Arthur Dracarys is the main protagonist of ABM4 Studio's LEGO Dragon Warrior series. He is the older twin brother of Sarah Dracarys. He is known as the Dragon Warrior and is the holder of the Golden Dragon, one part of the Dragon Founder.

Despite being the main protagonist, he becomes more of an anti-heroic protagonist [especially in Season 3] as his more unstable personality is shown and because he commits terrible acts in the name of peace, freedom, revenge and to protect his loved ones.

Personality[]

Arthur Dracarys is a very complex character. Arthur is a kind and caring individual. However, despite being a caring individual is he is shown to be quite emotionally unstable. Later, he becomes a cruel, ruthless, manipulative and a bit egotistical individual.

Arthur at the beginning was a kind person. He was quite naïve and wanted to bring peace. He did believe that demons may have a reason why they are attacking humanity (which is true). He wanted to be a hero that people could look up to, because of his poor background. It's funny in some way, as Arthur is the oldest of the two, yet Sarah was the one acting like the oldest sibling.

There are many times where Arthur's personality changed due to his father's brutal training. He appears to have violent tendencies as was seen in Episode 19, where is revealed that Sarah was kidnapped and Arthur killed the kidnapper. After, his father's death, Arthur became more of a hothead and violent. Arthur killing the kidnapper is also shocking, because he appears to be 10 years old.

However, he completely changed when his mother was killed by Mortem. Instead of wanting peace between humans and demons and wanting to be a hero, he wants to wipe the demon race from the face of the earth. What makes it worse, is that his sister was cursed to become a demon.

As Season 1 progresses, Arthur is very caring and desires to protect his comrades. However, after seeing Mark’s death, he starts to believe that he is extremely weak. After finding out that his sister is a demon [who is struggling with her humanity], and that he is the Dragon Warrior, he starts to have faith in himself.

In the end of Season 1, Arthur gets tortured by William and learns of humanity’s endless conflicts and the two types of demons (pure demons and hybrid demons). A mysterious voice manipulates him into accepting his darkness within, which he does. Arthur also remembers Thierry’s words and believes that the only way to change is to sacrifice his humanity and become a monster.

He developed a cold-hearted, ruthless, sadistic and overall a mentally unstable personality. He starts to have an obsession with snakes and believes he's the ultimate predator. This mentally unstable personality is seen in his battle with Raven in Season 2.

However in Season 3, he returned with sanity, however, he is shown to be ruthless, cruel, sadistic, bloodlust, manipulative and still unstable. His unstable personality is seen again when he was tortured by the Royal government again, where he almost forgot who he was.

Evil Ranking[]

Villain deeds[]

  • He killed a man who kidnapped Sarah. Although the man deserved it, it clearly shows Arthur’s murderous tendencies.
    • There is no evidence if Arthur had any remorse, but by judging of his earlier reactions when his sister and friends are tortured or harmed, he expresses no hesitation to try and kill these people who tried to harmed them. This clearly shows he has no remorse on for the kidnapper. All of this, also proves that Arthur's unstable personality appeared way before his teenage years.
  • He accepts to sacrifice his humanity for the sake of saving humanity and to get revenge on Mortem and save the people (which is Mary, Joseph, John, George and his sister, Sarah) he cares about.
  • Arthur sadistically mocked Commander William. And allowed his demon sister to devour his soul.
    • Indirectly, it causes Sarah to fall more into darkness, which was a consequence of his action of allowing her to consume a human soul.
  • When turning into a dragon for the first time, he went out of control and showed intense bloodlust and sadism when he fought Raven, threatening to eat her whole.
  • After realising that Azan was a demon, he threatened Azan to die in a painful way for his betrayal and deception with a sadistic smile.
  • Arthur leaves his friends and sister to find answers, where he has a vision of the Elros family offering human sacrifices to Mortem. He then created the Sons of the Dragon, an Elemental fascist terrorist organisation.
  • During the one year time skip, he and his group have committed terrorist acts, which caused a civil war.
    • Although, to be fair, the Elros family needs to go.
  • He also caused terrorist attacks that left the Kingdom destabilised, which benefited Arthur’s archenemy, Mortem.
  • He attacks the prison and science lab to save Elementals. He brutally kills the royal guards. Even killing one who is unarmed.
  • He tortures the scientist, however, to be fair Arthur discovers what the Royal Family was planning to do with himself and Sarah and tortures the scientist.
  • He joins the Battle of the Land of Elders, where he displays his ruthless personality.
  • He is shown to be sadistic when killing royal soldiers and this is seen when he tried to kill his older half-brother
  • When being tortured by Henry, he reveals his dark fantasies and expresses sadism. He also shows his ego, as he believes he is the only one who can save humanity.
  • Arthur unleashed his full power out of rage and sadistically ate James Ross.
  • He burnt a lot of Crown’s Peak, killing hundreds.
  • He stabbed his older half-brother without a second thought and hints of sadism were there.
    • However, Arthur later regretted his decision as it was shown he was shedding a tear once he found out the truth that Henry did all his actions to protect him and make him stronger.
  • When at the Dragon Throne, he orders Thierry to destroy all enemies to the “New Dracarys Empire '', which made him indirectly responsible for the Sons of the Dragon killing prisoners of war. This is his first order as the new king of the Second Dracarys Empire.
  • When in the dragon temple, Arthur had no remorse about the sacking of the capital and even stated that sacrifices need to be made to ensure a bright future.
    • This shocked Sarah.
  • Organised an indirect coup that leads him to become the leader of the Elemental Guardians and formed the Second Dracarys Empire and proclaims himself as the Dragon King.

Why doesn't he stand out?[]

  • Like many villains of the series, Arthur never chose to be evil, but became evil from his environment, the loss of people close to him and the fear of losing the last member of his family and his best friends
  • He is an extremely tragic character:
    • His father abused him heavily.
    • The Royal Family killed his father and Mortem killed his mother and turned his younger sister into a demon.
    • He lost Mark, who was a close friend.
    • He was tortured for hours straight, where he had to watch a mother and a child be murdered right in front of him.
    • He lost George, his father-figure from Wrath.
    • He was psychologically and emotionally tortured for 10 days by Prince Peter.
    • During the Eclipse, he managed to break the ceremony, but Mortem partly succeeded in possessing Sarah. This was probably the true turning point, along with the visions and the truth of the Elros deal with Mortem in the Dragon Temple, which will likely have a massive impact on Arthur and maybe make him turn towards an even darker path.
  • He tries to save his mother from Mortem. And he breaks down when seeing his mother being killed by the King of Demons.
  • He generally cared for his little twin sister, Sarah and truly desires to protect her.  He even protected her, who is now the very thing he hates, a demon from Eric and later the military police. In fact, his whole reason for fighting and becoming the monster he later becomes is to provide her a good life.
  • He deeply cares about his friends.
  • Although he never admits it, he does seem to have romantic feelings for Mary.

Trivia[]

  • Arthur Dracarys has been called Arthur Yeager due to him saying "I will not stop until I kill every single demon, every last one of them!". He is seen has very similar to Eren Yeager form Attack on Titan, both seek revenge for their lost loved ones, they both spend their childhoods trapped within a wall (which protects them form a dangerous threat - for Eren it is the Titans, for Arthur it is the demons), they also have the power of a monster and are seen by their organisations and people as the saviours of humanity, where the rest of the world sees them as the true enemy of humanity.
  • Arthur being an anti-hero and an anti-villain protagonist was foreshadowed a lot throughout Seasons 1 and 2 alone:
    • In Episode 2, Lewis says “next time we do training, you will be the villain and I will show how it is done”. This is the first hint that Arthur will be a more villainous protagonist than the normal heroic protagonists shown in LEGO stop-motion shows.
    • In episodes 7 (Season 1 finale), 10 and 12 (Season 2 episodes 3 and 5), showed Arthur’s sadistic nature, which is not normal for a heroic protagonist to show.
