But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace-sobriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox-populi, now vacant; vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very-good honour to meet you and you may call me... THE CAVALIER.
~ Cavalier introducing himself to the Hazbin Hotel crew and the I.M.P. crew, when the two gangs intrude the villains' base and enter the ExtraTERRORrestrial Demon's area; also, his most-famous dialogue.

Cavalier

Cavalier is a minor (yet rememberable) antagonist in the Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss crossover episode. He is an ExtraTERRORrestrial Demon from regions beyond Hell. In the episode, he guards the ExtraTERRORrestrial Demons section the base from the protagonists; they do break-in, resulting in the death of the Mercenary Mafians and the burning-down of the base. In the end, Cavalier (along with Reaper, Dollmaker, Uncle Stranger and Dealer) perish when the floor underneath them collapses due to pressure. He was voiced by Hugo Weaving (famous for portraying the antihero V in the 2005 film called V For Vendetta), who also voiced Malfoy in the same episode and Carl Grimsby in the Helluva Boss TV-show episode called, 'Get Grimsby!'.

The Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss crossover episode[]

Cavalier is first seen in the bar, where he is walking around. He eavesdrops on an intoxicated Imperceptible Demon asking Lincoln March for some Stella Artois; the sword-wielding demon tells the imp that he is too drunk to drink any more alcohol; the response is that he gets called a 'posh tw*t' by the imp. When the bottle of alcohol arrives via Red Hooded Demon, Creeper steals it from him and whacks Grotesque on the head with it; a fight occurs between the two. Imperceptible Demon gets startled and asks where Dusty Bin is, making Cavalier wonder how the imp knows about it (to which the imp shrugs his shoulders at).

Later on, when the heroes invade the base, they enter the ExtraTERRORrestrial area; Cavalier and others (the ones who were ordered to remain so the base was secure) were waiting to ambush them. After a long introduction, he ordered the demons to attack the heroes and a fight occurs; this resulted in a defeat for the villains (all hurt badly) so that the heroes flee to find Landa and the Mercenary Mafians (as well as the other groups who were situated in the base). Copperhead checked on them and criticised Cavalier by calling him a 'useless c*nt'; the sword-wielding demon timidly thanked him.

When the base was on fire (thanks to Charlie and Blitz), Cavalier perished when a part of the base-floor collapsed; it also killed Reaper, Dollmaker, Uncle Stranger and Dealer. Afterwards, the base exploded and killed all villains within it.

Trivia[]

  • As Hugo Weaving is British, it made sense for all his villains (especially Cavalier) to be British-based. However, Weaving was actually born in Ibadan in Nigeria and not Great Britain.
  • The character was originally supposed to be voiced by Tom Hiddleston, but Kellan Goff (the casting-director) forgot to contact him by the time Hugo Weaving came to audition. Hiddleston would later end-up voicing Soul Archer and Blista in the same episode.
  • Imperceptible Demon has a line where he says, 'WHERE'S DUSTY BIN?!', to which Bryson Baugus (who, as the voice of Imperceptible Demon, ad-libbed the quote) thought was hilarious. The line refers to the character from the British game-show called 3-2-1 (named after trains that were nicknamed 'Dusty Bins'; the line itself came from British comedian Jim Bowen's 2004 live-show, You Can't Tell These Anymore (to which Bryson Baugus has apparently seen, due to him including the line into the script). Coincidentally, Cavalier asks how the imp-demon knew about the character's existence; this is because Hugo Weaving, Cavalier's voice-actor, is actually British (but born in Nigeria) and didn't realise that Bryson Baugus, an American, knew it (therefore making his response to the imp ad-libbed).
  • Cavalier was based on the DC Comic-books character with the exact-same name.
