The Ao Oni is the main antagonist of the One Last Escape franchise, which is based on the role-playing game Ao Oni. He is the main antagonist of both One Last Escape and its sequel, The One Very Last Escape.
It is a creature that lives in an abandoned mansion and seeks prey to visitors in his mansion if they ever set foot inside. While not much is known, it has been claimed that the Oni has been doing this for at least 200 years. While the original version of the Oni is a generic man-eating creature, this version of the Oni is far worse, as he keeps hundreds of bodies inside a room and eventually bites Blockman in half for insubordination.
After his first defeat by Satoshi and his friends, the Oni returned as a cyborg thanks to the efforts of Dr. Kentaro and started causing a rampage in Nagoya not once, but twice.

Personality[]
While the Oni is mostly shown as an emotionless being, the Oni can show bloodthirst, sadism and anger at times throughout the story. This is hinted throughout the story that he shows sadism in eating Hiroshi's arm and part of his torso and gets angered at Blockman for not attacking Satoshi, Yoichi, Kana, Ryoba and Kazuya. Unlike his original game version, the Oni can speak basic English at least, being able to understand human language.
The Oni is shown to be very intelligent and stealthy, as he puts keys across the mansion and makes his victims solve riddles in order to open door to door and sometimes, right after a person picks up a key, he starts chasing after them, like chasing Satoshi in the library and trying to get Yoichi in the cell room.
When revived by Dr. Kentaro two years after his original death, the Oni becomes more vengeful than ever due to being killed by Satoshi and his group. Since there is no proof that Kentaro programmed his personality into following him, it's safe to say that the Oni kept his original personality intact.
Adding onto his usual emotionless nature, the Oni also has an extreme lack of empathy, as he pretends to understand Blockman's feelings for Kana, only for him to chomp him in half with no remorse or problem. He also has no sense of honor or mercy at all, as he was willing to devour Satoshi, Yoichi and Ryoba when Kentaro interrogated them. He believes that mercy is for the weak and this was the reason why he betrayed Kentaro by mortally wounding him.

One Last Escape[]
- Over the centuries, it has eaten hundreds of people just for entering his mansion, including Satoshi's brother, Soichiro and the decoy protagonists, Hideo, Asuna and Haruo. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
- Attacks Satoshi's gang out of nowhere, leading them to be separated.
- Tries to pursue Satoshi in the library out of bloodthirst.
- Chases after Hiroshi and Kazuya after finding out his corpse room.
- Tries to pry open the jail cell in an attempt to eat Yoichi, in which the latter nearly faints from fright and later waits for Yoichi to get out of the cell room for the aforementioned reason.
- Bites off Hiroshi's left arm and bits of his torso after he got distracted by a cat when he attempted to finish him off once and for all, which was Kazuya's breaking point in killing the Oni. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
- Sends in Blockman to eat Kana and Ryoba alive when he can't catch anyone (but Hiroshi).
- Attempts to manipulate Kana that Blockman was using her all this time.
- Orders Blockman to kill Satoshi's gang and Kazuya and when he refuses, the Oni pretends to comfort him, only to bite him in half and eating his upper half. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
The One Very Last Escape[]
- As soon as he was revived, he caused a rampage in Kentaro's lab and killed the nurse that revived him until he was stopped by Kentaro.
- In his first rampage in Nagoya, he sliced off buildings with his buzzsaw hand and crumbled them like dominoes and went on to kill thousands of innocent citizens by decapitation or dissection. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
- Knocked Satoshi, Yoichi and Ryoba unconscious by throwing a large piece of boulder at them.
- Slashed Kentaro's chest after an argument of Satoshi, Yoichi and Ryoba's fates when Kentaro chose to imprison them while the Oni chose to devour them. After this, he started killing everyone in Kentaro's lab, including Asuka and Dr. Shimura. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
- He went on to kill more people in Nagoya on his own until he was stopped by the BULLET soldiers and the local police.
- During the battle, the Oni killed off many BULLET soldiers and police officers by cutting them with his buzzsaw.
- When he was poured in lava by Kentaro, he spread lava bits to other soldiers, scalding them to death.
