Beta Jean is one of the three failed clones of the original devs and of the three bosses that appear in Boss_Beta
along with Beta Port and Beta Xerroz.
Overview[]
Beta Jean consists of short, blondish spiky hair, a pair of white sunglasses, light skin, a smiling expression, and a brown horseshoe mustache. His outfit consists of a black shirt with fire patterns at the bottom along with his entire collar, a gray ring necklace, A pair of blue jeans, and white shoes. He wields a pixelated turquoise colored dagger as his primary weapon. This weapon is based on Cube Cavern daggers.
Abilities[]
Jean's base health is 1000, and his walk speed is around 21, allowing him to chase after players a bit easier. To fight off players, Jean will use one of his attacks below.
Dagger Stab - Jean will stab players with his Cube Cavern Dagger. This attack deals 32 damage upon hit and inflicts a Poison effect.
Heal - Jean will stop in place, raise his arm and heal either one of the three Devs by 20% of their maximum HP.
Dagger Airstrike - Jean jumps up into the air, and strikes down a random player with his dagger. Any players who were to be caught in the airstrike will be dealt with 45 damage, but will be ragdolled and thrown far away if they are not careful. This may risk them a life if Jean throws them off the platform.
Teleportation - Jean will immediately teleport to any corners of the map, leaving a small turquoise orb that appears for a brief second. Jean also has a chance to teleport every time he is hit.
Strategy[]
The player can either finish off Jean first and finish off Xerroz last, due to Jean's ability to heal himself and the other beta devs. Alternatively, the player can defeat Port first so they can easily wipe the other two without Port interrupting. Either strategy is equally effective, it all depends on personal preference. The player should stay as far from Port as possible, as his moveset allows him to toss players into the air; this allows the other Beta Devs to attack, putting the player at risk of dying. If Port does get close enough to attack, one should escape his vision and jump continuously. Jean may attack users repeatedly with the same ability. During this period, the player should make use of weapons that can knock him back or weapons that increase your mobility. The player should not attack Xerroz with any melee weapon, as he will in most cases teleport at them or away from them if they attempt doing so. It is recommended to have items such as skeleton juice or cassiebucks coffee as they increase your movement speed, allowing one to out manuever the Beta Devs' attacks. It is best kill Jean first, as his ability to heal either him, Port, or Xerroz can destroy any progress one may have made. Port and Xerroz can be roadblocks in killing Jean, however, so if one has the firepower it may be better to take care of them first.
Perfect Run Strategy[]
The Beta Devs are simple to beat if you get certain "good" items, but if you do not receive these items, you're in for a world of pain. Beating them with "The Perfect Run" enabled awards you with the achievement triple threat takedown. The following is the most optimal strategy if one wishes to defeat the Beta Devs by themself.:
Trivia[]
- JeanRBLX's beta avatar makes a cameo appearance in the map ffa_betaislands in which he is depicted as a chromatic statue with text under him saying "Xerroz and Port didn't want me to make this map, so I did it anyways" with his username at the bottom indicating it as a quote.
- In the Christmas update, it was temporarily changed to "help I'm frozen".
- He also appears in lobby_purgatory.
- Jean is the only Boss to fail landing on two feet during his boss transition, and instead landing on his chest. He is subsequently the last one out of the three to introduce themselves visually and he gets back up later.
- His design is based of Guy Fieri, a famous restaurateur and author.
- The reasoning behind the appearance is because of Jean ("looks cool").
