Catra, Also Known As Mega Air-Razor, is one of the ten central antagonists (Alongside Lord Hordak/Inevitable Lord Hordak, Shadow Weaver/Nightmare Weaver, Scorpia/Blood Moon Scrapzer, Double Trouble/Neon Chameleon, Gigan, Vexus/Night Strike, Smytus/Fire Smytus, Skeleton King/Nightmare Skeleton and Evil Lyn/Sparkle-Scream) of the she ra superheroes cinematic universe! She serves as one of the main antagonists of "She-Ra Superheroes: The Ultimate Knight's Origin" and might be a supporting antagonist in its sequel, "She-Ra Superheroes 2: A villain Strikes Back".
She was formerly a citizen of Velvicon city and a friend of adora until she, scorpia, double trouble, shadow weaver and melog defected over to the Liquoer Tower to become predacons upon being banished by Sentinel Rex for siding with Horde Prime to destroy the whole city! She is also the Force-Captain of Lord Hordak's Evil League of Supervillains, "The Mega-Horde". She is the Arch-Enemy of Super Glimmer.
Catra was Adora's childhood best friend and is obsessed with her, as she claims to have feelings for Adora, but long before the first movie, Catra felt hurt and betrayed when Adora and her friends cast her, scorpia, double trouble, melog and shadow weaver for their bad behaviour. She is Adora's ex-best friend-turned-sworn enemy during the war throughout the whole franchise.
She is voiced by AJ Michalka.
Appearance[]
Catra is a slender, tan-skinned girl of feline origins with athlete body physics. She has angular features, such as a pointed chin, straight nose, and slanted almond-shaped, heterochromatic eyes in the shades pale yellow (Left) and turquoise (Right). She features three freckles on her cheeks, soft curving dark eyebrows, and a thin fiendish smile with fanged teeth.
Due to her feline display and ancestry, she is depicted as a young woman with sharp claws on her hands and toes, small fangs, large, black, catlike ears, and horizontal markings on her arms and three on her back that resemble a tabby cat's stripes. She also sports wild, slicked back, spiked, grayish-brown hair held back behind a cat-inspired reddish-brown headpiece.
She wears a two-toned orange leotard tank top over torn reddish-violet leggings that wrap around the foot, exposing her toes and heels. Additionally, she's seen in two belts, the thicker of the pair sporting the Horde symbol, and, as the franchise progresses, we see her sport the Force Captain pin on her shirt over her heart.
At the time she became a supervillain after a striking a deal with Galvatron, Catra wore a dark purple leotard, light purple sleeves and violet wings, a Purple Tiara, a Purple mask over her eyes, light purple pants and purple boots with wings on them.
Personality[]
Catra is a fairly teasing, irritable, cynical, disrespectful, stubborn, provocative and violent person. Although she got along with her best friend Adora before she was cast out for her bad behaviour, Catra because of her aggressive and violent nature never seemed to be able to be friends with anyone else even at an early age. As a result she was a lonely person In her childhood. Even if she enjoyed the company of Adora with whom she spent time having fun.
Because of her rebellious personality, and her tendency to cause others harm, she was frequently admonished and punished by Shadow Weaver as she puts her in timeout. Due to her selfishness, Catra developed a feeling of inferiority because she believed she was living in Adora’s shadow, and that would later make her a more selfish and power-hungry person that always needs to prove herself to be the best. She also frequently shift-blames and scapegoats others for her faults and actions, never taking responsibility for any of her shortcomings or misdeeds.
As Force Captain, Catra remains largely focused on the success of the Mega-Horde. It gets worse as her rank increases, Velcro-Viper even notes that Catra takes the war against the great super rebellion too seriously. After she lost her friendship with Adora, Catra suffered a psychological breakdown and gains a slight mental instability. In the end, her all-consuming despair was finally shattered when she realised the perfect source for her revenge against the rebellion. All of this left Catra to the point where she welcomes her new ambitions and encouraged herself to sign a new letter of evil.
Following the total failure of her conquest of Velvicon City within the Thirteen Primes and the Auto-Bugs destroying her psychologically, Catra begins to question herself to the point of doubting her life choices. She also attempts to reconcile with Jacob Scrap due to their similarity in backstory of becoming an out cast. Catra struggled to fit in with Jacob's group, known as the Nega-Scrap Dark Rebellion, acting in her typically anti-social ways even when The Dry-Borgs wanted to help her, wanting to be left alone, stating that everyone hates her and calling Adora an idiot for casting her out. Catra then decides to work with Jacob Scrap to conquer the universe and overthrow the rebellion and the youtube squad, hence setting up a plan to dethrone Adora and take her place as the ruler of Velvicon City.
From there, Catra went on to having a new serious personality of following Jacob Scrap and Horde Prime's Instructions but retained a certain vanity and a bit of her pessimism. Unlike some of her teammates, Catra had a slightly more level head, as proven when she pointed out her plan to rid The entire universe of The Rebellion and their allies. She was not happy to see Adora and her friends again due to their long bitterness towards her and henceforth, decided to wage war against her.
Trivia[]
- Catra appearance in the she ra superhroes franchise is very different from her original design from She-ra and the princesses of power. In this case, She retains her typical tiara, only it now allows her to turn into a purple Spinosaurus.
- Unlike her Original Counterpart, she no longer dislikes water.
