Joey Drew, later known as Bendy the Demon, The Ink Demon, and Beast Bendy, is the main antagonist of AndyBTTF's (now named Cubical) BATIM Minecraft animation series.
He is one of the founders of Joey Drew Studios, along with his best friend and partner, Henry Stein. After Henry's death in a car accident, Joey attempts to resurrect him as an ink creature using a machine called the Ink Machine. His efforts were successful with Henry being reborn as a human with an old cartoon color scheme. However, Joey was instead used as a vessel by an ink entity named the Ink Demon to terrorize the entire Joey Drew Studios and create more ink creatures. When Henry visits Joey Drew Studios after getting a letter from Joey, the Ink Demon makes several attempts to kill him.
In Spotlight, his singing voice was provided by Charlie "CG5" Green V, who also provided the singing voice of Henry Stein in Absolutely Anything from the same series. In Artistic Hallowing, his singing was provided by Will Ryan, founder of the DAGames channel.
Biography[]
Backstory[]
Not much is known about Joey's past, other than he formed a partnership with someone named Henry Stein to create their own animation studio. Initially, they used a character named Alice Angel as the main star. However, they decided to make a new character named Bendy the Demon as the main star, while Alice became the secondary character along with another character named Boris the Wolf. The animations they created were a huge success, making them and their studio known throughout the city.
Prequel : Artistic Hallowing[]
While driving the car, because he was talking to Henry, Joey didn't focus on the road, which ultimately resulted in their car crashing into another car, causing a serious accident. When Joey woke up from fainting, he found that Henry was dead, shocking him. A few days after Henry's death, Joey visits the film studio he founded with Henry. After seeing Henry's photos, Joey became very devastated and sad about the death of his best friend. Trying to revive Henry, Joey builds a machine called the Ink Machine that can create ink creatures. Joey tries to resurrect Henry as an ink creature using the Ink Machine. However, after throwing Henry's photo into the Ink Machine, the machine malfunctions and makes Joey unconscious. In his subconscious, Joey meets an ink entity resembling Bendy named Ink Demon. The Ink Demon makes an offer to Joey, where the Ink Demon will resurrect Henry as a human with an old cartoon color scheme, but in exchange, Joey must give up his body as the Ink Demon's vessel. Before Joey could agree to the offer, Ink Demon immediately took Joey to the real world.
After waking up from unconsciousness, Joey discovered that part of his body had turned into ink and his right eye had turned orange. Joey immediately walked upstairs and saw ink footprints leading out of the studio. Realizing the great threat of the Ink Demon, Joey wrote a letter to Henry, telling him to come to the studio and save him from the Ink Demon and other ink creatures. When he wants to send a letter, Joey sees Henry who has been resurrected and tries to call him. However, because his left face had turned into the Ink Demon, Joey decided not to do it and ran into the studio, not realizing that Henry saw him for a moment and read his letter. Joey ran to where the Ink Machine was and lowered it down the hole. Right after the Ink Machine was lowered, Joey's transformation was complete, revealing Joey who had now completely transformed into the Ink Demon. Knowing that Henry has entered the studio, the Ink Demon tries to kill him so he can be transformed into an ink creature too.
Part 1 : Spotlight[]
While turning the power back on in the studio, Henry also activates a projector showing old cartoon of Bendy, accidentally attracting Bendy's attention. Bendy then appears while stalking Henry and directing him to where the Ink Machine is. After the Ink Machine is pulled up and Henry wants to leave, Bendy appears and confronts him, surprising Henry. Initially acting pacifist, Bendy suddenly became aggressive and angrily blamed Henry for his transformation. Bendy's eyes then turned aggressive and suddenly he turned into the Ink Demon. Two of Ink Demon's subordinates, Striker and Fisher appear and are ordered by Ink Demon to kill Henry. Fortunately, Henry managed to escape by entering the hole where the Ink Machine was lowered earlier. The Ink Demon himself smiled evilly because Henry will meet more ink creatures that will kill him.
The Ink Demon continues to stalk Henry and his new friend, Boris, into a dark room. After the door closes, Bendy shows himself to Henry and Boris. Initially putting on a friendly face, Bendy's door suddenly closes, along with the lights flickering and ink leaking. After a while, Bendy's door opens again and shows Bendy turning into the Ink Demon again, making Henry and Boris scared and run away. Ink Demon tried to catch the two of them by teleporting. Unfortunately for the Ink Demon, Henry and Boris managed to escape using the elevator which went down, leaving a frustrated Ink Demon behind.
Part 2 : To Be Beautiful[]
The Ink Demon makes a brief appearance, where he emerges from an ink portal and confronts Henry again. Henry threw his axe at the Ink Demon to slow down its movement and immediately ran away. However, the Ink Demon managed to remove the axe and started chasing Henry again. Luckily, Henry manages to close the door just before the Ink Demon can catch him, leaving an irritated Ink Demon.
Part 3 : Clearer[]
The Ink Demon sends his subordinates, the Butcher Gang, to chase and kill Henry, while he sits on his throne with an evil grin. However, knowing that Henry managed to survive and reach the Throne Room, Ink Demon decided to face Henry directly and immediately transformed into his final form : Beast Bendy. Beast Bendy immediately slammed Henry into a wall and started chasing him. Luckily for Henry, the Ink Machine came down in time to help Henry who immediately climbed onto the machine. However, Beast Bendy still tries to catch Henry by climbing the wall and holding on to the Ink Machine. Just when Beast Bendy almost managed to catch Henry, Henry saw the exit door and immediately jumped at the door while throwing his axe at Beast Bendy, managing to escape from the nightmare at Joey Drew Studios. Meanwhile, bad luck befell Beast Bendy because the chain pulling the Ink Machine came loose and caused both the Ink Machine and Beast Bendy to fall from a height.
After falling from a height, the Ink Demon appears to have disappeared and left Joey's body, causing Joey to be free from the ink entity's evil influence. Joey is then seen waking up from his unconscious state in his human form with no signs that the Ink Demon is still possessing him.
Appearance[]
As Bendy, he's is an old-fashioned cartoon character, having a black and white color scheme, cartoonish gloves, and a (not always) cheerful-looking face. In addition to this, the top of his head resembles cartoony horns. He wears a white bow tie, and sports black shoes. His eyes are in a pie-cut style, just like the other cartoon characters.
As the Ink Demon, he is a vaguely humanoid monster made of ink that barely resembles his original look. Extremely tall, his horns have a natural curve reminiscent of real animal horns and his eyes are obscured by thick ink covering his head. His torso is bulky and he has spikes coming out of his back and parts of his shoulders. His stature is big, yet almost skeletal in certain parts. His left hand is partially gloved while his right one lacks a glove, both of the have large claws, with his right forearm appearing to be almost bone-like. His legs are now incredibly skinny and have a digitigrade stance with cloven hooves, reemphasizing the demonic imagery.
As Beast Bendy, he is taller and skinnier than his normal self, showing much broader spines on the back and shoulders, no eyes, and bearing rows of sharp teeth and longer but slender horns. His arms are the longest parts of his body, while his legs remain the same length, resulting in him having to walk on his arms. He has two holes in each of his hands, resembling the buttons on his cartoon variant's gloves.
As Joey Drew, he is a man with medium fair skin, light brown eyes, and brownish hair. He wore bronze-colored glasses, a folded-sleeved gray shirt, a black tie, black suspender pants, and black shoes.
Personality[]
As Joey Drew, he was a loyal, kind, optimistic, caring, and confident friend. Joey is very close and cares about Henry, showing sadness and crying when looking at photos of Henry after his death. Because his concern for Henry was the reason Joey built the Ink Machine to revive him. However, Joey's self-confidence ultimately becomes his downfall, as he confidently believes that the machine can instantly revive him, unaware of the huge consequences of his actions. In the midst of his transformation, Joey sends a letter to Henry to save him, showing that he only trusts Henry to save him and stop the terror of the Ink Demon and his gang.
In contrast to Joey, the Ink Demon is a ruthless, selfish, arrogant, vengeful, deceitful, manipulative, cunning, vicious, oppressive, and homicidal demon. He really didn't care about his subordinates, letting all his subordinates fight Henry and his friends without providing any help to his subordinates at all. Ink Demon is also very lazy, letting his subordinates do his deeds instead of having to do it himself. His laziness can also be seen when chasing Henry, preferring to teleport rather than having to chase on his feet. He was very cunning, not telling Joey that he would be used as a vessel for him if Henry was resurrected.
After becoming Beast Bendy, he became wilder and more vicious in hunting Henry. He likes to torture Henry by slamming him several times against the wall. He was also very determined to kill Henry and not let him escape Joey Drew Studios, chasing him even after Henry went upward using the Ink Machine.
