Bender Bending Rodriguez Sr., is a recurring major character in the Character What franchise, and the tritagonist of the sci-fi comedy show series Futurama.
Personality[]
Much like the canon counterpart, Bender is well known to be a rude, self-absorbed, selfish, greedy, and insensitive robot who usually care about no one but himself. He enjoys committing crimes, such as thief, mugging, and attempting to wipe out all of humanity, except his best friend Philip J. Fry.
Despite his sociopathic intendencies, Bender does has a softer side; he does show genuine compassion and feel remorse upon he realizing that his actions had gone to far. He goes genuinely care about the Planet Express Crew and Shadow Joe and his teammates, and see them as his friends and his personal family.
Biography[]
Character What: Chronicles[]
Bender used Professor Farnsworth's time machine to travel back in time to deliver a message to Shadow Joe. However, before Bender could deliver the message as tasked by Farnsworth, during one of Shadow Joe fights with Shadow Aaron, the time machine was destroyed by Shadow Aaron, leaving Bender stranded in the present.
In Homer Meets Bender, Bender caught Bambi in one of his traps set to capture deer and intent to cook one for dinner, Homer Simpson attacks Bender to protect Bambi. Bender explains to Homer that he is from the future and quickly become friends with him, due to their similar personality, and enjoy drinking beer to together in the woods. At the end of the episode, they announced to be the best friends.
In Missing Llama, Bender sneaks into Shadow Joe's house to take some beer that Shadow Joe keeps in his fridge in case he had guests, such as Homer Simpson. Unbeknownst to him, Llama Llama and Mama Llama was investigating downstairs after hearing Bender making too much noise, mistaking him as a burglar. When Bender took a beer out of the fridge, Mama Llama whacks him with a broom, knocking him down on the floor. Llama Llama was frightened of Bender and still thinks he is a burglar so he whacks repeatably with a baseball bat, but Shadow Joe tell Llama to stop attacking Bender, explaining that Bender is one of his friends. Shadow Joe introduced Bender to Llama Llama and Mama Llama and tell them that he is a robot from the future. He also introduced Llama Llama and Mama Llama to Bender and explains that they are from a another universe. However, Bender doesn't to seem to like the two llama, and started calling them "Fuzzy Meatbags". before Shadow Joe tells him leave, which Bender does. Next Morning, Bender came to Shadow Joe's house again for more beer, which Shadow Joe reluctantly invite him inside. Bender was surprised to see that Llama Llama and Mama Llama still in the house, and decide to sit at the table with them. Llama Llama questions Bender why he needs to drink lots of beer and smokes cigars, which he explains that he needs copious of alcohol to keep his fuel cells charge, and the reason why he smokes with cigars is that they make look cool.
In one of the episodes, Bender got engaged in a quite similar long and violent chicken brawl with Peter Griffin. Much like Peter's fights with Ernie the Giant Chicken, Bender fought Peter in different places and cause collateral damage to everywhere they go, as well as causing serious injuries or unintentional deaths to thereby people. Their fight takes place at pet shop, a train station, and a mall.
One of Bender's infamous villainous role is in Bender Drama, prior to the episode, Bender committed several acts of thief, such as steal Roo, Hector Con Carne's stomach, Genie's lamb, and Sir Topham Hatt's hat. Shadow Joe was finally fed up with Bender's consistency committing crimes and took back the things stolen. Further into the episode, Llama Llama was stuck up a tree, where he accidently thrown his Fuzzy Llama toy too high up into tree and used a ladder to help get up the tree and get his Fuzzy Llama back, after the wind blown the ladder. Llama Llama pleas Bender to help het him down, but Bender refuses, exclaiming that is Llama Llama's problem, not he's. Bender walking away ignoring Llama Llama's pleas and laughs at Llama's predicament. Later, Shadow Joe help Llama Llama get down from the tree, he explains to Shadow Joe about Bender refusing to help him. After hearing this, Shadow Joe banned Bender from his house to get more beer as punishment for neglecting Llama Llama. Angry from being banned from Shadow Joe's house, Bender put blame on Llama Llama for getting in trouble and plots revenge. Later at night, when Llama Llama along Mama Llama and Shadow Joe settle down for the night, Bender seeks into Shadow Joe's house and kidnaps Llama Llama was he was still asleep. Bender took Llama Llama to a abandoned warehouse, when Llama Llama wakes up, Bender explains his intentions of giving Llama Llama a "Llama Bending" as revenge for getting him kicked out of Shadow Joe's house. Llama Llama try to run and hide from Bender, but Bender manages to grab him by his legs, Llama Llama tearfully pleads Bender not to hurt him, but Bender refuses and claims that he is doing because it makes him happy. Before Bender give Llama Llama a "Llama Bending", Shadow Joe calls Bender out and demands him to stop, Shadow Joe use his telekinesis to levitate Llama Llama away from Bender. Shadow Joe angrily scolds Bender for how badly his treated Llama Llama, Mama Llama give Bender a well-deserve slap in face, causing his head to spin away, she even lifts Llama Llama up to Bender and gives the robot a few slaps in the face. Afterwards, Shadow Joe decided to had Bender taken into custody as punishment for actions.
In Bender's Big Score, Shadow Joe finally reduced Bender's sentence and informs him that the Doctor will come later to return Bender back to the future, much to his delight. However, Shadow Joe delivers a strict warming to not commit anymore crimes and stay away from Llama Llama and Mama Llama, which Bender begrudgingly considers. Bender wanted to join Shadow Aaron's empire. However, despite knowing that Bender is the most evil robot from the future, Shadow Aaron rejected him, exclaiming that Bender has too many redeeming qualities. Bender soon meets up with Llama Llama and Mama Llama after being thrown out of the villain bar. Llama and his mother was not too happy to see Bender because of their last time they met and want nothing to do with Bender for all his horrible treatment of them. Disgruntled and wanted respect and appreciation, Bender decided to be superhero dubbed "Super Bender" in a intent to earn appreciation, knowing that Shadow Joe is very well-respected for being a hero. Despite Bender's best efforts, he was unreliable and unintentionality causes problems. Realizing that being a superhero is not for him, he gives up being Super Bender and dumb his cape and mask in a thereby bin. Shortly afterwards, Bender is next seen sitting on a bench, feeling depressed of his failure of being a superhero in a effort to earn appreciation. However, Shadow Joe along with Dawn, Twilight Sparkle, Bambi, Felicity and Miguel spotted Bender and noticed that he was feeling depressed. Shadow Joe sympathize with Bender and had a heart to heart conversation, encouraging him to be himself and explain that doing the right thing will come eventually. After their conversation, Shadow Joe invited Bender to come along with his friends to the planetarium, which they agree because they feel sorry for him as well, except for Miguel still didn't trust Bender. Once they arrive at the planetarium, Shadow Joe trusted Bender enough to explore the planetarium by himself after asking Shadow Joe's permission to do so.
Villainous Arts[]
- Retain his canonic crimes from Futurama.
- He sold his firstborn son to the Robot Devil and threw him into in the fires of Robot Hell for a demonic army.
- He doesn't feel genuine concern for Llama Llama being "kidnapped" by Judge Joe (a variant of Shadow Joe), only joining Shadow Joe and Mama Llama in the search for Llama Llama because he was curious to know what happening to Llama Llama.
- Throughout Character What: Chronicles, he was mean to Llama Llama and Mama Llama for no reason, and often calling them "Fuzzy Meatbags".
- He injured Grandpa Llama's left hand with hammer and laughs at his pain.
- He bends Gram Llama's flute only because he didn't like the sound of it, causing Gram Llama to cry in tears, which Bender found amusement. This action result Bender getting thrown out of Shadow Joe's house as punishment.
