ALL HAIL THE KING!
~ Bowser's most famous quote.
No one who opposes me live to tell the tale.
~ Bowser

King Bowser Koopa Senior, better known as simply Bowser and later Dry Bowser, is the overall main antagonist of Age Of Wario.

He is a monstrous koopa who is the king of the Koopa Empire, and the archenemy of Wario. After gaining demonic powers from the Dark Star, he killed Mario and Luigi and took over the world. After his first death, he ordered his second-in-command Kamek to resurrect him, becoming Dry Bowser.

Appearance[]

Bowser looks mostly similar to his canon incarnation. However, due to being enhanced by the Dark Star, he has grown far larger and muscular, not dissimilar to Giga Bowser, and has a crooked design. He also has red pinpoint eyes and broken chains on his spiked bands. His teeth are also bloodied, most likely from eating his victims.

As Dry Bowser, due to being burnt to death by lava, he has now been reduced to a skeleton. Still under the control of the Dark Star, his eyes are now purple with a thin reptilian pupil. His hair is tied up by a band, and the plates on his shell have a purple glow.

History[]

Background[]

Before his corruption, Bowser used to be a fairly incompetent villain, constantly trying to kidnap Princess Peach and take over the Mushroom Kingdom, but always failing due to the Mario brothers. However, after being imbued with godlike powers from the Dark Star, he instantly became a malicious beast, starting his reign of terror by killing his own children, Bowser Junior and the Koopalings, just seconds after being corrupted, and eating their mutilated remains.

Following this gruesome action, Bowser ordered all military in the Koopa Empire to be increased, and launched a surprise attack on Peach's Castle, where a ceremony held for the Mario brothers was being held. As his troops massacred countless innocent toads at the ceremony, one of which being Toadette, Mario and Luigi charged at Bowser's main airship to stop him. However, Bowser incinerated Luigi with his superpowered fire breath and brutally beat up Mario before shredding him with a propeller from the airship. As Peach was escorted from the bloodbath, Wario and Waluigi, who were trying to steal all the money in Peach's Castle, attempted to escape as well. However, a bullet bill was fired at them. Waluigi jumps in front of Wario as the bullet hits them, causing an explosion which heavily injures Wario and kills Waluigi.

Without anyone to stop him, Bowser managed to take over the entire world within one month of the attack, establishing the Koopa Empire and ruling over it with an iron fist. He also initiated the 'Fungal Razing', a large-scale genocide of toads across the world, as well anyone who opposed him, such as the Mushroom Resistance, a rebellion lead by Princess Daisy to overthrow the empire. Meanwhile, Wario would go underground and become a mercenary working against the empire.

Conflict with Wario and initial death[]

Nine months after the invasion, Princess Peach, who has been hiding with the Mushroom Resistance and is pregnant, gives birth to her and Mario's daughter Blossom, before dying soon afterwards. Seeing that Blossom could be a threat to his empire, Bowser orders his troops to attack the Mushroom Resistance's base and kill her. However, Wario intervenes and defeats the troops. Seeing his potential, Daisy recruits Wario as the caretaker of Blossom and tasks him with overthrowing the empire, to which he reluctantly agrees.

After discovering of this, Bowser orders his troops to kill Wario and Blossom. However, Wario defeats most them on his quest towards Bowser's Castle, with help from the resistance members, much to Bowser's frustration. To defeat Wario, Bowser reluctantly recruits Toad, who has now become a rogue assassin after due to Toadette's death. Toad fights Wario in an intense duel, during which Bowser's troops kidnap Blossom. After defeating Toad, Wario realizes this and heads straight towards Bowser's Castle.

After infiltrating the castle with the resistance's help, Wario finally makes it to Bowser's throne room, where he is holding Blossom prisoner in a cage, planning to eat her after killing Wario. He first sends Toad once again to kill Wario, only for Wario to defeat him once again. Upon this happening, Bowser betrays and tries to eat him, only for Wario to intervene, resulting in an epic showdown between them, during which Bowser's Castle is destroyed and Bowser uses his powers to become a titan. After a long battle, Wario defeats him and sends him falling into his own lava lake, burning him to death.

Following his death, the Koopa Empire collapses and is replaced by the New Mushroom Kingdom, ruled by Blossom, while Wario leaves the kingdom to unknown regions.

Resurrection and second death[]

Three years after his death, Bowser, who has now become a ghost, contacts his advisor Kamek, ordering him to resurrect him to his former glory. To do so, Kamek forms the New Koopa Army, an order of Bowser's troops dedicated to attacking areas of the world so as to obtain all five shards of the Dark Star and use it to revive Bowser. Wario, who has long since settled down as a lonely farmer, hears of this news and reluctantly comes out of retirement to stop them.

After defeating most of the army, Wario confronts Kamek, who has obtained four shards of the star and has arrived at the ruins of Bowser's Castle to collect the fifth. Despite being defeated by Wario, Kamek still takes the final shard and reforms the star, using it revive Bowser, who has now become Dry Bowser. However, Dry Bowser betrays and kills Kamek and reveals that he is going to destroy the world. He then battles with Wario, ending with Wario breaking the Dark Star, finally destroying Bowser for good.

Trivia[]
