Baby Mario, or simply Mario, known as Mario.EXE or Baby Mario.EXE, is the main antagonist of the Mario horror game Yoshi.EXE.

He is the baby version of Mario who is not encountered until the final level of the game, the World 1 Castle. However, prior to encountering him, Yoshi discovers the massacre Mario has spread around the island, killing Kamek and common enemies like Koopas, as he is attracted more and more towards him due to his crying. Eventually, Yoshi encounters him in the castle, where he is jumpscared and murdered by the latter.

Appearance[]

Baby Mario has the same appearance as he does in the original Yoshi's Island game, but his eyes are black and bleeding, as well as red pupils, similar to Sonic.EXE. He also appears to be covered in blood and his mouth has no visible teeth during his jumpscare. He also has no nose.

Biography[]

In the introduction of the game, it is shown that Baby Mario has fallen into the deep blue ocean after a stork lost him. The Yoshis, not discussing for too long about what happened, decide to follow the crying coming from the baby, but little did they know is that they would have their lives taken away one by one.

Throughout the game, during the night, Yoshi finds the dead bodies of multiple characters from the original game, like Koopas and Kamek. Later on, in the castle, Baby Mario's crying is heard again, this time repeatedly. Yoshi is not able to run in this section, so he only walks slowly towards the source of the crying inside the castle, full of blood splatters, some even spelling the words "HELP". Eventually, Baby Mario can be seen in front of Yoshi, covered in blood and standing completely still. Yoshi is then jumpscared by the demonic plumber and murdered, as the sound that plays when Baby Mario is in a bubble after getting hit by an enemy is heard in the background. Afterwards, the normal Game Over screen is shown, only to show a picture of a bloody Yoshi in the same state as Baby Mario, crashing the game with an error message.

Cloudyjolt Remake[]

In Cloudyjolt's remake of the game, it is shown that after Yoshi was attacked by Baby Mario, his dead body was hanged on a noose in the same castle where he was murdered. However, he eventually comes to life again and chases player's current Yoshi, jumpscaring him, resulting in his death and another Game Over, but this time in a red color. The player is still able to continue, but the game would just loop until the player refuses, leading to the same Yoshi jumpscare from the original version, crashing the game.

Trivia[]

  • It is heavily implied that Mario was the one who has killed Kamek and many other common enemies on the island.
  • Despite being the main antagonist, he only appears twice and has low screen-time.
  • The actual origin of this baby version of Mario.EXE is unknown but there are several options:
    • Unlike his canonical counterpart, Baby Mario died by falling into the depths of the ocean instead of directly encountering the Yoshis and somehow this caused his corruption or something in the ocean made him that way.
    • Another theory is that Baby Mario was already like this long before he lost on the island.
