Hello, boys. I beg for your help. Do not be afraid, I am your ally.
~ Belos greeting Philip and Caleb for the first time.

Belos is the main antagonist of the first season of the upcoming Owl House fanfic, Whittebane.

He is a mysterious entity residing in the forest of the Boiling Isles who stalks the Whittebane brothers with an unknown goal in mind. He is the archenemy of both Philip and Caleb Whittebane, as well as the arch-nemeses of the unseen "Human".

Biography[]

Origins[]

Assuming Belos' monologue is correct, Belos was once a glorious hero and emperor before a traitorous human and her allies defeated him. Through unknown means, Belos survived the attack and landed in the Boiling Isles, where he resided in the forest, plotting his revenge.

"Celebration"[]

To celebrate the day he and Philip found themselves in the "Wizarding" world, Caleb hosts a small party filled with witches who knew him and Philip. Philip, however, didn't want to enjoy the party, as he was still paranoid over the witches, left the party to go walk in the woods with Caleb following, where the two encounter Belos.

Upon seeing the giant behemoth, Caleb and Philip react with shock and Philip pulls out a dagger. Belos instead convinces them to drop their weapons and worry, as he was but a lonely traveler. The boys, still fearful of the entity standing before them, ask his name. Belos replies that his name was irrelevant, but they are allowed to call him "Belos".

Belos then leads them to his tent, where he reveals a story describing his past. Caleb, however, doesn't believe Belos' story due to the plot-hole of why so many people would attack him if he was a "hero", to which Belos replies with a growl. Belos then explains that he has knowledge of how to get back to the human world, which excites Philip. Belos then asks Philip to stay and help him get supplies for the return to the human world, which Philip agrees to.

After going to do research on Belos, Caleb and Evelyn discover that Belos might be the "Isle Stalker", a mysterious serial killer who had killed three witches previously, causing Caleb and Evelyn to run out to the woods in order to warn Philip. Meanwhile, Belos explains to Philip how he intends on gaining enough palisman in hopes of getting "even" on the human who defeated him.

TBH.

Personality[]

Belos describes himself as "a man of one belief". Although at first, he shows himself to be a calm and sophisticated creature, his facade drops and reveals that he is actually an evil and wrathful individual with an extreme hatred for witches, even causing the confirmed death of 3 prior to "Celebration" and 1 in "Last Man Standing". He also demonstrates some level of sadism, having a deranged interest in possessing Evelyn to kill Caleb, knowing full well that Caleb was in love with her.

As the series went on, Belos has become the sworn nemeses of Philip and Caleb. For Caleb, the two hate each other greatly and Belos wants nothing but pain for him. For Philip, the feeling is more one-sided, as Belos views Philip as a "work in progress", while Philip seeks to kill Belos for both attacking Caleb and to finally release his dark emotions.

Trivia[]

  • Rather than be based on Belos from Owl House, this Belos is more based on The Lich from Adventure Time.
  • It's unclear why he treats Philip better than Caleb, though it's implied that he is aware of Philip's hatred for witches.
