Brokenstar is the secondary antagonist of the Rustclaw Warrior Cats AU by 芽糖Maltose. He is the leader of ShadowClan, who took in Rusty and made him into one of his right-hand warriors. He succeeded in driving out WindClan for a short time, and is now at war with ThunderClan's leader Tigerstar to take over the forest.
Appearance[]
Brokenstar is a large, pale brown tom with orange eyes and dark red pupils. He has jagged dark brown stripes covering his pelt, and his ears and nose are dark brown as well. His muzzle, underbelly, inner ears, and the bottom of his paws are light brown. His tail is Dark brown at the top, light brown at the bottom, and pale brown in the middle. His ears are somewhat torn up, and he has scars on his back, his front right leg, left thigh, and the base of his tail.

Let's Go[]
Out in the forest with no one watching, Brokenstar kills two young kittens, Mintkit and Marigoldkit. Later, while patrolling ShadowClan's territory, he and his deputy Blackfoot come across a wounded kittypet named Rusty. Impressed by how Rusty prepares to fight Blackfoot despite his injuries, he stops his deputy from attacking and decides to take the kittypet back to camp.
Rusty joins ShadowClan, but is only given menial tasks like picking ticks out of pelts and cleaning out dens. One day though, Brokenstar frames the Clan's medicine cat Yellowfang for murdering Mintkit and Marigoldkit. He gestures to Rusty to drive her out, and the former kittypet begins attacking Yellowfang, wounding her eye and chasing her across the Clan border.
A little wile later, Brokenstar tasks Rusty and a warrior by the name of Clawface with kidnapping kittens from ThunderClan to be raised as warriors for ShadowClan. They succeed, coming back with a litter of four: Cinderkit, Brackenkit, Brightkit and Thornkit. Brokenstar has a queen named Brightflower raise the four, and renames them Mintkit, Fernkit, Marigoldkit and Thistlekit, respectively. Seeing how the Clan praises Rusty for his success, Brokenstar approaches him and tears hir ragged collar off. he then makes him an official warrior apprentice, renaming him Rustpaw and assigning Blackfoot as his mentor.

A little while after Rustpaw's apprenticeship, Brokenstar gives him his final assessment, tasking him with catching prey. He comes back successful, so to reward him, Brokenstar makes Rustpaw a warrior, granting him the name Rustclaw. At the Gathering, The leader o WindClan, Tallstar, is still bitter at Brokenstar, as before Rustclaw came to the forest, ShadowClan had tried and failed to drive WindClan out to take over their territory. Brokenstar stares back at Tallstar unfearfully, then introduces Rustclaw as his newest warrior. This shocks ThunderClan's leader Bluestar, as she recognizes Rustclaw as the kittypet who had tried to join her Clan before one of her warriors, Longtail, injured him and drove him into ShadowClan territory.
Brokenstar later makes Minkit, Fernkit, Marigoldkit and Thistlekit into warrior apprentices three moons early, renaming them Mintpaw, Fernpaw, Marigoldpaw and Thistlepaw. He launches another raid to try driving out WindClan some time after, taking the four underage apprentices into the battle. This time, the attempt is successful and WindClan is driven out, allowing ShadowClan to take over the moorlands. However, three of the four apprentices are badly wounded from the battle, and Thistlepaw is dead. Brokenstar holds vigil for Thistlepaw alongside Blackfoot and Rustclaw, closing the apprentice's eyes and granting him the warrior name Thistlefur to honor him.
When hearing about WindClan's exile, Bluestar sends two of her warriors, Sandstorm and Dustpelt, to find and retrieve them. Meanwhile, Rustclaw's kittypet sister Princess reunites with him and gives him her son Cloud to be raised in ShadowClan. Brokenstar accepts Rustclaw's nephew into the Clan, renaming him Moldkit. Later still, at the next Gathering, the Clans find out that Bluestar has died, and her deputy Tigerclaw - now Tigerstar - is the new leader, with Longtail as his deputy. As both wish to take over the forest, Brokenstar and Tigerstar glare at each other from atop the Highrock, forming a rivalry.
