William Afton I (also called Bill Afton, or William Afton the first) is a fan interpretation of the Orange Guy in the 6th main game of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.
He is the villainous main protagonist of the midnight motorist mini-game, and the main antagonist of “the beginning” and “finale.” He is William and Vanessa Afton’s father, as well as the father of William’s siblings (who would later become the phantoms). He is a deranged murderer who is indirectly responsible for just about everything that happened in the franchise.

Origins[]
It is never mentioned what his childhood was like, though he is implied to be from a very wealthy family. Also, if you look around in “beginning,” you can find medical charts that imply that Bill has brain damage to the frontal cortex (which would explain his sociopathic tendencies). At some point, he was forced into an arranged marriage to a young woman. Their relationship was toxic, as Bill would constantly beat and yell at the woman. They would soon have an uncertain amount of kids, two of which being William Afton (Springtrap) and Vanessa (Vanny).
Personality[]
From what is seen, Bill is a very aggressive and psychopathic individual. He is incapable of feeling remorse or love for anyone. One could argue that he felt some love towards William, but this is proven to be a way to manipulate him.
Villainous actions[]
- Abused the woman he was forced to marry.
- Emotionally abused and manipulated his kids for self-serving reasons.
- Upon learning of remnant, would inject it into his kids and then torture them by killing them and watching them come back to life.
- Would abduct and kill seemingly random people for an unknown reason.
- Implied to have cut off the legs of his eldest child.
- Implied to have murdered one of his kids.
- Manipulated Vanessa into helping him win a divorce with his wife. This would lead to his wife committing suicide, and Bill made Vanessa believe it was because of her.
- Tried to convince William to hurt Henry.
- Once he died from a stroke, haunted William to the point of insanity.
- Indirectly caused William’s murder spree.
- Once William supposedly died, Bill faked sympathy for his son, before leaving his body.
- Came back as an abandoned animatronic that William and Henry failed to complete to kill more people.
- Attempted to kill a little girl named Rose and eventually Golden Freddy and Springtrap.
Trivia[]
- Bill is similar to William Afton from the FNAF books.
- One of the phantoms who appear in “beginning” claims that “he didn’t love me, and he doesn’t love you,” implying that Bill murdered one of his kids.
- It is never stated why he sought to kill Rose in the first place.
- A voice can be heard during his fight with Springtrap that appears to say either “Sorry” or “Freddy.” It is believed that William is saying sorry for his crimes.
