Boss_beta or Beta is one of available boss maps that the players can vote on, and once successfully voted, they will be directed to the map and will fight against 'failed clones' of the three developers
Overview[]
Players get sent into a map which appears to be a grass-textured floating island in the shape of an Octagram with eight points and 16 sides that floats in a sky-box void.
In the Christmas update, the grass texture is replaced with a snow texture with snow falling around the platform. This change can also be viewed in the voting icon for the map
Gameplay[]
Once a majority of players voted on the Beta map, they will teleport to the boss. During this, their screen will be locked to a position where the Beta Devs make their opening appearances. After the bosses finish spawning, the game will start. The players' objective is to fight off and defeat all three bosses before the timer runs out. Lore
Lore[]
Generally speaking, being based on previous developer avatars, the Beta Devs are test clones of Jean, Port, and Xerroz, these clones of which are scrapped and were sent to the realm of the unused, the exact reasoning for this is unclear. Later on, a portal opens a gate to an unknown realm in which the Beta Devs enter from inside. At one point, they encounter Weegee, who offers a deal to bring him back to popularity, which according to Port, sort of works. The players will eventually meet with the Beta Devs and fight them for one of two things, for fun, or because they have a sociopathic mental disorder. Seeking revenge from their original creators, they accept the match. Unlike most developers, they do not die permanently after defeat, given their abilities to teleport back on land after falling into an abyss.
Trivia[]
- Beta Xerroz has the most initial HP out of everyone else being 1550, while Beta Jean has the least, coming at 1000 to start.
- Beta Xerroz, alongside the Trashgang Devs, are the only bosses that do not inflict Knockback.
- Initially, all of the Beta Devs' map were planned to release before boss_sage would, but was cancelled due to being buggy at the time.
- Despite that, this map is the first boss map to include more than one boss or enemy to fight.
- If any of the three bosses were to fall off the terrain, they will simply teleport back without suffering any sort of damage. This cannot be said to others bosses (except Trashgang and Klevprime) however.
- However, this doesn't work for players as they will just simply die upon falling off the terrain.
- The bosses don't actually appear out of nowhere. In the cutscene, they actually are moved very high up where a normal player cannot see, however this can only be done with exploits by unlocking your camera and increasing the maximum zoom distance.
- Sometimes, in mobile versions, the textures don't load properly, causing a visual glitch. This does not affect the game.
- There is a bug that causes Beta Port to die when falling off the edge rather than being teleported back up.
- Their voting icon pose is based off of the Pillar Men from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency.
