“ | Hope? Hope is what got you in this situation in the first place! Oh, I should warn you, by the way, the only thing that is keeping the air inside the school fresh are some air purifiers in the Physics room. Once you open those doors to the outside world, there will be no returning inside. The electricity will shut off and the school will be uninhabitable. You will all be forced to leave the school and be forced to enter the chaos outside which will surely only lead to more despair! So what are you even planning to do then? Just go out there and die? Is this the hope you have all decided on? | „ |

“ | Why? Why? Why will you not just give in to despair? | „ |
~ Cameron's last words and defeat. |
Cameron is the main antagonist of Heroi Oscura's Total Drama/Danganronpa crossover Total Danganronpa. He is a past winner of Total Drama who was invited to Hope's Peak Academy's Canadian Branch. After Junko Enoshima caused the Tragedy, he joined the Ultimate Despair and ran the Mutual High School Killing Game with Total Drama competitors.
Personality[]
Before going to Hope's Peak Academy, Cameron was a smart but naive bubble boy. He was very kind and loyal to all of those around him. Since his mother was overprotective, he was very weak and only wished to make new friends and experience new things.
However, this changes after Junko causes the Tragedy. Cameron ends up joining the Ultimate Despair and loses all of his previously heroic qualities. He is left as a cruel and sadistic individual who wanted nothing more then to drown the world into despair for his own enjoyment, even killing his old friends to cause more despair. He is willing to work with Junko, who highhandedly ruined the world, and even ends up taking his own life in order to cause despair to others.
Other than his new love for despair, Cameron does not really get any other characteristics. He is still shown to be incredibly intelligent, since he even creates an AI designed to act exactly like he would in almost any situation. However, he retains none of his other qualities, such as his naivety, kindness or friendships with the other campers.
Biography[]
Cameron's story begins the same way that it does in the canon Total Drama Island. He participates in Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, wins the season by beating Lightning in the finale and comes in 7th in Total Drama: All Stars. After the two seasons, he is invited to Hope's Peak Academy Canadian Division along with Noah and Dawn, who are the only Total Drama contestants to have actual talents. Cameron spent two years learning at Hope's Peak.
However, Junko Enoshima eventually decided to cause the most tragic, despair inducing event in the world, better known as the tragedy. When it happened, Cameron and Dawn decided to join Junko, becoming the Ultimate Despair. During the Tragedy, Chris McLean decides to bring 23 of his old Total Drama competitors into the Hope's Peak building, which has since been abandoned. Cameron and Dawn kill Chris McLean and forcefully inject the competitors with Radical-5, a virus that causes violence and would most likely lead to some murders. After erasing the other's memories of Cameron, Noah, Dawn and the Tragedy and erasing Dawn's memories altogether, Dawn and Noah are forced to join the Mutual High School Killing Game, run by Cameron as Monokuma.
When the 25 contestants arrive into the auditorium, Monokuma introduces the rules of the killing game, which state that in order to graduate, a contestant has to kill another person an get away with the crime in a class trial. Duncan tries to attack Monokuma, but Monokuma blows up and tells them that if any contestant attacks the headmaster again, that contestant will be killed.
That night, when Noah tries to enter his bathroom, it appears to be locked even though only the girls bathrooms have locks. Monokuma appears and tells him that he has to push on the knob and twist it. Later that night, Katie and Sadie trick Noah into leaving his room so they can plan an ambush. Sadie realizes that only one of them can escape, so she kills Katie and frames Noah. In the morning, Monokuma announces that they will have a class trial to find the killer, but Lightning snaps and tries to attack Monokuma. This leads to Monokuma killing Lightning using the Gungnir Spears. During the class trial, Sadie is found guilty, and Monokuma executes her by having her ripped apart by wild animals in Lost In The Woods. Monokuma then opens more of the school to the rest of the competitors.
As the game continues, more people start to either kill, or be killed. First, Anne Maria snaps and kills Zoey. When she is proven guilty, she is executed by being dropped into lava in A Jersey Party. Later, Trent infects Cody with Radical-5, causing him to kill himself and Sierra. He is executed by having his head blown up in Rock My Brians Out, Baby. After Trent's murder, Monokuma provides a motive for the others to kill, that being the reveal of a personal secret. Courtney's secret is that she still cares for Duncan, so to prove to herself that she doesn't, she gets Scott's help in killing him. Scott sees the secret, and in a fit of rage, he accidentally kills Courtney. Scott gets found guilty and is executed by being eaten by sharks in Shark Tank Trapeze.
Later, Chris announces that the next incentive to kill is 1000000. Heather and Alejandro plan to kill DJ and Izzy to escape and get the money. They make a fake riddle and claim in Monokuma's name that whoever solves it can leave without killing. They end up killing DJ and Izzy, but are caught and killed in self defence by Sam and Bridgette. During the trial, Monokuma admits to not actually writing the riddle, but when Bridgette and Sam are found out, he says that if they don't get the same amount of votes, only 1 will be executed. However, they both get one vote, so they are executed. Bridgette gets sliced into pieces in Vegetarian Sushi and Sam gets shot and eaten by a giant Monokuma in Super Sam Bros. However, the competitors manage to get some info on the Ultimate Despair, Cameron, and his possible role in the killing game.
The next day, Monokuma reveals that there is a traitor among them and if they kill the traitor, they get to leave without a trial. It is later shown to be Mike, or more specifically, Mal. Mike ends up committing suicide in order to prevent any more conflict. Monokuma sadistically admits that even if they killed Mike, he would just say that they didn't kill Mal and therefore, they don't get to leave. Despite Monokuma trying to get one of the competitors (in particular, Gwen) executed, they manage to vote correctly and find out that Mike killed himself. Since none of the competitors get executed, Monokuma kills Alter Gwen in FrankenGwen. Right after the execution, Noah taunts Monokuma over the fact that he couldn't get Gwen killed, and Junko (the organizer of the Japanese killing game) joins forces with Cameron (who is running the Canadian killing game) to get rid of Noah once and for all.
The next day, Cameron and Junko begin to put their plan into motion. First, Cameron creates an AI that can completely replicate his behaviour in almost any situation. Then, he records a video of him begging for help and sets a time for it to be uploaded on the intercom. Finally, he commits suicide by taking a lethal poison. Monokuma (who is now Junko, not Cameron) then makes the suicide look like Cameron was killed by Noah. Monokuma tries to execute Noah, but Alter Gwen saves him. When Noah returns and asks for a trial for the death of Chris, Monokuma agrees.
A little while into the trial, Monokuma decides to reveal Alter Cameron, the AI that Cameron created. Alter Cameron reveals the outside world to the competitors, and taunts them over the fact that everyone they know is probably dead. He then mentions that if the other competitors want, they could kill Noah and stay in the school. While at first they agree, Noah manages to convince the competitors not to give up hope and instead go against Alter Cameron and Monokuma. This causes Alter Cameron to glitch out until later in the case. When Dawn agrees to be executed instead of Noah so they can leave, Alter Cameron makes a last ditch effort to cause the competitors to fall into despair by saying that they are sacrificing her and are selfish. However, the competitors deny that claim, saying that they will remember her as the forgotten hope. After the trial is concluded, Alter Cameron is executed and destroyed along with Dawn.
Trivia[]
- Despite him being the main antagonist of Total Danganronpa, he can be considered just one of Junko Enoshima's pawns, making him have much less of a presence overall. In the end, even Monokuma acknowledges that he didn't end up succeeding with much in the long run.
