Axem Rangers X are major antagonists of the popular 2006 flash animation series, Super Mario Bros. Z, originally created by Mark Haynes/Alvin Earthworm, based on the Mario video game series, Sonic series, and Dragon Ball Z.
They are the elite team of five skilled battle robots created by their hegemonic master, Smithy, and their main purpose is making him more powerful to conquer the universe easily.
Biography[]
Past[]
Axem Rangers were small battle robots aiding Smithy to defeat Mario and his group. Mario managed to destroy all of them and weaken Smithy. However, Smithy revived the Rangers and upgraded them as more powerful robots.
Original Series[]
In order to restore his power, Smithy tasked the Ranger to patrol around the Mushroom Kingdom and find a power source. While they're searching for power, in the Yoshi's Island, they discovered Chaos Emeralds under the Yoshi Tribe's possession, which they call "Amethyst of Might". For looking the emerald closer, they disguised themselves as Yoshis and tricked the tribe, later invaded the island, captured all of the Yoshis and enslaved them to dig around the island for finding more emeralds.
Not long afterward, Mario and his new companions, Luigi, Sonic, Shadow, and Yoshi arrived on the island, finding the few free Yoshis and releasing the enslaved dinosaurs. The heroes soon tried taking the Emerald that the Axem Rangers stole, when the Koopa Bros. arrived. The Koopa Bros. had already stolen one Chaos Emerald and the Emerald Radar from the heroes, and nearly added the Rangers' Emerald to their inventory until the Axem Rangers returned. The Rangers stole back the Emerald from the Koopa Bros, and a battle between the three teams soon broke out.
During their battle, Axem Yellow destroyed the half of the mountain in order to defeat Sonic, but couldn't do that. When the group realized that the Team Mario will surpass them, Axem Red headed back to their warship, Blade, and empowered it with the purple emerald and fired the Breaker Beam in order to kill Mario. He destroyed the half of the island but couldn't kill Mario. Red shocked to the emerald's power and tells that Smithy can conquer the universe with that power easily. Shortly later, he charged a second fire in order to kill the Team Mario, but his attack is countered by Turbo Mecha Sonic and the Blade is destroyed.
Having survived the Blade's destruction, Red assembled his team and commanded Yellow to destroy Mecha Sonic. Yellow was more than happy to oblige and charged at Mecha Sonic, striking the Turbo with his axe, only to be shocked that his axe had broken in two. Mecha Sonic then entered his Semi-Super form and quickly destroyed the four of the Axems, one by one. Red expressed shock and said the Turbo 'monster' for his monstrously massacre to Red's partners. In order to kill Turbo, Red took his cannon and fired at Turbo, but couldn't manage to harm him. He is counter-attacked by Turbo with a Raging Demon and and destroyed with the energy blast.
If the series are not cancelled, they would make a returning appearance, the Smithy Saga would begin. Smithy would have returned, bringing the Axem Rangers X back to life while creating a new member of the group, Axem Blue. Axem Blue would have been constructed with Metallix's remains after his defeat.
Reboot Series[]
Axem Rangers will appear in the Metallix Saga. Mark has confirmed that the Axem Rangers will be getting new designs in the reboot, stating the old designs are no longer special because of how many other animators have used them. It is also unknown if they will keep the "X" name.
Membership[]
Axem Red[]
Red is the leader of the team, and seems to be rather cocky and confident. He doesn't like it when his team is less than helpful, but he does order them to do things with high confidence. He makes snappy remarks at both his enemies and his team, showing a likelihood of being hot-headed and/or impatient.
Axem Black[]
Black is "the cool one", or at least sees himself as the coolest. He wears shades and doesn't go anywhere without them. He seems to be the "macho-man" as well, recalling he owes Mario a knuckle sandwich and called Red a "crazy fool" when he nearly blasted them with the Breaker Beam. Black is mild-tempered and doesn't anger easily, acting more like a level-headed and dirty-fighting bully.
Axem Green[]
Green is the brains of the team, although he's not much of a fighter, so he stays quiet most of the time. He gets pretty annoyed most of the time by the stupidity of the team, such as when Yellow craved McGoombas in the middle of battle.
Axem Yellow[]
Yellow is the typical clutz and the comic relief of the team, also serving as the brawn. He is a glutton for food and easily side-tracked by it (the word sandwich making him feel like eating McGoombas). He was shown happily taking an order from Red to destroy Mecha Sonic, showing his love of battle, but screamed in fear soon after learning just how powerful Mecha Sonic is.
Axem Pink[]
Pink is the only girl in the team. She, like a stereotypical teenage girl, is into the latest fashions and styles and always wants to look the best. Although she's far from being the strongest member of the team, she still seems to serve as a valuable asset to her team.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Warship possession: The Axems possess a massive battleship named Blade, which has destructive attacks. Its only shown and possibly most prominent attack is the Breaker Beam, which is more destructive with the Chaos Emerald, even capable to destroy the mountains of the island with single fire.
- Skilled axemanship: All of the Axems' primary weapons are giant axes having same colors as them. While they can use them individually, they also combine their axes to making powerful attacks, for example: Black and Green have the ability to conjoin together to form an axe wheel, which is very effective: when they chased Sonic, they managed to slice a boulder in half.
- Enhanced physics: Axems possess incredibly combat skills, strength and speed. They're equal to the Team Mario and Koopa Bros.
- Teleportation: Axems are capable of teleporting to long distances easily.
- Shapeshifting: Axems are capable of change their appearance. They disguised themselves as Yoshis and they did not get an attention from the tribe.
- Flight: During their battle, Axems are shown while flying and battling on the sky.
Trivia[]
- It is likely that the Axem Rangers X are based on Dragon Ball Z's Ginyu Force, with Red being Ginyu (minus the ability to switch bodies), Black being Jeice, Green being Burter, Yellow being Recoome, and Pink being Guldo (with a gender swap, and minus the ability to stop time)
