor accept socialism.
- Dikiy can be considered to be the second most evil post-Midnight Warlord next to Abaddon, and the most evil Imperial Cult warlord in the event. Basically, this is because of him having a unique share of heinousness, that he gained profits for himself while committing Taborisky's crime, and he started his own Regent to take a lifelong power, instead of either struggling for survival, falling under standard villainy or merely replicating Taborisky's own action.
