What?! This isn't a hat, you psychopath! That's Pablo… He was my brother, and you killed him in cold blood!
~ Caterpie to Charmander and Bulbasaur.
This is for Pablo!
~ The Caterpie Leaders moral event horizon by killing Charmander

Caterpie Leader is the main antagonist of the Starter Squad YouTube series. After their brother was killed by Charmander, they started to do anything in their power to kill him and his friends.

While their goal is somewhat understandable, they became less sympathethic while the story progressed as they kept using extreme methods and crimes to achieve their goal. In Episode 10 they showed their true colours and their true plan, which is exterminating all the predator species due to their extreme hatred towards them.

Personality[]

Caterpie is pretty calm most of the times, even when their counterparts are dead. they remains polite while talking to the others and never uses insults but they can also say obscure things to scare Charmander.

They dedicates their whole life to having revenge on Charmander and will do anything to defeat him, even if that means sacrificing multiple lives, hiring villains, forcing others in dangerous situations or even hurting Charmander's friends.

They were very friendly to Squirtle even through he was Charmander's friend and actually made a deal with him instead of forcing him to fight, but in the 9th Episode (The Lizard Slayer), they broke the deal of not killing Charmander as long as he is captured and murdered Charmander, showing that they can also lie in order to achieve her goals.

For some reason, Caterpie Leader gets offended when someone asks if they are a girl or a boy.

Despite pretending to be righteous leader, they turned out to be a genocidal psychopath who is not above sacrificing countless lives of her own soldiers only to fullfill her bloodthirsty intentions. She even went as far as to order an execution of her own soldier when he turned against them.

Ultimately, they turned out to be a complete hypocrite considering she hated Charmander for killing dozens of Caterpies while she went way further than anything he's ever done or even planned to do. Also, while Charmander cared about his friends (especially Squirtle), she only pretended to care about her friends so they can manipulate them the whole time. Their deep hatred towards predators lead her to sacrifice the lives of every single Caterpie from her army and even Whiskers, one of her most loyal subjects. When one of their own soldiers pointed out how many Caterpies has she lead to death, she replied that she only cares about predators getting killed no matter the cost. they are also extremely cowardly as she barely ever participated in any fight but only commanded her army from the safe distance instead.

Although they started out as a somewhat tragic villain who only wanted to avenge her brother's death and protect her subjects from danger, they turned out to be the most evil character in the series, ironically even way worse than Charmander, who killed her brother and dozens of her subjects in the first place.

However, she turned out to be somewhat insecure when she lost her whole army and even felt slight remorse for leading to the extinction of her own species. But their remorse is too little, too late.

History[]

Charmander and Bulbasaur end up finding a random Caterpie, and Charmander murders him in order to get exp. Bulbasaur wears his head as a hat but Charmander throws it away.

Later Charmander and Bulbasaur are knocked out by a group of Caterpies in the forest. Both wake up tied to a tree and in front of the Caterpies. Charmander asks who they are and Caterpie Leader shows him the dead Caterpie head and states that was his brother Pablo. Charmander states he killed it in self-defense and kills a random Caterpie by throwing fire from his mouth, but the Caterpies shut his mouth by using string shot.

The Caterpies then start talking about how they will torture and wear their body parts as clothes. Squirtle sees that Charmander and Bulbasaur are in danger and goes to help them, rolls, knocks out the Caterpies and frees Charmander and Bulbasaur from the string. The Caterpies then run away while Charmander kills some of them. Caterpie Leader, spying from afar, states she will get her revenge someday, and gets randomly caught by a Pidgeotto, but somehow survives.

Later Caterpie Leader hires a Weedle to poison and kill Charmander, but when Weedle is in action, he accidentally poisons Bulbasaur instead (which is already a posion type and therefore the poison just drugs him) and gets killed by the Pidgeotto.

Later Caterpie forces a Nidoran to fight, and succesfully poisons both Charmander and Bulbasaur, and kidnaps Squirtle and flies away to her underground base with a Butterfree. In the underground, Caterpie Leader convinces Squirtle to be part of her army and nicknames him "Bluey". Squirtle questions if they are a boy or a girl and she tells Whiskers (the Nidoran) to poison him.

In the 8th episode, Charmander goes to underground base and kills lots of Caterpies, and when he is about to murder Nidoran, Squirtle knocks him out, explains his disappointment as he tried to redeem him but then realized it is impossible after seeing him take out so many innocent lives and keeps torturing him with water moves. Squirtle then states the Caterpie Leader will let him live as long as he stays in the Ultra Ball and becomes a Caterpie Counterpart, but Caterpie Leader breaks his promise and menacingly approaches Charmander leaving his fate ambiguous.

In Episode 10 (The Legend of the Blue Shell Man Guy), we see Caterpie Leader only in Squirtle's flashbacks. First we see her training Squirtle and congratulates him when he cheats in a fight, and brutally murdering and mutilating his opponent. We also see she's wearing Charmander's head as a hat, confirming his death in Episode 9. Then we see her commanding her army at the end of a battle. After the last few surviving enemies retreat, one of the soldiers talks to her about how many Caterpies died in the battle. She replies by saying it doesn't matter because there were even more dead enemies so the sacrifice of her fallen soldiers was worth it. The soldier calls her out for destroying both predator species and her own species, and then he decides to desert. She reminds him of the death punishment for deserters, but he replies he doesn't care so she orders Whiskers to kill him. Whiskers refuses because the soldier was her friends so Caterpie Leader orders Squirtle to kill him instead. He executes her order without hesitation which briefly shocks Whiskers. Finally, we see her after losing her whole army, including Whiskers. they are panicking and begging Squirtle to help her somehow. When she realizes she can't fix anything she's done, she decides to set him free before she heads in the unknown direction. What happened to her afterwards isn't confirmed, but she was either killed by someone (most likely one of the surviving predators) as a revenge for her atrocities or she managed to survive as the last living member of her species until her natural death.
