Bill Sikes, born as William Butcher, is the main antagonist of the 2020 epic remake Oliver Twist: Revisited.

He is a ruthless crime boss who uses Oliver to further his crimes, thus ordering him and The Dodger to steal money from the bank. He also happens to be Fagin's partner in crime and Nancy's abusive boyfriend and former boss.

He is portrayed by Joe Manganiello, who also played Deathstroke from the DC Extended Universe movies.

History[]

Born as William Butcher, he changed his identity into the notorious, well-known crime lord Bill Sikes. As time goes by he abducts children and he becomes the abusive boyfriend of Nancy, who later joined his crime business as well. Many kids were abducted and forced to serve him and steal things from others, so that he could eventually become rich. Eventually, one of his underlings Marianne (also known as The Dodger) have befriended Oliver Twist, who became part of Fagin's lot of criminals. After Fagin taught Oliver to pick pockets of other people, Oliver and Dodger went to the pub, as they have met Nancy and later also Bill Sikes.

Sikes heard from Nancy that he is the same boy which Fagin needed to further their heists. Bill tells Oliver to have some rest, because he is planning something big and special for the next day; a grand theft at the city bank.

Oliver later steals a bag with money from the person who is revealed to be his great grandfather, Edward Bronslow. Bronslow however promises to take care of him, but fails as Oliver goes out to the park to talk to Marianne. Marianne and Oliver fell in love, just before Sikes found them both while being accompanied by the unwilling Nancy, and Oliver was brave enough to tell Sikes to leave Marianne alone. Bill however chokes Oliver, and both Oliver and The Dodger are then forced to come with him and invade the bank during the night when it's closed, and steal all the money as part of his plans for a grand theft. However, Oliver gives Marianne money and tells her to live her life outside the criminal underworld. She accepts it and kisses Oliver before leaving and abandoning Sikes and Fagin.

Sikes then recieves the money and helps Oliver carry it back to Fagin's lair. Sikes gives Fagin a little bit of cash, while most of it he takes for himself. While they look at the money they have got, Nancy betrays Sikes and protects Oliver while she helps him escape. Sikes however sadistically stabs Nancy and he eventually catches up with Oliver. The Dodger then brought Detective Charles to Sikes who was the real culprit behind Oliver's grand theft. Sikes ordered Oliver to throw a rope off the building so he could reach a window and sneak into it. However, he finds himself down with the angry mob and Oliver doesn't help him go back up. Bill is then shot to death by Detective Charles.

Personality[]

Bill Sikes is a mean, ambitious, cunning, deceiving, megalomaniacal and ultimately ruthless individual who cares only about his own wealth and popularity. He doesn't love anyone, not even Nancy whom he killed during the story's final moments. He also mistreated Oliver and the rest of his underlings, and he enjoyed harming others. Bill was a monster who would kill children to further his profit.
