Ares, also known as The God of War and formerly known as Adam, is the overarching antagonist of the 2022 fanfilm Psylocke 2: The Book of War.

He is the embodiment of war who seeks to bring eternal peace and prove to the one and only God that Satan is evil, even if humanity needs to be destroyed by his cause. He is also Hercules' brother.

He is portrayed by Alexander Ludwig.

History[]

Ares was once upon a time the first boy in Eden, and his name was Adam. However, when the first female human in existence Eve gave him the forbidden fruit of Eden, Adam had a vision which unfortunately burnt down Eden completely.

In order to not see Eve crying, he decided with a heavy heart to push Eve into the fire. The one God punished him since that day; he shall become a god just like him, but still he couldn't survive without war as his food to consume.

Ares also promised to hunt down his brother Hercules for defecting him, giving him out of some kindness which he still had left in him a head start which let him run off and hide inside Earth. Ares then noticed that humanity is partially corrupted by Satan, and seeing the atrocities which humans do, he decided to destroy humanity and defeat their peace bringer which was Psylocke, and prove to God how evil Satan is.

Ares then came during the night into a bar in which Psylocke and Victor were at. Outside the bar, he killed Arnold Westerson, who was one of The Leader's top henchmen.

Ares then killed off Victor, as he confronted Psylocke, revealing her his motives and his tragic, awful backstory. He told her that humanity is evil and atrocious, and that he plans on killing her and all humans so that the last war between humans would destroy them all and therefore lead to eternal peace.

Psylocke tries to kill Ares with a sword, but she fails cause he uses his power to move the sword out of her hand. She promises however to put an end to Ares' warmongering during the following day.

As Deadpool and The Leader try to hunt down Psylocke, almost getting into a rough battle between them, Ares appears from nowhere and tells them that now, the way to achieve their goals is to follow Psylocke's footsteps and find the book of war before she does. Deadpool rushes first to find the book, followed by The Leader, his crew and his hounds.

When Psylocke, Emma Frost and Hercules reach the cave of miracles, Ares appears and reveals his motives. He calls Psylocke to challange him, and remarks that if she proves him otherwise he shall leave the humans alone. They fight, and he loses, as the injured Ares angrily asks Psylocke to strike him down with her anger and end him like she promised.

However, Psylocke would give him a chance out of pure kindness and mercy, remarking that everyone gets to live his life. Ares sees through this, and realizing that humanity isn't as corrupted or evil as he thought it was, he leaves with respect towards her and hopes that humanity shall not do more heavy atrocities, which will cause him to come back again.

Trivia[]

  • He is the first live action version of Ares from Marvel.
  • This version of Ares, despite his honorable traits, is still far darker than his counterpart from the comics.
