Biography[]
Backstory[]
Cell's past before the events of the series remain a mystery. For unknown reasons, he was arrested and sent to Alcatraz, one of the world's most secure prisons. At some point in his life, he became the leader of a gang called the Rayquaza. He would also get to work in the prison's kitchen, which gave him the ability to obtain a knife, and through unknown means, a fake cellphone as well, with him getting his nickname because of the latter.
Sometime after this, Cell would use the cellphone to blackmail one of the prison's guards named Felps and force him to do dirty work for him by threatening his family. Cell also got into the bad side of JV because of the former causing the deaths of several of the latter's friends, which lead to both of them showing disdain towards each other.
Impossible Escape[]
In the day after Pac and Mike arrive in Alcatraz, Cell would meet with them and told Pac and Mike that he would protect them. He would then explain how the prison worked, such as showing them a room where the code that could get someone out of prison, before bringing them to its cafeteria. At one of the cafeteria's tables, he told them about his contacts on the outside of the prison and the types of works they can have in the prison, which can give them some advantages they can get from them, with Cell showing them his knife as an example.
Later, Cell tells them that they should work with him and not to trust JV, before threatening them and ending his conversation with them. Sometimes after this, Cell went to Pac and Mike's cell and gave them money, and when asked what he wanted in return, he told them that they must not break his trust on them. A few days after this, JV would be freed from solitary and Pac and Mike would talk to him.
They would then go to the cafeteria, where Pac and Mike would talk to them about Cell, whom they think is a friend, before the same appears, and after noticing JV, would ask Pac and Mike why they were talking with him despite him specifically telling them not to. JV then asks Cell if he's also trying to trick Pac and Mike and have him do things for him.
Pac then explains why they were talking with JV, with Cell then leaving and telling them that choosing to be with JV was their decision. While Pac and Mike originally questioned why he was telling them not to trust Cell, after JV told them about how Cell got several of his friends killed, they decide that it was better to trust JV than him. JV then talked with David, the warden of Alcatraz, so he could give Pac and Mike a job in the mines, as they needed a pickaxe so they could accomplish JV's plan to escape the prison through its sewers.
After they discussed the plan, Pac and Mike would go back to their cell, where they find Cell using the washstand, before turning to them and telling them to keep their hands clean after they lied about what they talked with JV, with him leaving the cellblock after this, but not before giving Mike a ear that he cut off from a prisoner as a threat to both him and Mike.
After getting the job in the mines and stealing a pickaxe, Cell would send Felps, the guard he blackmails, to search Pac and Mike's cell so they wouldn't try to escape, although due to Mike giving the pickaxe to JV before he could search them, Felps failed to find anything. After Felps told him about not finding anything, Cell was furious and threatened him with his cellphone so he could keep an eye on Pac and Mike.
The next day, JV would inform them that the guard that searched their Cell worked for Cell, and they decided that they would need to talk with him since Cell was aware of their attempt to escape and could put the plan at risk. They would then go to Cell's cell, where he told them that if they didn't tell him about their plan to escape, he would inform all the guards in the prison about it.
Understanding that he couldn't lie to him, JV lied to Cell about their plan by saying that he would take part in it and that they were going to escape the next day, when in reality JV was planning to leave the prison with Pac and Mike that night. Cell found out about this, and while trying to cover the wall of Pac and Mike's cell with a poster after he broke through it, Cell murdered JV.
After this, he demanded Pac and Mike to tell them all the details about their plan, with them telling him that JV said that there were three minecarts that they were going to use to escape, with Cell finding them and using one of them so he could leave the prison while sending the other two away out of spite against Mike and Pac. However, the minecart didn't end up outside of the prison, which lead to the guards finding Cell trying to escape.
While Cell tried to fight off the guards, even being mentioned that he killed several of them, they were able to capture him. While on the way to the prison's solitary, Cell went through Mike and Pac's cell, and started yelled how they were now on the palm of his hand. The next day, Pac and Mike would meet with another prisoner called Guaxinim, who JV told them about in a letter that they found in his body while burring him, which said that he would protect them from Cell.
Quaxinim decided to help protect Pac and Mike after they offered to get him in their plan to escape Alcatraz if he did. They would then confront Cell, whom mocked Guaxinim for trying to protect them, before yelling at them that they wouldn't escape from the prison. It's then revealed that he bribed a guard, who got him out of solitary right after this.
Cell then told the trio that if he didn't know even one detail about their escape plan, he would kill them. Understanding that they needed to find a way to stop Cell from interfering with their plan, the trio decided to try and find Cell's phone so they could take his power in the prison away from him, since they knew that with the cellphone any prisoner would be afraid of facing Cell.
After getting to Cell's cell, they are able to get the cellphone, with Cell appearing after right after grabbing it. Right as Cell was preparing to kill them, Guaxinim finds out that Cell's phone has no signal, and tells Pac and Mike that if Cell hurts him they'd yell about the phone being fake so everyone could hear. Understanding that this could get him in danger, Cell decided not to kill them, but still kept his threat to stop them fro leaving the prison without him.
Because he knew that the trio would likely tell someone about his phone, Cell went to Pac and Mike's cell and hid behind the sewers next to it, where he was able to bring Pac to and threatened to kill him if he told anyone the phone was fake. After getting the threat clear, Cell left the place. After this, Mike told Pac about a gang called Rayquaza, which he thought could help protecting them from Cell.
Unaware that it was Cell's gang, Pac and Mike gave Cell's money to one of its members, who would then inform Cell about their attempt to bribe him. He would then confront them, and said that he would kill them if he got tricked by them again. Right after this, a rival gang appeared, with its leader saying that he would kill Cell. Cell then told him that if he tried to do anything with the trio, he would castrate him.
After the rival gang left, Cell told the trio that he would change his cell to the one right next to Pac and Mike's in order to stop them from trying to escape without him, with him planning to also force Guaxinim to sleep with him on the same cell with that goal in mind. Knowing that they had no chance of dealing with him in any other way, the trio decide to make a plan to try to talk with Felps about Cell's phone being fake, which would end all the advantages he has against them.
However, right as they were preparing to talk to Felps, Cell announced that there was going to be a fight between his and the rival gang. While going to the place where they would fight, Cell found Felps and after he told him that Pac and Mike wanted to talk to him, Cell understood he needed to kill him, so he did and took Felps' pistol. After this, the fight between the gangs started and it ended in several prisoners getting killed and a riot starting.
During the riot Cell would kill a few members of the rival gang, before taunting its leader and killing him as well. While bragging about being invincible, Cell noticed Pac, Mike and Guaxinim, who run away after he started yelling at them. Guaxinim then told Pac and Mike about JV's real plan, which was to use the sewers to get to a boat that he and Guaxinim built together and leave with them.
After getting to the sewers and arriving on the boat, Cell appeared and pointed his pistol at them, forcing them to bring him with them on the boat. However, while they were passing through the middle of the ocean, the boat started to sink, as it had too much weight due to Cell being there with the trio as the boat was made for only three people.
However, they are able to get into an island close to where they were. There, Cell decided to hide in there with the trio, knowing that he needed their help so he could escape. While Guaxinim was fixing the boat, the group tried to survive their time in the island, as Guaxinim would need two days so they could be able to get out of the island. During the first night on the island, Guaxinim told Pac and Mike about there only being three spots on the boat, with Cell overhearing it and telling them that they would have the trio choose which of them would get left behind.
The first day at dawn, the trio finds out that Cell's pistol only has one bullet, although they were still too afraid of him to do anything. Due to Cell refusing to give them his knife or share his food, Pac and Mike started to starve during their time in the island, with Cell knowing this, and giving Guaxinim food while the duo were close to him so they would find out and start distrusting each other.
While Pac was searching for food, Cell told him not to trust Mike, lying that he wanted to betray Pac, with him ending the conversation by saying that he would give him his knife if he killed Mike, as well as an apple that he had. After finding Mike talking with Guaxinim, Pac would go talk to Cell and ask him for his knife so he could finish Mike off, but he refused, saying that he took too long to decide, before giving him an apple.
That night, a fight between Mike and Pac, where Mike would stab Pac, but after the trio told each other how each of them talked with Cell, they realize that he had been manipulating them so they would kill each other. Because of this, they decide to create a plan to trick Cell into thinking that they chose Mike as the one to be killed and bring him to a cave where they would trap him.
But before they could do it the next day, a police helicopter appeared, resulting in them having to hide for hours until they left the island, with Cell then saying that after the boat was finished being remade, he would kill one of the trio before leaving the island. After they chose Mike, Cell decided that he would have Pac and Guaxinim fight Mike to the death for his amusement, with him giving Mike his knife to make it more entertaining.
Mike then came up with the idea to give Cell back his knife, lying that he wanted to fight the two with his bare hands, with Guaxinim then telling him after this that he needed Mike's help to get wood for the boat. Sometime later, Guaxinim came back, lying that he brought Mike to the cave so Cell would kill him for them. They then went to the cave, with Cell finding out about the button that the duo was going to push to trap him there.
Because of this, Cell forced Pac and Guaxinim to go to the cave and pressed the button. However, instead of closing off the cave, it fell stone around Cell, trapping him in the entrance. The trio then left him there, with a gunshot being heard while they were leaving the island.
Impossible Escape 2[]
Set three years after the events of the original series, Cell makes no appearances outside of the previous season's recap. However, during Pac's interrogation, it's hinted that Cell did truly take his own life, due to one of the officers mentioning that in the island "the crazy man was gone" while Pac, Mike and Guaxinim escaped.
In Other Media[]
Chume Labs 2[]
In the episode of Chume Labs 2, which is not canon to the series, Gutin was watching Fuga Impossível, and in order to see the characters more closely, decided to make a Portal to a fake version of it, but it resulted in a copy of Cell getting through the portal, who took Gutin hostage and sent his gang to attack Chume Labs.
After stopping the members of his gang and finding out what was going on, Pac and Mike confront Cell's copy, where he tells them that he's going to kill Gutin as revenge for leaving him in the island. However, after they told him that he was not real and was just a copy, Cell went mad, yelling that he needed to get back to his world.
While going to the portal, Pac asks him about what will happen in Fuga Impossível 2, but he doesn't answer, with Mike believing that is something not even Cell's copy knows. When at the Portal, they try to convince Cell to become a nicer person and trust Mike, although he tells them that he knows they are tricking him and that they won't be able to defeat him before jumping through the portal.
Personality[]
At the beginning of the series, Cell is a weird prisoner with psychotic tendencies, but he initially seems to be a friendly person. However, throughout the series, he shows a more sadistic side, taking pleasure in killing people. This pleasure is shown when he kills officer Felps and the leader of the Japanese gang. Despite being psychotic, Cell is very smart, being able to find out about Pac, Mike, and Jv's plan to escape Alcatraz, and finding out about Guaxinim's trap in seconds. Pac and Mike were surprised by this and even called him very smart for it. Cell is also shown to be ruthless, as he killed Jv for lying and left Pac and Mike to stay in Alcatraz for the same reason. Despite threatening to kill Pac, Mike, and Guaxinim many times, he never keeps those words, knowing he needs them so he can escape. After being tricked by Pac, Mike and Guaxinim, Cell is shown to be a coward, begging for them not to abandon him on the island.
Trivia[]
- Cell's gang name, Rayquaza, references the Pokemon of the same name.
