Ash Ketchum is the main protagonist of the "What REALLY Happens in Pokémon" series by Gumbino. This version of Ash was created to highlight the flaws of the original character, such as his overreliance on the power of friendship, neglecting to train his Pokémon, and abandoning them once they reach their full potential. These traits have led characters like Gold, Brendan and Red to despise him in the "If Pokémon Trainers Were in" series. In Gumbino's series, Ash takes a darker path, committing various villainous acts, including abusing his Pokémon to achieve his goals.

Personality[]

Unlike the canonical Ash Ketchum, this version is depicted as completely naive, believing anything a stranger says, even if it makes no sense. He often fails to pay attention and uses the wrong Pokémon for situations. He despises losing and cannot admit defeat, often claiming it was part of his plan or accusing the opposing trainer of cheating.

He also exhibits humor, such as pretending to win and threatening to release all of Brock's Pokémon, accepting sarcasm as fact, and insulting someone for suggesting a better solution.

Unlike the original, this Ash lacks empathy for his Pokémon (including his own Pikachu) and focuses solely on capturing them. However, when one of them is in danger, he attempts to save them, albeit in a foolish manner.

History[]

Start[]

At 10 years old, Ash decides to become a Pokémon Trainer and leaves home, leading the police to consider arresting his mother for truancy. Gary, aware of Ash's poor training skills, warns Professor Oak of his arrival. The three starter Pokémon, along with Gary and the professor, hide, hoping Ash won't find them. Ash enters the lab and, failing to find them, notices Pikachu and decides to steal him. Professor Oak tries to stop him, but Ash distracts him and escapes with Pikachu.

Ash goes to a Pokemon Center and tells nurse joy to heal his pikachu, and she obeys. Suddenly Team Rocket appears wanting to steal his pokemon and ash explains that they will have to wait for him to be healed. James, jessie and Meowth wait for 2 minutes before they get too impatient and go away. Pikachu then appears and tells Ash to give him back to Professor' oak, which ash says he will do, but doesn't.

Veridian Forest Arc[]

Ash Ketchum goes to the Veridian Forest while lying he is going to retrieve pikachu to the laboratory. He finds a caterpie, which tries to desperately go back to his family, but gets caught by a pokeball. While they are traveling through the forest, Ash sees misty, which explains she will follow him until he pays her a new bike, even through this version of ash never stole her bike.

During night time, Ash goes to sleep, and once it is day, Team Rocket appears, but instead of stealing his pikachu, which was sleeping with ash, they wake up him instead and say their introduction. Ash tells caterpie to use Dragon Rage, but pikachu tells him to use string shot, which caterpie does, leaving team rocket stuck. The Caterpie then evolves to a metapod.

Suddenly a random pidgeotto appears asking for directions, Ash and Pikachu start violently kicking him until he is weak, ash throws a pokeball and catches him. Ash sees a weedle spying and decides to catch it, the weedle runs away and ash runs trying to catch it. While running, he finds a samurai bug catcher, which states he will only let him go if he battles him.

The Samurai sends metapod, and since ash's pidgeotto is injured, ash is forced to use metapod. They keep using harden until a beedrill suddenly steals the metapod from ash. Ash tries to follow the beedrill, but gets followed by hundreds of beedrills instead, along with misty and samurai. The three go to samurai's house and stay there for 1 day until the beedrills finally go away. Ash Ketchum goes to save metapod, finds him in a tree along with other kakunas and steals it, causing all the kakunas to evolve and follow him. Ash Ketchum gets past Team Rocket, which becomes the focus of all beedrills, except one, which keeps following ash. Ash then throws his metapod at the beedrill, killing her and making metapod evolve to a butterfree. Butterfree realises he has wings and tries to run away from ash, but ash puts him back in the pokeball. The Samurai tries to become part of Ash's gang, but Ash and the others run away form him while he is distracted.

Brock Gym Arc[]

Ash Ketchum tries to heal his pikachu at the pokecenter, while not knowing pikachu is actually trying to call the police. Ash Ketchum then questions how Nurse Joy can be in several pokecenters at the same time, that causes all hidden nurse joys to run away from the pokecenter.

Brock's Dad then appears, Ash tells everyone that he is his long lost father according to Internte theories, but the guy debunks that and tells ash that he should challenge the gym leader brock. Ash Ketchum goes to challenge brock, which uses onyx, but ash still decides to use Pikachu. Ash tells it to use thundershock and aim for the legs, but that gives no effect to onyx, due to him being a ground type. Onyx then defeats pikachu with a single tackle.

Ash leaves the gym victoryless, while not admitting he lost, but Brock's dad tells him that he can win if he aims for the onyx horn. Pikachu doesn't believe it, but ash does and decides to challenge brock a second time. He sends pikachu and tells him to aim for the horn, pikachu obeys, uses his thundershock on the onyx horn and defeats him. When brock is gonna give him his badge, ash states he doesn't want a badge, he wants him to quit his job. Brock's dad appears and tells brock that he also wants him to quit his job which is why he told ash onyx's weakness. Brock obeys and abandons his job to go in their adventure.

Clefairies Cave Arc[]

While traveling to mt. moon with brock, misty and pikachu, they find a cientist being attacked by zubats, which state he was terrorizing their home and they He is the bad guy. Ash ignores and tells pikachu to use thunderbolt, but Pikachu refuses. One Zubat states they are weird and they all go back to the cave. The cientist lies that the zubats were just haters and reveals himself to be seymour.

Seymour lies that a a Moon Stone fell in the cave and that his radiation is killing the clefairies, and also asks for their help to remove the Moon Stone from the cave, which is, in reality, just a pillar holding the cave so it doesn't fall apart. Brock tries to use logic and explains that if a moon stone truly fell on earth, everything would go extinct, but ash and misty don't listen to him and decide to help the cientist.

While they are walking through the cave, seymour sees torches and states that they are bad for the pokemon. Ash recommends to remove them, but seymour calls him stupid and states they need to torches to see. Misty asks why the pokemon would attack the cave, and seymour lies that they want to steal the moon stone.

Brock sees a clefairy, which starts running, and seymour tells them to follow him, since he is gonna lead them to the "Moon Stone". They find a ladder, but before they can climb, Team Rocket appears and states they need to Moon Stone. Pikachu gives them a random stone he found in the ground and Team Rocket actually thinks it is the moon stone. They go away and Ash aks pikachu why he gave them the moon stone, once again showing his stupidness.

After they climb the ladder, they see a bunch of clefairies. Clefable tries to explain to Ash that the Moon Stone is actually a sacred pillar that supports the entire cave, but Seymour lies that the Moon Sone is affecting their brain. Ash Ketchum listens to seymour and decides to destroy the stone. Ash uses his butterfree and tells it to use string shot in the stone. Butterfree destroys the stone with string shot, and that causes the entire cave to fall apart, supposedly killing every pokemon inside, except for the Clefable.

Ash Ketchum, ignorant of the situation, still thinks he saved the clefairies, and invites Seymour to be part of their team, leaving samurai bug catcher angry. Seymour refuses and states he will go in other adventures, Ash accepts and goes away along with Misty and Brock.
