The Arctic Being was the disguise of cetologist Dr. Tahlia Mercíer and served as the main antagonist of the Scooby-Doo!: 3000 season 1 episode "The Cold-Blooded Chase Case".
The Arctic Being was voiced by Mindy Kohn while Tahlia was voiced by Alexandra Khaine.
Biography[]
The Arctic Being first appeared when she floated across a frozen river and encountered Dr. Ammon, threatening him to get out of Antarctica. The gang was called over to the Argentina Research Facility for help on solving the matter, and not very long after the Arctic Being already appeared and started chasing Shaggy and Scooby. When they got at recourse tents, the Arctic Being started searching for them, and Shaggy decides to use trickery wits from "the good old days" to trick the monster, in which they start dancing with the being while in other costumes. After the being notices them through their charade, she immediately starts growling and Shaggy & Scooby walk away.
A few moments later, while searching the Argentine facility, the being puts off the electricity and kidnaps Fred. When Daphne and Velma finally caught up to them, the being had already started lowering Fred into a ice crusher, but was thankfully stopped by Velma. The Arctic Being then got mad, and started to chase the gang all over the landscape. After out-running her, the gang comes across an underwater facility full of narwhal teeth, and they started piecing things together, all while the Being was trying to get Shaggy and Scooby to drown. However, they manage to out-run her and then don't see her until much later.
The gang then set up a trap using dry ice, a ghost costume and gum to scare the monster into a net. However, once she appeared and Shaggy starts trying to scare her, she sees through the disguise and pools off the costume, then starts chasing Shaggy. However, once she saw has had already been exposed enough, she willingly gave up and revealed herself as Dr. Tahlia. She was busy poaching Narwhals for their teeth and selling them to collectors, having revealed to have been doing it for years all on her own. She was later sent to prison, and was not heard from again.

- Tahlia is one of very few villains to willingly give up their disguises.
- It was never fully explained why the Arctic Being could fly or not, however it was revealed how the creature could to swim so sufficiently: little built-in fans in her shoes, which is where the bubbles in the water came from.
- The Arctic Creature was the very first villain from 3000 to get any sort of merchandise, with her getting an official t-shirt.
