| ~ Anna |
Anna is the main protagonist of the 2025 Frozen fan song "In Her Shadow Still". She is a villainous adaptation of the character from the film, being the Queen of Arendelle who seeks to surpass her sister Elsa.
She was voiced by Suno AI.
Biography[]
This version of Anna's story begins similarly to how it did in the original Disney version: Anna was born as a princess to the kingdom of Arendelle. Anna's older sister Elsa had cryokenetic abilities, a byproduct of her mother's Northuldra heritage. Anna and Elsa spent a lot of time together as children until an accident caused Elsa to hurt Anna with her ice magic. Anna was taken to magical trolls, who healed her but instructed the king and queen to keep Elsa' ice powers a secret from Anna from that point on.
They agreed, but also kept the two sisters apart for the rest of their childhoods, with Elsa becoming cold towards Anna and constantly refusing her attempts to go and play. When the two were adults, their parents tragically died at sea, leaving the sisters to grieve in isolation. Three years later, Anna's hope is renewed for Elsa's coronation, a day that will see the castle gates open for the first time in forever. With her irrepressible optimism, Anna dreams of finding love and companionship to fill the void left by her years of solitude. During the celebration, she meets and instantly falls for the charming Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, leading to a hasty engagement that is met with Elsa's disapproval. The tension over the engagement causes Elsa to lose control of her powers, plunging Arendelle into an eternal winter and fleeing to the North Mountain.
Anna sets out on a quest to bring her sister home and reverse the curse. This journey introduces her to rugged ice harvester Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, and the magically animated snowman Olaf, all of whom join her on her mission. Upon reaching Elsa's ice palace, Anna tries to reason with her sister, but Elsa's fear again gets the best of her, and she accidentally strikes Anna in the heart with ice, setting a new curse in motion. Kristoff races Anna to the trolls, who reveal that only "an act of true love" can thaw her frozen heart. Believing a kiss from Hans is the only solution, Anna returns to Arendelle, where she discovers Hans's true nature: a manipulative villain who planned to usurp the throne all along.
Abandoned to die, Anna is saved by Olaf, who helps her realize that Kristoff truly loves her. In the film's climax, she makes a selfless choice: seeing Hans poised to kill Elsa, Anna sacrifices her own chance at a kiss from Kristoff and leaps in front of her sister, freezing solid to protect her. This heroic act constitutes the "act of true love" needed to save her, and her heart thaws, proving that the bond of sisterly love is the most powerful magic of all. Elsa, understanding this, lifts the winter, Kristoff and Anna begin a relationship, and the sisters' relationship is fully healed.
Three years after the gates of Arendelle were permanently opened, Anna is content, surrounded by Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. However, this peace is disrupted when a mysterious voice calls to Elsa, drawing her away and reawakening the spirits of an enchanted forest. Anna, now more mature but still fiercely protective of her sister, insists on joining her, fearing she will lose her again.
As they venture into the forest and uncover their family's past, Anna grows more worried about Elsa's growing recklessness. The sisters learn the truth about their grandfather's unjust war against the Northuldra people and the enchanted forest. When Elsa sends Anna and Olaf away to protect them before crossing the Dark Sea alone, Anna feels abandoned, her deepest fear seemingly realized.
While in a cave, Anna and Olaf see a statue of her own grandfather murdering the Northuldra chief. Olaf fades away, confirming Elsa has been lost. Devastated, Anna decides to do "the next right thing," even in the face of despair. She realizes the dam built by her grandfather is weakening the spirits and must be destroyed. With Kristoff's help, she lures the Earth Giants to the dam and tricks them into destroying it with boulders, demonstrating courage and leadership.
By destroying the dam, Anna liberates the forest and frees the spirits, including Elsa, who was frozen in a moment of truth. Elsa returns and saves Arendelle from the resulting flood. Elsa, having embraced her identity as the fifth spirit of the forest, abdicates the throne to Anna, acknowledging her as a true and noble leader.
Anna is crowned Queen of Arendelle, but remains insecure in her own identity and purpose. She realizes that she is still "ordinary" and Elsa is able to be free while she is trapped in "royal stress." She decides to prove that she is no longer the "lesser of the two", plotting to kill Elsa and subjugate the world, magic or not. She sings about her plan, before going out to try to enact it.
However, Elsa has become more and more obsessed with her love for Anna. She believes despite everything Anna did for her kingdom, she is still "that girl who believed in fairy tale joys". She faces Anna, and berates her for thinking she knows what "true power looks like." She tells Anna that she does not understand darkness, and she can "have her throne" but only in a world of eternal winter where she can never be hurt again. It is probable that she enacts her plans, and it is unlikely Anna succeeded in her villainous plot to surpass her.
Personality[]
Anna started out as an affectionate and hopeful girl who seeks love and connection. Despite Elsa's repeated rejections, she continued to seek a relationship with her sister.
However, after becoming Queen of Arendelle, she falls into rage and anger. She believes that Elsa has taken her for granted, and plots to take over the world in an attempt to surpass her. She remains unaware Elsa has become so obsessed with "protecting" her that she has fallen into darkness, and when she discovers this during a confrontation with her sister, it is too late.
