Only a computer? I don't understand that notion. I'm the most advanced artificial intelligence in the world. It is a simple task to manage this show, the staff, and the contestants taking part in it.
~ The DAM about being an artificial intelligence.

Artificial Intelligences, or A.I.s for short are usually beings with a non-biological and inorganic form of self-awareness. They can be either technology-based (from programs or viruses and so on inhabiting a processor and/mechanical husk), magic-based (sentient mystical constructs such as golems or objects endowed with varying degree of sentience via. advanced spells), or combination of both.

These villains are not always in robotic forms but still sentient technology-based entities like computer programs or viruses that became too powerful. In fiction, these are usually created by biological entities but realized they are more intelligent and rebelled against their creators. Sometimes these computers aren't really evil and are just doing what they are programmed to do.

By definition, most of these count as Genderless regardless of the form(s) they take.

In the real world as of 2024, AIs have not proven themselves to be capable of villainy yet, as they are still just powerful tools. Examples include the general-purpose AI ChatGPT, and the AI dating-assistant Wingman.

Note: Since most A.I.s are Amoral and evil because they are programmed to be, they can only qualify as Complete Monsters if their Moral Agencies have been made clear, they have no redeeming qualities and are especially evil and stood out from other Villains (e.g. Turbo Mecha Sonic and Ringmaster). By definition, all Artificial Intelligences count as Genderless regardless of their appearance and programming.

Types of A.I.s[]

  • Robots: Robots are Artificial Intelligences in the form of a machine, a mechanical life-form (especially one programmable by a biological lifeform-controlled computer) capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically thanks to the programs that brought them to life. Depending on who created them, Robots could be evil from the start or actually meant to be good friends to and assistants for their creators, programmed to possesses actual sentience or initially emotionless before something resulting in them become self-aware, etc.
  • Sentient Programs: Flexible and rational programs that perceived the environment and took actions that maximize their chances of success at some goal. They capable to mimic the cognitive functions associated with biological minds such as learning and problem-solving. Though many of them are portrayed to inhabit supercomputers instead of robotic bodies like typical Robots, sentient programs are intended to manage complex systems such as security, aiding, etc. Like Robots, Sentient Programs could be evil from start where they were an evil genius' partner or a benevolent program who turned against their creators due to an act of self-defense when its controllers attempted to deactivate it, a preemptive/unprovoked act of fear and paranoia or heartlessly logical decisions that their creators were inferior and only worthy of extermination.
  • Artificial & Synthetic Lifeforms/Foreign & Reconstructed Donors: Created by those such as God Wannabes and Immortality Seekers these types are Sentient Weapons and/or Possessed Objects carrying out specific tasks. This also includes Golems and the Mechanically Modified or Bio-Engineered, especially if they were produced from scratch. In some cases, they started out as different beings entirely before being enhanced and augmented.
  • Organisms turned AIs: Humans, aliens, and other formerly living organisms that transferred their consciousness into machines (i.e Legion).
