Cecil Burns, also known later on as The Scarecrow, is a major antagonist of the 2020 thriller / horror fanfilm Royal Jane. He was the mean, strict and disrespectful assistant of Principal Bob Caine who operated ruthlessly behind his boss' back. However, as the story progresses, he gets controlled by Tom Darnel and Kenny Walls via hypnosis by a clock.

He is portrayed by Mark Strong.

History[]

He at first teaches Butch Marston a lesson, as he runs after him with a stick after Butch swore at him. He eventually gets hypnotized by Butch under Tom and Kenny's orders, as the mad school teacher was asked to dress up like Batman's Scarecrow and then act like him. When the orphans gather around Jane Carter while Tom reveals his true nature, it is mentioned that the other inhabitats were just tools for The King of Orphans. After Jane ran out of the room, Tom betrayed the other orphans by letting The Scarecrow enter the room and kill everyone. However, Cecil then regained his morals along with his sanity as he then chased after Tom. Tom was eventually eaten by The Scarecrow, who collapsed out of being ashamed of what he has done.

After he and Tom both died, Jane exited the orphanage and what happens to her next remains unknown.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, he was going to be the main antagonist of the movie, as he would have employed Kenny Walls as the King of Orphans and have them all killed later.
  • Despite being a major villain (as well as the final antagonist to die near the end), he had quite a minor role. However, since his impact on Jane's life is very important, he still counts as one of the film's greatest villains.
