~ Caprin's statement to Zeth before dropping him from a skyscraper. |
Caprin is the secondary antagonist of Insinmind, he is a member of the Insindao with an enigmatic identity, who challenges Zeth Drastic's strength, and seeks to oppose the creator Awake, for viewing him as a sadist.
His intended voice is Matthew Tompkins, who voiced Yujiro Hanma from Baki the Grappler.
Role Descriptions[]
He is the overarching antagonist alongside with Eogo in the Pilot Chapter, as he and Eogo have major key events in the background of the short story, which would also make him the unseen overarching antagonist of the Past time period in Afternoon Solipsism. He is the secondary antagonist of the present time period in Afternoon Solipsism, with Elargarious as the main antagonist, because of Elargarious having the biggest goal attempt, but has too much of an involved importance with Elargarious in the rest of arc to have any lower role and was initially by the first eight chapters up until the last to be listed as a Major antagonist in Baal Zion, until it was revealed that he was the mastermind behind the events of novel's plot, getting him classified as the Main Antagonist, though is technically treated as a tritagonist, given how his goal in the novel is about saving the world and how the screentime is handled with the villains.
History[]
Not much is known about Caprin's past on why he has close ties with the Insindao, but there are many instances on implying his importance being seen as a representation of the animals next to the Goat (Eogo), Ox (Savage), Rabbit, and Crow/Dove (Innercist), being about Them, Us, Why, giving clues that them him and the other animals are setting the events in motion, with him overseeing the events play out in some way. In the modern time period, Caprin is asked by Elargarious in a bet on if Elargarious beats, he'll rule all of the land, but if Elargarious fails, he dies. Caprin agrees and sometime after, he battles and overwhelms Zeth with his might as a means to test his potential skills, with Lincent's son David coming to fight him. The battle between Caprin and David is near equal, demonstrating tons of beyond universal powers and abilities at their disposal, ultimately ending in a tie. As Caprin gets back on his feet, he sees Elargarious all mutilated from his fight against Zeth, and is because of his failure, Caprin kills him and flies to the moon.
Going inside the moon, Caprin witnesses an entity known as the Eyeball Minion who tries to kill him with its energy but is overpowered by Caprin and taken to Baxter Drastic for some research. Afterwards Caprin goes back up into the sky to save the world from being assimilated from the comet of Zion.
Appearance[]
Caprin is a 7'9 anthropomorphic bat with large ears and red eyes. His style features can range from a more simplistic design that has a pink nose, to a fierce facial canine look with a black nose.
Personality[]
Caprin can best be described as someone who has some meticulous choosing on how he wants to present his dialogue, typically more into speaking with one-liners than sentences, and being clear cut on what he wants to get done. His view on Awake is similar to Bible stories where followers of God endure painful hardships and sacrifices in following the sovereign creator, with what his statements are in viewing it as a cruel joke. He tends to like to challenge people who are weaker them, as be with the case with Zeth and Sebastian (Though Sebastian may have had some advantages to face him than what Zeth had.) and Caprin intends to like seeing how good his fighters can bring onto him before finishing them off.
Trivia[]
- Caprin is similar to Yujiro by one aspect being how they like to test the protagonist's strength, pushing the main characters to the near-death edge of surviving them, though it's unclear as to why Caprin does this to Zeth.
