The Black Raiders are the secondary antagonists in the episode of Elites of War: Chronicles, "First Cohort". They are an enemy force who waged war against the UNSC's Sephoran Guard who manage to succeed in turning the tables due to Swagger's betrayal along with the rest of the UNSC Sephoran Command.

Not much about the Black Raiders is known except they are an organized group of raiders who waged war against the Sephorans of the UNSC on the homeworld, Sephora. When the Black Raider's offensive became too much, the Sephoran Command had 12 frigates ready to strike back only to instead transport goods for their greed with one of them being Swagger before retreating to the mountains to conceal their cowardice. As a result, the Black Raiders invaded and destroyed the Sephoran's city, homes and even many soldiers who fought to risk their lives.
Elites of War:Chronicles[]
During the offensive, the Black Raiders raided a Sephoran outpost designated Hill 447 and attacked the Sephorans there that were led by Gregory Recko when he was a member of the Sephoran Guard. Unable to call command to have reinforcements ready, Recko declares that they are on their own. When they continued pushing through the defenses, the Sephorans at first gain the upper hand using a Scorpion to shoot at them. This turn of events unfortunately changed turning for the worse for the Sephorans as the Black Raiders' reinforcements arrived with their own Scorpions to destroy the base, killing all of the Sephorans except Recko who survived the onslaught.
In the aftermath after capturing Swagger to expose him and command to any survivor, Gharst and Jan arrived to Hill 447 where they witnessed the destruction with corpses of both Sephorans and Black Raiders left behind. The Legion were sent to scavage their bodies for any supplies they left behind. While searching, they soon met Recko and exposed Swagger and the command to him about their actions and how the Black Raiders won. As a result of having the Black Raiders cause enough devastation to his men, Recko executes Swagger with Gharst promising that they will all hunt down anyone who are like him for leaving their people to die at the hands of their enemy.

- Given that this is their only appearance, it remains unknown if they are still around or possibly dissolved even when the franchise got rebooted in Season 3.
- While unconfirmed, it is possibly they are an Insurrectionist movement who oppose the UNSC in the past.
