Artico is the secondary antagonist of Kirby and the Nightmare World; He is the right-hand man to the Nightmare Knight and, alongside him, plans to use the Starry Pillar's power to destroy the universe in a second and remake it all new all according to the knight's desires.
Despite his role, he only appears as a boss in Meta Knight's team side and doesn't directly fight Kirby's team, although he is present in scenes. He is replaced by the Ultimate Doomer in Kirby's team mode.
He personally rules over the Requiem Squad, which directly includes the likes of Thanatos. After Kirby and Meta Knight's teams defeat the Requiem Squad and finally arrive at the location of the knight's headquarters, he is personally ordered by the knight to deal with Meta Knight's team while the knight sends the Ultimate Doomer to fight against Kirby. He presents himself to Meta Knight, Vampus and Flamberge and engages in combat. He appears to be seemingly unstoppable at first, but thanks to the team's efforts they manage to overpower and finally defeat him, causing him to explode into nothingness.

At first, Artico is revealed to be mysterious masked man who seemingly lacks a personality, only watching the protagonists from their backs, being unknown what he wants.
However, as the story builds up, he is revealed to be a brutal, sadistic and extremely loyal to the Nightmare Knight, having similar ideas of the "surival of the fittest" as his master does, which is one of the reasons the knight highly respects him. He doesn't in anyway question the knight's orders, and doesn't hesistate when ordered to kill someone.
Besides him being ruthless, he at least admires a good fighter, as he is surprised by Meta Knight's skills during their battle and complements him on that aspect. He is also shown to be a cunning leader, as he successfully leads the Requiem Squad without being questioned, and has managed to conquer worlds for the Nightmare Knight.
In battle, his true brutality shows up, as he strikes extremely fast and violent attacks upon his foes. To make things worse, he decides to personally play with his foes, striking them psychologically by taunting them, and how they will die at his hands.
Artico is also arrogant, stating that he and the knight are the new rulers of the world with an unmatched rule, and also states that no one has escaped from him. He can also become angrier in combat when he is at a disavantage.
Design[]
Artico is a masked horned humanoid creature who wears mask without any holes or visors with 4 spots on each side and a cyan armor, with purple spiked shoulder armors. It is unknown how he sees through his mask without any hole, but thanks to his statement of high senses, it's more likely he uses his senses more in combat.

Artico is a highly powerful, intelligent and ruthless leader. He was personally selected by the Nightmare Knight due to his sheer power and mastery over weapons, and also thanks to his cunning intellect as a general. He is also the user of the following skills:
- Shadow manipulation: Artico's main power is related to the manipulation of shadows, with his attacks not being capable of being interacted with due to their nature as shadows. He uses it in various ways:
- Dark Spikes: Launches homing spikes made out of pure shadows which violently lash out against the enemy.
- Shadow Wave: Releases a big wave of pure darkness which crashes against the walls and sends shadow spikes everywhere once hit with something.
- Teleportation: Artico can teleport between shadows to his advantage.
- Blasting Shot: Hides beneath the enemy and comes out to strike them with his spear. This is similar to Marx's shadow attack in Kirby Super Star.
- Martial Arts: As a trained right-hand, Artico is extremely skilled in close ranged combat, often utilizing attacks which directly target the enemy's weakspots such as skulls or the stomach. He is also capable of fighting with his bare hands against Meta Knight's swordsman skills.
- Stealth: Artico is good at this, as he can manage to hide in his shadows to deal a sneak attack into his enemies.
- Regeneration: He is shown to be capable of summoning healing orbs, although these can be destroyed.
- Ice manipulation: Artico is also a skilled combatant of this type of magic:
- Blizzard Shards: Summons a blue tornado which fires out ice shards which breaks into two pieces which go into Far away distances to harm enemies. These can freeze on contact.
- Arctic Shot: Fires out an lightning-shaped ice attack which creates a huge explosion
- Destroyer Cold: Summons two ice huge Spikes which he kicks at the walls, which stuck on them. They then start to fire energy blasts before breaking apart after 3 of them.
- Spear Mastery: Artico is skilled at spear fighting, having skill of his "Degra", his personally named spear. He can use it to deflect attacks and strike attacks with high damage
- Energy Attacks: Artico is capable of releasing energy shots to strike his foes with decent enough of damage. These include:
- Homing attacks: Fires energy attacks which home in into the target
- Sun Light: Summons a sun-shaped energy blasts which fire projectiles clockwise before exploding into four energy beams.
- Forcefield: Creates an energy forcefield with spikes all over it which he uses as a way to bounce himself across the battlefield.
- Omega Laser: Fires a massive energy blast. This attack is so powerful that it can one hit KO the player. However, it costs alot of energy and leaves him momentarily tired to the point of not moving.
- High durability: Artico possesses great durability, as he can tank multiple attacks from Meta Knight's team all at once and still keep on fighting.
- Sharp claws: He is shown to have sharp claws and spikes over his fingers. He is shown to slash Meta Knight's mask with his claws, leaving some damage on it.

- Artico means "arctic" in Portuguese, this is a reference to not only his ice powers but also his ruthless personality and sheer brutality in battle, alongside his ice-themed color scheme
