This is the story of the Ao Oni from the fanfic series, One Last Escape, consisting of One Last Escape and The One Very Last Escape.
Past[]
Like the original game, the Oni has an enigmatic origin, but according to the archives, it hints that the Oni has been around for at least 3000 BC, making him over 5000 years old. He built the mansion around 3000 BC and the mansion has been intact ever since (although this questions to why the mansion's stand in consistent in the present day). According to researches of Dr. Shimura, the Oni's species (called the "aqueous panthera" by the doctor) are not part of the Earth's animal kingdom but is a rather bizarre mutation with a combination of humans (standing upright), whales (the color of its skin) and parts of lions (the sharp teeth) that existed between 2 million years and 500,000 years ago. Shimura also claims that they are omnivorous but mostly lean towards meat. Although his species' lifespan was around 1500-2000 years, the Oni lived up to 5,000 years for questionable and ambiguous reasons.
In 1794, the Oni stumbled across trespassers in his mansion and kept them away by eating them alive, which was the first recorded time the Oni has ever eaten humans and ever since, he has kept prey on hundreds of humans that visited the mansion out of curiosity or break-ins, including Ryota, Takuro, Takeshi (presumably), Soichiro, Naoki, Ken and Rina.
Starting from August 2001, BULLET agents started to notice the concerns of the Oni's mansion, as well as the rumors and hoaxes virally spreading throughout the city that the Oni was devouring any humans who entered his mansion. When investigating the mansion, the Oni attacked the five agents who were in the mansion that day, while one of them survived long enough to send an MP3 player to describe the Oni and Blockman. Sometime before June 1, 2002, the Oni consumed four teenagers by either cutting them in half with his teeth or disemboweling them, according to the archive files from BULLET.
One day in November 2008, the Oni stumbled across six high school students, Hiroshi, Kazuya, Takuro, Takeshi, Megumi and Ryota, who stumbled across the mansion thanks to Takuro and his gang leading Hiroshi and Kazuya into the mansion to "have some real fun" and instead of playing Pokemon Platinum, which the two intended to play that night. The Oni ended up eating Takuro and presumably Takeshi and drowning Ryota in the bathtub, while Megumi, Hiroshi and Kazuya ultimately escaped.
Sometime later, he stumbled across Satoshi's brother, Soichiro Nakai and his gang, Ken, Naoki and Rina and ended up eating them all and could resist Soichiro's kick blows, which led to Mrs. Nakai's overprotectiveness to her other son, Satoshi and the latter getting PTSD.
One Last Escape[]
Eating the Decoy Protagonists[]
One night, decoy protagonists, Hideo Kondo, Asuna Iwamatsu and Haruo Tanaka promise to meet in front of the mansion and as soon as the former comes, the three go inside the mansion to explore (except Haruo, who prefers to stay in front of the foyer). The Oni is first seen growling at Haruo in the kitchen, mildly frightening him. At first, he thinks it is a joke from Asuna but the Oni walks towards Haruo from the second floor. After Haruo insults him by calling him an "overgrown Smurf", angered, the Oni bites off his arm, much to his shock and eats him whole as a second bite, killing him. Haruo's scream alerts Asuna's attention from the bathroom and she goes over to the foyer to see Haruo, only to find a blood stain at a wall, much to her shock. The Oni then comes back at the foyer behind Asuna and drools at her upon the sight. Asuna grabs attention to the Oni only when a drop of saliva drops on her head. The Oni then proceeds to eat Asuna, as she screams for her dear life. Hideo, unaware that his two friends have been eaten, goes out of the living room after getting bored of the TV, only to encounter the Oni. Hideo calls him the "Blueberry Man", causing the Oni to be enraged again and eating Hideo alive. The undisclosed fates of the three were reported the next day, causing Satoshi and his friends to explore the mansion without getting eaten. The Oni isn't seen again for a while, besides being mentioned and in Satoshi's dream flashback of Soichiro and his gang's deaths.
Encountering Satoshi's gang[]
The Oni then sees Satoshi's gang after Satoshi goes to see what was going on in the kitchen. He then attempts to eat the group alive, only to sabotage the group apart. Kazuya then shoots the Oni twice in the torso, paralyzing him and he and Hiroshi separate to find a way out, which causes Satoshi to look for them and worrying about what happened to one of them, after seeing a skull from the bathtub (although it was actually Ryota's corpse 18 years earlier).
The Oni is seen again as a silhouette in the bathroom door but doesn't appear until he comes after Hiroshi and Kazuya after they discovered the room where the Oni keeps all of the victims, with Hideo, Haruo and Asuna's corpses being lifeless and ready to decay. This causes Hiroshi to shoot him in the torso three times, once again paralyzing him temporarily. Seconds later, he is lurking around at the library. As soon as Satoshi gets Bedroom Key No. 2, the Oni seizes opportunity to catch and eat Satoshi, however, Satoshi evades the Oni just in time to outrun him. Seeing that Satoshi is running, the Oni chases towards him up to the second floor and is able to slightly par with his running speed. As soon as Satoshi gets in the Bedroom Door, Kana tells him to lock the door, to which he does just in time for the Oni to prevent them from eating the two. The Oni attempts to pry open the door, but ending up in a failure and gives up to find the others.
Pursuing Yoichi and Eating Hiroshi[]
The Oni is seen once again where it tries to get Yoichi in the cell room but couldn't due to Yoichi closing the cell door. However, he continues to drool and drool for a while, much to Yoichi's confusion. The Oni then grabs his hands to one of the cell bars and tries to pry it open, but to no avail. Unable to pry open the door, the Oni goes out of the cell room and seemingly gives up. However, as soon as Yoichi goes out of the cell room, he starts chasing him to the foyer. His shout for help alerts Satoshi, Hiroshi and Kazuya and they come to Yoichi's rescue. Satoshi tells Yoichi to jump out of the way, to which the latter reluctantly does so, for Hiroshi to shoot the Oni once.
Hiroshi, knowing that the Oni always comes back, prepares to finish him by grabbing Yoichi's dagger and tells Kazuya, Satoshi and Yoichi to flee while he finishes the deal. As he is about to stab him in the heart, a cat distracts him, only for the Oni to quickly get back up and eat Hiroshi's left arm off, to which he shouts in pain and the Oni replies he has got the "human with glasses after 20 years" and takes his very life out by eating a part of his torso, leaving him to bleed out to death, causing Kazuya to become obsessed killing the Oni.
Releasing Blockman[]
After hearing Ryoba's shriek from the foyer upon seeing Hiroshi's lifeless corpse, the Oni then chases after Ryoba to the library. Ryoba, thinking that hiding under the desk would be safe, goes under the desk, only for the Oni to flip the table and surrounds Ryoba as he tries to eat her. The Oni, however, is grazed with a bullet shot by Kazuya, rescuing Ryoba. Kazuya claims this is a warning shot and lets Ryoba run to the archive room. However, it is possible after this, the Oni sent Blockman to go after Ryoba, Kana and the rest to gather them in the basement.
First Battle and Defeat[]
As soon as Satoshi grabs a shovel from the basement room, he feels an eerie presence and knowing it's the Oni hides in the closet. The Oni, however, doesn't notice Satoshi, shrugs it off quickly and goes up to the first floor. As Satoshi gathers his friends, Kazuya and Blockman to the exit, the Oni is seen guarding the ladder and tells the gang that Blockman was using them all this time and orders Blockman to attack the five, but Blockman couldn't due to his attachment of Kana. The Oni, seemingly sympathizing with Blockman, pretends to talk him out, only for the Oni to bite Blockman in half three times, to the point Kana breaks down in tears. As Blockman is bitten in half, the Oni eats his upper half and lounges at Kana to eat her, only for Satoshi to shove Kana out of the way and biting his right index finger instead.
Kazuya then gets an idea for everyone to run to the plank area, so he can finish the Oni once and for all by shooting him and then falling into the spike pit below. The Oni demands them to come back and as they come to a stop, the Oni tells them this ends here now, but not after Kazuya shoots him in the head, which causes him to lose his balance and fall into the spike pit into his first gruesome but satisfying death, combining with 9 bullets shot in his body and the impact/sharpness of the spikes upon his fall. It is revealed in the conclusion that he trapped souls there, although it is unseen.
The One Very Last Escape[]
Resurrection as an AI[]
Two years after it's initial death, he would be discovered by Dr. Kentaro and his assistant, Asuka and sought to revive him by enhancing his body with tungsten.
Kentaro spends day and night on trying to revive the Oni in order to get revenge on society for rejecting him, much to the concern of his co-workers and his assistant, Asuka. The Oni is later revived by a nurse using CPR to revive him. As soon as the Oni is revived, he causes chaos around the lab and already killed the nurse that revived him. The Oni is calmed down by Kentaro and convinces the Oni that he will join him in the Oni's revenge on humans, as Kentaro himself wants said revenge too. The two then make a deal about causing rampage in Nagoya so the Oni can be satisfied for his bloodthirst. Before he can do anything, Kentaro tests the Oni's strength and durability by slicing a giant cube of iron, deflecting a rapid-firing gun and slicing the said gun in half.
Instigating the Nagoya Massacre[]
Thanks to Dr. Kentaro, the Oni is unleashed in the streets of Nagoya by an unknown transport and starts rampaging Nagoya by sawing off random buildings and dissecting humans who tried to flee. He claims that they are worthless species and are just like parasites. Sheriff Saito then plans a shootdown on the Oni, as he gathers all the police officers around. The amount of ammo that the officers shoot doesn't have any effect on the Oni, not even the head, which Kazuya suggested to the sheriff. Seeing that the bullets are no use anymore, the officers flee from the Oni, with a few of them meeting their demise at the Oni's buzzsaw hands.
As Satoshi, Yoichi, Kana and Ryoba arrive to throw grenades at him, this still doesn't work on the Oni, as he is immune to the explosions. As he sees Satoshi, he cuts up a boulder chunk, slices the boulder into many pieces and kicks them towards the heroes, which successfully knocks Satoshi, Yoichi and Ryoba unconscious. Sometime after this, it is possible and heavily implied that the Oni decided to eat the three immediately before he was stopped by Kentaro.
Betraying Kentaro[]
As the three wake up, they are interrogated by Kentaro but the Oni interrupts the interrogation by trying to eat the three alive before Kentaro stops him. However, Kentaro tries to explain the difference between captives and humans to make the Oni not eat them, to which the Oni gets them confused.
They later get into an argument where the Oni believes that being good is weak, so is having mercy. As the argument gets more heated, Kentaro threatens the scientists to reprogram him into serving him as a servant, to which the Oni feels angered for being a pawn of a human and as a result deeply scars Kentaro across the chest with his buzzsaw and goes on a rampage across Kentaro's lab and killing all of the doctors and scientists that are present, including Dr. Shimura and Asuka.
Final Battle and Death[]
Soon after, the Oni ended up back in Nagoya again, only to cause a rampage once more, intending to destroy the entire city. However, he is cornered by BULLET soldiers, the local police officers and the military, who are ready to fight him to the death. While standard firearms don't work on him, tanks manage to cause some minor dents on him. Due to this, the Oni charges at the military and he creates a massive chase that involves the military running away. The Oni shreds the officers one by one, as the other BULLET soldiers (which includes the main heroes) and Kentaro's lava pit are on their way.
Kentaro and the others arrive shortly after to pour extremely hot molten lava on the Oni. As the lava is poured on the Oni, the tungsten parts on the Oni start to come off due to the extreme heat. However, the Oni survives long enough to spew out molten bits of lava on other soldiers, so they can burn to death. The Oni then creates a ring of magma that traps the soldiers and eats one soldier who is begging for mercy, which disgusts Sheriff Saito and Kazuya. The Oni claims that he is invincible before Satoshi shoots him in the head, ultimately ending his reign of terror for good.
