Azathoth is one of the 2 secondary antagonists (alongside the Dragon of Sins and Demiv) of Flowers in Antarctica.
They are the embodiment of discord, chaos, disorder, and change, being an accomplice of the One Behind the Wall and the ruler of the Khaorrim.
Personality[]
Azathoth is a paradox of intelligence and mindlessness. On one hand, he is dim-witted, his consciousness clouded in a dreamlike stupor, unaware of his own immense power and the consequences of his actions. He drifts aimlessly, governed by instinct and primal impulses, with little understanding of the worlds that depend on his existence. Yet, beneath this seemingly dull exterior lies an unfathomable intelligence—an ancient, cosmic awareness that, when stirred, can glimpse truths and ideas beyond mortal comprehension. Azathoth's intelligence is so vast that it is incomprehensible even to himself, manifesting in fleeting moments of cosmic insight before being lost in his endless, chaotic dreams.
History[]
The Beginning of Creation[]
While the other Embodiments were still forming, Azathoth emerged soon after. Upon witnessing the One Behind the Wall attacking the other Embodiments, Azathoth chose to join the assault, aiding him in the brutal slaughter. The One Behind the Wall, however, paid little mind to Azathoth’s assistance, remaining entirely focused on his plan to eradicate all other Embodiments. The battle only came to an end when “The,” the ruler, creator, and Embodiment of the VOID, intervened and commanded all Embodiments to cease their fighting. With the conflict ended, the Embodiments turned their efforts toward creation. Ylianos, the Embodiment of Light, Creation, and Good, forged the Omniverse, while the One Behind the Wall created Hell as its dark counterpart. Azathoth, in turn, gave shape to the Khaorrim.
In Eternal Slumber[]
Once the Khaorrim had been created, Azathoth descended into a deep and endless slumber, becoming the very core of the Khaorrim itself. While he slept, he dreamed countless beings into existence, entities later known as the Outer Gods and the Great Old Ones. These beings would rise to power and take control over the Khaorrim, forming a crude and chaotic form of government, though they continued to recognize Azathoth as their true ruler, even as he remained dormant.
Present[]
To this day, Azathoth remains in his eternal slumber, though it is foretold that he will awaken during the end times to aid the One Behind the Wall in completing his ultimate goal.
Trivia[]
- Azathoth is the only Flowers in Antarctica character that isn’t an original character.
- Instead of being truly omnipotent and metapotent, he is a very powerful being, but not the most powerful.
- That honor belongs to “The”, ruler/creator/embodiment of the VOID.
- This iteration of Azathoth is based off of the theory that Azathoth is the pawn of a much more horrible and powerful creature, which in this case, is the One Behind the Wall.
