Gabe: I think I know what's going on. You remember how the Tape Girl said that they scanned circuit boards taken from some animatronic remains into the game? I think that, because of that Remnant stuff that we blew up earlier, some piece of William Afton's soul ended up in that game. And because it was from Springtrap, that piece of soul took on the form of Spring Bonnie.
Cassidy: Are you calling Glitchtrap a Horcrux? Like from Harry Potter?
Gabe: That's actually a great comparison. Specifically the Diary Horcrux. Although I don't think this Glitchtrap thing is all that connected to the main William Afton that's burning in Hell right now. But either way, I don't think it matters for how dangerous that thing is.
~ Gabe and Cassidy deduce the true nature of Glitchtrap's existence as William Afton's soul fragment given form

Fragmental Villains are embodiments, fractions or parts of individual or Multi-Beings. These fissions are usually made when the original characters are physically divided. Fragments of those same entities turn out to be villains themselves or different beings entirely, but this isn't always the case.

NOTE: Do not necessarily confuse them with Dissociative villains and/or Alter-Egos as the key difference is them normally remaining in completely whole bodies yet having broken and fractured minds while Fragmentals take this to the next level and have separate bodies for the alternate selves. (However, the two are indeed a lesser subtype of Fragmentals below a much higher plane of existence.)
