King Asgore Dreemurr is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside the Blue Soul Human) of the UNDERTALE fan-made prequel Undertale Yellow.
He is the supreme ruler of monsterkind that, after declaring war on humanity, plans on killing seven humans and use their SOULs to break the barrier that traps everyone Underground. Despite not appearing much throughout the story, he acts as a looming presence through Clover's journey and is the main reason why he decided to go to the Underground in the first place. He is Clover's arch-nemesis and a non-canonical version of the original Asgore.
Personality[]
While in the original Undertale Asgore is shown as an empathic monarch who regrets his actions and even holds himself back when fighting Frisk, in Undertale Yellow Asgore is shown to be much more determined to accomplish his goal.
The game presents an Asgore who, while still a nice guy, is overall much more ruthless towards his mission of getting the human souls, he has a very grim outlook towards the situation the monsters find themselves in and doesn't hold back when fighting Clover.
Despite giving many chances to Chujin to show his Axis prototypes, his patience would reach its end when the eighth version malfunctioned and set his flower bed on fire. He showed a much colder side when, not only he defunded Chujin's research, but also relieved him of his duties altogether.
The reason why Asgore is much more ruthless may be that he was still too tormented by the past and it didn't fully hit him that he didn't actually want to wage war on humanity, it was only after acquiring the second-to-last soul that he realized how awful of a situation he found himself in and decided to hold back against in his fight against Frisk.
Biography[]
Background[]
Asgore's backstory is the same as in the original Undertale, after losing both of his children on the same day and declaring war on humanity in a fit of rage, he patiently waited in his throneroom until all the necessary humans came to him so he could kill them and get their souls. During this time, one of his scientists, Chujin, presented various experiments to him. Even though they all backfired in some shape or form, Asgore would merely let him off with a warning. However, the final nail in the coffin was when Chujin pitched his newly created Axis robot to him, only for the robot to suffer a malfunction that set his flowers ablaze, resulting in a silently furious Asgore firing him and, simply requesting to not see him again.
