Bootleg SpongeBob is the main antagonist of the "SpongeBob Bootleg Episode" Creepypasta written by Snozberry.

It is a bootleg tape using an edited still image from "Dumped" an episode from SpongeBob SquarePants's 2nd season that makes people go insane when watching it.

Biography[]

The story is that a group of 5 teenagers stumbled upon the bootleg tape in a trash can from a mental institute. This lead to all 5 teenagers suffering from mental torture. Only one of them was able to talk about the tape as 2 had committed suicide, 1 had gone missing and the other just refused to comment about it. It is said while looking at the static image of the tape, SpongeBob supposedly blinks.

Appearance[]

Bootleg SpongeBob depicts SpongeBob's normal appearance, with the exception of large, hyper realistic, bloodshot eyes and the complete lack of a mouth. His skin contains a slightly more greenish and dark shade of yellow. He has a very distressed look on his face.

Personality[]

Not much is known about the Bootleg tape other than the fact that it's homicidal. It is likely that the effects caused by the tape are just a byproduct of looking as two teenagers committed suicide when viewing Dumped.

As for the character itself, SpongeBob's visibly distressed expression shows that he may be sad, likely due to presumably losing Gary to Patrick, since the tape is a cursed version of the Dumped episode. This doesn't explain why he drove those teenagers insane, however, but it does explain the more tragic tale of the Vibingleaf re-take.

Friday Night Funkin'[]

Main article: Bootleg Spongebob (Mistful Crimson Morning) Bootleg Spongebob is faced in the song, Dumped, by Boyfriend. Here, he is confined to a TV, however he is able to phase out through the screen in his poses. Mid-way through, he grows visibly pissed, and Boyfriend starts hitting it on the guitar. Perfectly normal thing to do when facing a cursed tape.

Retakes[]

Main article: Bootleg Spongebob (Vibingleaf) Bootleg Spongebob appears in this re-take of the Creepypasta where, after he is told by Patrick that Gary has left him for good, the sponge starts to hallucinate a voice (implied to be the Lied Fish's). The voice constantly berates Spongebob, telling him that he is nothing without Gary. Once Patrick puts his pants in the barrel, the ending is abruptly cut, implying that Spongebob is unable to even see the truth that it was all a misunderstanding.

This version of SpongeBob is much more tragic, and less villain-like.

The creator of the "SpongeBob Bootleg Episode" creepypasta is allegedly Snozberry.
The tape "Bootleg SpongeBob" is on functions a lot similarly to The Ring tape with the people viewing them both dying in some way.
Vibingleaf made a Bootleg retake based on the creepypasta and the corresponding episode the creepypasta used of SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon episode "dumped".
Vibingleaf differs by making SpongeBob Lies canon to SpongeBob Bootleg Episode when both are separate creepypastas.
Bootleg SpongeBob also appears in several Friday Night Funkin' mods like Friday Night in Bikini Bottom: Lost Episodes, Mistful Crimson Morning and Misty Tragedy along with a couple others.
