Fungus! Thanks to you, I'm all out of decent henchmen, so now I'm forced to use a Goomba to guard the last Starsphere. A GOOMBA FOR PETE'S SAKE! Meh, do your thing, useless
~ Kamek before powering-up a Goomba and sending it to fight Toad.
Did you just call them stupid heads? Wow, you really are a child. Your grandfather would’ve said “SEE YOU IN [beep] YOU [beep] SUCKING [beep]!” Ah [beep], I left the maturity filter on the microphone.
~ Sir Benedict Cumbersnatch criticising Auri’s immature insults.
LMAO. IT TOOK YOᑌ TᕼᗩT ᒪOᑎG TO ᖴIᑎᗪ OᑌT?
~ The DArkn∊∬ showcasing its constant usage of Internet slang to Hector.

Laughably Evil Villains are villains that are generally funny, perhaps because they're incompetent idiots, or simply because of how they look (for example, it's pretty common for clown-themed villains to be Laughably Evil). Their polar opposites are Seriously Good heroes.

IMPORTANT: While Laughably Evil villains usually can't be Complete Monsters or Near Pure Evils due to being too comedic, they CAN count if they are funny to the audience but are taken seriously in-universe, with their funny nature perhaps being used to show what kind of psychopaths they are.

Laughably Evil villains are also not usually Game Changers, but some exceptions can qualify if they still at least darken the mood to the story (e.g. Francis, Sir Benedict Cumbersnatch and The Chief).

It is also uncommon for them to overlap with Hate Sinks, as those are usually not supposed to be that entertaining. However, it is still possible for them to overlap if:

  • They are designed to be despised but frequently come off as genuinely funny. (e.g. THOUGHT).
  • They guise their true loathsome colors under a comical persona. (e.g. Carlo Luciano and Sith Cynical)
  • They initially start off as laughable or ridiculous, but slowly become darker as the story goes on or vice-versa (e.g. Awesamdude, Francis, and Tails).
  • They are dissociative villains who have a personality with comical traits and a personality with more detestable traits.
  • They are ensemble villains who are laughable in one role and more vile in another. (e.g Danyell Radcliff)

Please note that just because a loathsome villain is presented comedically on one small occasion, does not mean they are Laughably Evil (e.g. Hit The Target). Likewise, just because a comical villain briefly loses their comedic traits, does not mean they are immediately a Hate Sink (e.g. SMG3 and Sir Benedict Cumbersnatch). Hate Sink and Laughably Evil crossovers must have a significant amount of both hateable and humorous traits.

However, like with Hate Sinks, it is not necessary for every villain to be this, as some can be somewhere in-between (e.g. Niles, SpongeBob SquarePants and Cell) where audiences can make up their own opinions.

This also applies to villains who have comedic moments, but come from an already comedic setting.
