Yes, together, our enemies will fall.
~ Bao-Dur to his master, Lord Scourge.
I could do without your Mandalorian honor. I saw the results of your 'honor'. Mandalorians are little better than mercenary thugs, and what's honor to someone like that? All they care about are credits. I destroyed your people!
~ Bao-Dur expressing his hatred of the Mandalorians to Gravik Spar.

Bao-Dur is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Vitiate) of DarthYcey and Smash City Studio's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic movie series.

He was an engineer who in the wake of the Jedi Civil War who sought revenge against the Mandalorians for killing his people, joining the Galactic Republic under the service of Revan during the Mandalorian Wars. After the destruction of Malachor V, Bao-Dur was devastated at what happened, having become a Wound in the Force.

Bao-Dur subsequently joined the Sith so that he can master his anger, and became an apprentice of the Sith Lord Darth Secuulas, and later, Lord Scourge, the leader of the True Sith. He went undercover in the Republic and helped the former Jedi Meetra Surik in a series of adventures. He eventually faked his death, and later returned to kill the Sith Emperor Vitiate, taking over his throne and becoming the new Emperor.

He is voiced by Roger G. Smith.

Biography[]

Early life and the Mandalorian Wars[]

Bao-Dur was an Irodian Zabrak. It is unknown if he was born on Telos IV or Irodnia. What is known is that he was raised and grew up on Telos IV. Bao-Dur was a simple man living a simple life, until the Mandalorian Wars, led by Mandalore the Ultimate, came. Bao-Dur couldn't help but watch as the Mandalorians massacred his people, such a Zabrak couple. Because of that, Bao-Dur wanted revenge, and thus he joined the Republic as a commander in the Republic military. He became a close ally to the Jedi General Revan and especially Revan's friend, Meetra Surik.

Mass Shadow Generator[]

Eventually, at the end of the Mandalorian Wars, Bao-Dur, under orders from Revan, made a Force generated energy weapon called the "Mass Shadow Generator." They implanted it at the heart of the planet Malachor V. During the Battle of Malachor V, Bao-Dur was present. He asked the Jedi general Meetra Surik if he should activates it, in which she gives a nod. Bao-Dur activates the Mass Shadow Generator, which blasted an consumed Malachor V and pulled ships and shattered many. Malachor V's Dark Side energy, hidden in the planet's core, was unleashed and made Malachor V a barren, rocky wasteland barely holding itself together, a well of Dark Side energies. Bao-Dur was affected by this event, and thus became a Wound in the Force, and retreated after the Mandalorian Wars was done.

Joining the Sith[]

Later, Bao-Dur wanted to harness his anger and power, and so the Force led him back to Malachor V after some time. Bao-Dur was standing at the entrance of the Trayus Academy, an ancient Sith academy that has been protected by the Dark Power of Malachor V. Bao-Dur entered the Academy, and found a Sith Master named Darth Secuulas training a bunch of Sith assassins at the academy. Secuulas greeted Bao-Dur and tested to see his strength by sending the assassins towards him. Bao-Dur was electrocuted by the assassins, but was able to make a Force wave that knocked them all back. The assassins charged towards Bao-Dur again, but he lifted them all up through the Force and pushed them away and snapped their necks, killing them all.

Darth Secuulas, impressed, walks towards Bao-Dur and tells him that he can sense his pain, that he is a Wound in the Force. However, Secuulas noted to Bao-Dur that there is a far greater power than what he hears, saying that it was the "Sith he cannot see." Secuulas noticed that Bao-Dur was wearing a Republic warrior uniform, and Bao-Dur told Secuulas that he joined the Republic because he wanted to destroy the Mandalorians, to destroy them for killing his people. Secuulas asked why Bao-Dur was at the Sith academy, which Bao-Dur replied he wants to master his anger.

Secuulas warned Bao-Dur that the the place is for not everyone, and that many Sith he had trained there had failed. However, Bao-Dur told Secuulas he was confident in learning, which impressed Secuulas. Secuulas told Bao-Dur that the Dark Side requires one path for him sacrifice and pain. Secuulas ignites his lightsaber and cuts off Bao-Dur's right arm. Secuulas tells him that his journey towards the darkness has just begun, and that he will be Bao-Dur's master. Secuulas told Bao-Dur that he will become a powerful Sith.

Joining the True Sith[]

At some point, Bao-Dur replaced his lost arm with a mechanical one with a red laser in between the arm and hand. Bao-Dur was trained in the ways of the Sith by Darth Secuulas, and at some point, Bao-Dur aligned himself with the True Sith and became Sith Lord Scourge's apprentice. Bao-Dur was selected to be the heir of the True Sith in case Scourge were to ever die. At some point in time, Secuulas came to Bao-Dur and told him that Lord Scourge has made contact and that Revan has been secured. He also asked bao-Dur if he is ready for the next phase, in which Bao-Dur approved. Secuulas asked Bao-Dur if he really wants to, as it is going to hurt. Bao-Dur replied that the plan must be executed.

Meeting an traveling with Meetra Surik[]

Bao-Dur undercovered as an engineer, like he was back at the Mandalorian Wars, and found his old ally Meetra Surik, along with Surik's allies, on a ship crash. Bao-Dur traveled with Surik throughout the galaxy. He was also part of the team on Dxun, the moon of Onderon during the Battle of Onderon. He opened the gateway to long deceased master Freedon Nadd's tomb. However, Bao-Dur was stabbed in the chest by Darth Secuulas, now the right hand man of Dark Lord Darth Nihilus. Bao-Dur collapsed to the floor, seemingly dead to the others, though in reality, this was all part of Secuulas and Bao-Dur's plan. After the battle of Dxun was won by Meetra and her friends, Bao-Dur's body was buried on Telos IV as respect for what he has done. However, Bao-Dur escaped, made his way back to the True Sith, and recovered from his wounds.

Conspiring with the True Sith[]

Eventually, Scourge had visions of Meetra Surik arriving on Dromund Kaas, and went into a secret chamber where he contacted Bao-Dur via hologram. Scourge told Bao-Dur that all of their enemies will be in one place, and that he would want him by his side as they rightfully take what is theirs. Bao-Dur, bowing before Scourge, told him that all of their enemies will fall.

However, Scourge was later stabbed in the back and killed by Meetra Surik, after she discovered his true plans. Scourge's corpse was later found by Bao-Dur, and he ignited his lightsaber as he smiled. Bao-Dur became the new leader of the True Sith, and sought to overthrow Sith Emperor Vitiate and his Sith Empire.

Becoming Sith Emperor[]

Bao-Dur leads his forces to infiltrate the citadel of the Sith Emperor. There, Bao-Dur hid in the shadows. Kaizen Drackmoor, one of the highest ranked Sith Lords of the True Sith, entered the throne room. Drackmoor proclaimed the return of the True Sith and that they came back to take what is rightfully theirs. The Emperor, Vitiate, was amused by this, and demonstrated a force ritual on Drackmoor and his assistants. However, just before he could strike, Bao-Dur stabbed the Emperor in the back, killing him and ending his millennia long reign. Captain Yarri, the captain of the Emperor's guard, was shocked and sought to fight Bao-Dur herself. However, Bao-Dur forced Yarri into submission by force choking her. Bao-Dur was proclaimed new Emperor of the Sith Empire. Bacari, one of the slaves of Darth Nyriss, one of Vitiate's Dark Council members, became the new slave of the new Emperor. After that day, the True Sith merged with the Sith Empire, becoming the True Sith Empire, led by Bao-Dur.

Hunt for Bacari[]

Ten years later, in 3,940 BBY, Bao-Dur was planning on invading the Jedi and Republic. He gathered Sith artifacts from various Sith planets, Exegol, Korriban, and Ziost. It was around this time that the slave Bacari escaped to Nar Shadda and was rescued by Mission Vao and Bobec. Kaizen Drackmoor, Yarri, and a Mandalorian named Spaar went into a meditation chamber, where Bao-Dur was meditating using Sith holocrons, experiencing visions of his past. After Yarri informed Bao-Dur of the news, Spaar expressed his anger towards the Emperor, telling him that they have served the Sith for too long. Bao-Dur responded that Mandalorians are no better than mercenary thugs, and that he destroyed the Mandalorian people, before snapping Spaar's neck and killing him. Yarri asks Bao-Dur of what to do about Bacari, in which Bao-Dur replied to leave it to him.

On Korriban[]

Bao-Dur later found himself on Korriban, the homeworld of the Sith, where he sensed voices of people from various places and time periods. Bao-Dur meditated, witnessing another visions of his past when he first entered the Sith world of Malachor V. Bao-Dur was then interrupted by two Sith Lords, one that informed him that they retrieved the final Sith artifact and another female Sith Lord who informed him that spies on Coruscant had made contact and reported that Bacari was on Coruscant. Bao-Dur, pleased, walks away with the Sith Lord.

Trivia[]

  • In the original Knights of the Old Republic games, he is not a villain or Sith at all.
