~ Dalv to Clover as he mistakes them for the Blue Soul human. |
The Blue Soul Human is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside Asgore) of the UNDERTALE fanmade prequel Undertale Yellow. The fifth human to fall into the Underground after Chara, the Blue Soul human presumably embarked on a path of genocide, attacking numerous monsters along the way, including the friend of a Boss Monster named Kanako. This would enrage her father Chujin, who sent his newest creation Axis to neutralise the human at Waterfall, obtaining their soul and ending the human's rampage.
Despite their death, the Blue Soul human would posthumously influence the story, with an attempted fusion of their soul and Chujin's killing him and causing Kanako to fall down after she's injected with it. This would spur Chujin's wife Ceroba to seek out a pure human soul in order to obtain the determination needed to revive her daughter, as well as continue Chujin's legacy.
Biography[]
Background[]
At least a year before the events of Undertale Yellow, the Blue Soul human fell into the Underground, where they traversed across the Ruins and left Toriel to enter Snowdin. When they started attacking monsters is unknown, but judging by the Snowdin NPCs' terrified reactions to a genocidal Clover, it's likely the human had already begun killing monsters when they first entered Snowdin, causing them to build up a reputation.
The human would eventually find Kanako and her friend Dalv in Snowdin. Knowing the danger the human posed to his friend, Dalv would attack only to get badly injured while Kanako would be forced to flee. Upon hearing this news, Kanako's father Chujin would be enraged and thus, he would send his prototype guard, Axis to hunt down the human. The robot would eventually track the human down to Waterfall, neutralising them and claiming their soul. With the human killed, the human's rampage would be immortalised as the "Snowdin Incident", serving as a stark reminder to monsterkind on the dangers of humans.
Despite the human's killing spree being ended, Dalv would be deeply traumatised by this encounter and isolate himself in the Dark Ruins, fearing arrival of another human. Chujin would also grow to have a misanthropic view of humanity thanks to his daughter's life being threatened, though he and Axis would somewhat regret committing this act of murder. As such, Chujin would begin work on a serum that allows regular monsters to ascend into Boss Monsters in order to grant them a chance at fending off hostile humans.
To accomplish this, Chujin, being a Boss Monster himself, would fuse his own Soul with the Blue Soul, hoping to extract an essence from this fusion to form the serum. Unfortunately, thanks to the human having killed at least 1 monster before their death, Chujin's soul would become corrupted by this act of violence and he would start to waste away. However, Chujin would be determined to create this perfected serum and leaves a video tape for his wife Ceroba, asking of her to find a willing Boss Monster and pure human soul to recreate the serum, asking of her not to let their daughter Kanako, a Boss Monster as well, to be involved in the experiments. Before passing away peacefully, Chujin would relay more instructions to Ceroba and cause her to be determined to carry on her husband's legacy.
For the next few years Ceroba would search the Underground for any willing volunteers to no avail. Eventually, Kanako would hear of her father's experiments and, despite his wishes, volunteer to be the host of the human soul. Ceroba would initially refuse but, thanks to running out of options and finding a document alleging a pure extract had been obtained, would eventually oblige and inject Kanako with the blue soul's extract, causing the soul's impurity to deteriorate her soul and make her fall down. With even her daughter on the brink of death, Ceroba sends Kanako to Dr. Alphys, hoping that the royal scientist's determination experiments could revive her and becomes even more determined to find a new human soul to harvest, hoping that its purity could save Kanako. In the meantime, the Blue Soul would be confiscated by Asgore for his own plan to destroy the barrier and take revenge on the humans.
Undertale Yellow[]

The pillar in the Dark Ruins, only shown via a FUN value event.
The Blue Soul doesn't appear in person in the Neutral or Pacifist route, being only alluded to by Dalv as he mistakes Clover for the human, mentioned by Chujin in his tapes and being seen in its serum form in Ceroba's flashbacks. Blackjack also alludes to them in his dialogue, commenting that even a ballet shoe (the human’s weapon of choice), could be deadly in the right circumstances. If the FUN value is high enough, the human’s adventure in the Underground will be depicted on a series of pillars in the Dark Ruins, with the final pillar suggesting that they had their head blasted off by Axis.
In the Genocide route, Clover's rampage is likened to the Blue Soul human's attacks, with a band member commenting that this "can't be happening again", further implying the Blue Soul embarked on a path of violence. Their attacks are also mentioned by Chujin in Zenith Martlet's flashback as he advises her not to become a Royal Guard, fearing her safety. The Blue Soul itself is seen after Clover kills Asgore and frees the souls, escaping the Underground and avenging their deaths as all 6 humans leave.
Trivia[]
- Chujin mentions in his tapes that he had to hide evidence of the Blue Soul human's death by concealing their belongings in a secluded part of Waterfall. This is a callback to how the human's tutu and shoes can be found in a thicket of tall grass in the original Undertale.
- It is implied that the Blue Soul human was killed by their face being blasted off.
