Asha is a character from the "Disney Princesses but they're Villains" series of songs by British musical artist Lydia the Bard. She is a villainous adaptation of the character from the 2023 animated Disney film Wish, serving as the main protagonist of her song and animatic.
She was voiced by Lydia the Bard.
Biography[]
Asha's villain story begins similarly to how it did in the original Disney version: born in the kingdom of Rosas, Asha lived with her mother and grandfather. The kingdom's ruler, King Magnifico, would keep his people in line by offering to grant their wishes. Asha hopes that the wishes of her family may one day be among those to be granted their wish.
As a seventeen-year-old, Asha was offered the chance to become King Magnifico's assistant. She accepted, but found out a dark truth: Magnifico would only grant the wishes that were beneficial to himself or the kingdom. any other wishes he viewed as dangerous and sealed away. Horrified by this, Asha argues with the King, who rejects Asha as an apprentice. Asha tries to tell her family about Magnifico's true nature, but they don't believe her. Asha wishes on a star that justice may be served, and the Star itself comes down to aid her. With the help of Star, Asha manages to retrieve her grandfather's wish to show her family.
However, Magnifico follows her home and destroys her mother's wish in front of her, making her lose a piece of her soul and fall into despair. Asha is heartbroken and filled with anger. She swears revenge on Magnifico and abandons her allies to sneak in and steal his magic spellbook. She uses it to restrain Magnifico and steal his wish, which is for a peaceful life after seeing his old kingdom razed. Despite viewing his tragic past, Asha shows no mercy and smashes his wish, destroying a piece of Magnifico's soul and leaving him feeling hollow. Asha leaves, but with the powers of the dark spellbook to use as she pleases.
Personality[]
Asha has a strong sense of justice, and believes that everyone should be free to pursue their dreams. She is fiercely loyal to and protective of her family, and is willing to go to any extreme to protect or avenge them. Her sense of justice leads her to enacting it as a vigilante, as well as allowing herself to tap into dark and forbidden magic to achieve revenge.
