| ~ Ayato Aishi's famous quote, planning to have Taeko Yamada all for himself and will resort to bad things for that to happen. |
Ayato Aishi, a.k.a. Yandere-Kun, is the titular main protagonist and narrator of the 2020 horror-romance show Yandere-Kun, a genderbend remake of the famous stealth action video game Yandere Simulator.
Just like Ayano Aishi, he is a 2nd year student at Akademi High that born with a curse where he can't feel emotions until he ends up meeting Taeko Yamada and falls in love with her but becomes jealous of any boy in the way and is still willing to resort to sabotage or even murder just to have her all to himself, refusing to give her a choice.
He is played by Asa Butterfield, who also played Dark Web (2020).
Early Life[]
According to Ayato, he was born with the usual Aishi curse, being emotionless from birth and only remembering hospitals and doctors confirming that he was considered "broken."
His mother Jokiko Rudaishi hated that and even looked down on him for being born like this but his father Ryoma Aishi accepted him for this and even admitted to being the same as him, which he would advise him that he'll only feel something when meeting someone special and even secretly teaching him how to get rid of blood at some point during the childhood.
However, Jokiko didn't like that and wanted him to be a normal child but despite her attempts, nothing worked and she began to see him as a monster to the point of fearing him or even resenting him.
Feeling pity for her, Ayato pretended to be a normal child but deep down, she knew that he was faking it and yet thought he was trying to let her guard down.
As he grew older, he saw other kids become happy, sad, and angry but eventually, they also disliked his real self and bullied him because of it but he wasn't bothered by it and even called it "inconvenient."
Deciding to try and fit in, he went back to pretending to be a normal child and the bullying stopped, even making friends with others and pretending to care about someone's problem.
However, he still felt nothing from this and when coming across a cat at one point, he killed it to test himself for any remorse but ended up having none at all and even finding out that he had no problem hurting others without a care in the world.
When becoming a teenager, his father's advice was still the same that he'll only feel something when he finds someone special, which he just decided to continue listening to that advice.
At first, there was nothing interesting going during his first time at Akademi High but in his 2nd year, he runs into Taeko Yamada and her act of kindness towards him caused him to feel something: A new emotion.
Realizing that it's love, he also realized that he was in love with her and wanted to be with her but when he noticed her always interacting with Osano Najimi, he felt another emotion: Jealousy.
Upon this realization, he also realized that he felt a desire to have her for himself and refused to share her with anyone else, even planning to sabotage any rivals in the way or even resort to murder to get his way.
While slightly aware of how dangerous such a mindset is, he slowly embraced it and declared that she'll soon be his but she didn't have a choice, starting to become a Yandere and planning to take her via any means whatsoever.
Episode 1: Osano Najimi[]
The episode starts with him heading to Akademi with the rest of the students but is getting annoyed by Osano lecturing Taeko for oversleeping and "keeping him waiting," which Ayato introduces Osano as Taeko's childhood friend but considers him to be a Tsundere who hides his so-called feelings via being rude to her and even lecturing her.
Other than that, he's also spending some time via pretending to be group conversations but then gets called by an unknown hacker known as Info-Kun, who even Ayato dislikes for being a creepy hacker but then hears that the hacker wants to help him out with getting rid of Osano.
Despite still disliking him, Ayato reluctantly accepts the help and they both decide to get Osano rejected and later expelled, which even Ayato find this to be brutal but still agrees to it.
Throughout the 1st episode, he uses various methods such as framing Osano for breaking school rules and even ruining his chances of winning Taeko's heart until the 5th day, which Osano is finally expelled for the rule breaking and is also rejected by Taeko out of belief that Osano is way too awful to date.
However, Osano starts to suspect Ayato after seeing him smirk and this eventually leads to a confrontation between the 2 until Ayato angrily stabs him to death for being too pushy.
At first, Ayato was shocked by this 1st kill and didn't know what to do about it but then slowly turns insane and even starts to evily laugh at what he had done until his insanity goes away and he already starts to clean up via burying the body in the Gardening Club, discarding the knife and clothes, and washing the blood off.
After doing that, he then leaves the school and checks on Taeko first before finally going home and being satisfied by his success but then sees a note from his father about the basement and goes down to find it being more of a place to store any captives, which he is impressed by and does plan to use it for his work.
The next day, he spends time in his room via admiring the shrine he made about Taeko and being glad that Osano's gone but then gets a call from Info-Kun about a new potential rival named Amao Odayaka, who happens to be the true leader of the Cooking Club and is returning from an unknown trip.
Frowning at this in jealousy, he decides to talk with Info about this and wants to know more about his new rival, ending the 1st episode on a cliffhanger for the 2nd one.
Chapter 2: Amao Odayaka[]
On the 2nd week, he hears that they found Osano's buried corpse in the Gardening Club and despite this, the club was not accused of the murder due to a member reporting it to the police.
More coming soon.
Personality[]
At first glance, Ayato Aishi seems like a misunderstood loner that just usually stays silent and only utters small or soft words when talking with someone, even showing a stoic expression all the time but only smiling around Taeko Yamada.
However, he still shares the Aishi trait of turning out to be a jealous, manipulative, and psychopathic stalker that is obsessed with Taeko and will do anything to have her, even resorting to sabotage or even murder.
Despite this, he's not fully evil as he has some morales and standards such as not only being genuinely annoyed by rude and arrogant people but also being genuinely disgusted and appalled by Mido Rana for being a pedophilic rapist and by Info-Kun for being a manipulative hacker, showing that he might be a murderous stalker but at least looks down on rape as "truly evil" and also understanding how bad bullying can be due to being a victim of it as well.
Even more, he also genuinely loves his parents and doesn't blame his mother for fearing him, only showing pity for her and agreeing that he might be a monster.
Other than that, he also is capable of remorse via genuinely crying at Hanaka Yamada's tragic death and even hugging a crying Taeko in comfort over it while also honoring a deal with Kencha Saikou and helping her gain the family company.
Appearance[]
Just like known art about him, he is a 17-year-old boy wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and dress shoes as his school uniform but is never shown wearing the school jacket, although the school never complains about that.
As for other outfits, he can usually wear the gym uniform whenever his school clothes need to be disposed of or even wearing blue shorts for pool times.
Trivia[]
- Hilariously, this version of him is inspired by Luke Lerner from Better Watch Out, acting like an innocent young boy at first but then being revealed to be a psychotic stalker obsessed with the female protagonist and yet the difference is that Ayato is slightly likable and has a somewhat excuse such as having been merely born without any emotions while Luke is a Hate Sink that doesn't get a motive shown for why he commits his crimes and lacks any care for even loved ones.
- Despite seeing himself as a monster, his possibly remorse and standards imply that he secretly still has a heart and is capable of caring for others, even implied to have also tortured Musuko Ronshaku out of somewhat revenge and punishment for all the bullying that guy committed.
- Heck, even the creators implied that it was genuinely out of desire to punish the bully.
