Chara’s original ghost design was solid black with white outlines. They had glowing red eyes and a grey pixelated aura.
Redesign:[]
Chara’s ghostly redesign had them appear in only shades of red, which contrasted against the rest of the comic, which was mostly black and white (exceptions usually are related to determination, such as Frisk’s Spark Of Unique Life, and Hermann’s head and hands).
Possessing Frisk:[]
While possessing Frisk, Chara took on the appearance of frisk, but with glowing red eyes.
Possessing Sans:[]
While possessing Sans, Chara takes on the appearance of Sans, albeit with glowing red eyes. An interesting thing to note is that bone attacks appear red when they are used.

Chara takes the appearance of a human skeleton in a blue knitted outfit and hat with yellow accents.

Chara takes the appearance of an adult with a tan shirt, brown pants, and a brown cape with a golden clasp.

Chara takes the form of a skeleton monster with red hair. They wear a yellow sweater with a green stripe and brown pants.

Human[]
When Chara was a human they were kidnapped by pirates, before escaping to live on the streets. This caused them to believe that humans are bad and monsters are good.
Ghost[]
as a ghost Chara believes that the world has to be destroyed, and will do anything to convince Frisk that it is true.
Skeleton[]
After their resurrection Chara realizes that the world is more complicated than just black and white. Chara is afraid that they might act like they did as a ghost, and refuses to give Sans a reason to forgive them. Chara is more mature than the other kids because of their experiences. Chara enjoys hanging out with Asriel.

Biography:[]
Background:[]
As a child, Chara was kidnapped by pirates and taken from Ireland. They ended up killing the pirates in their sleep. After killing the pirates they ended up in Canada, where they had to struggle to survive. Eventually they fell into the underground, where they were raised by The Dreemurr family. The kindness of the monsters convinced Chara to kill the humans and free the monsters. Chara convinced Asriel to help them cross the barrier and kill the humans. Asriel had second thoughts and they both died. While Chara was dead they witnessed the worst in monsters, causing them to believe that the world had to die.
Previous Timeline:[]
Many years later Frisk fell into the underground awakening Chara from death. Chara convinced Frisk to allow them to take control. They gaslighted and manipulated Frisk to keep control. They then killed everyone in their path. Sans and Gaster’s collective efforts helped Frisk take back control of their body before committing suicide, effectively stopping Chara. Frisk then reset the timeline.
Red Echoes[]
In this arc Chara is first seen Trapped in the void because of Frisk’s actions in the previous timeline. Chara escaped the void when Sans pulled his father out of the void.
Later in the arc they attempted to possess Frisk again, only to be stopped by Sans. Chara possesses Sans while he is distracted, and then tries to murder Toriel. While the main characters were distracted, Chara Attempted to kill Monster Kid and possess Frisk again. Chara was stopped by the River Reaper. Eventually Chara forced Sans to relive his worst memories. Chara was Stopped when the askers gave Sans the power to weaponize his imagination. Frisk convinces Sans to spare Chara, only for them to attempt to kill Sans. That act causes Papyrus to chase Chara off.
Sweet Dreams and Nice Creams[]
Chara appears three times to argue with the askers that they weren’t responsible for goopster’s arrival, that they would stalk whoever they wanted, and flipped off an Asker when he asked for them to do something.
Chara later refuses to tell an Asker where they are, nor what they were doing, because that would defeat the purpose of a secret plan.
Chara claims that they no longer care about Asriel, which may or may not be true at this point in the story.
Their next appearance in this arc had them reveal that the cruelty of the people in the world is the reason that they believed that the world had to die.
They then have a vision of Asriel which leaves them shaken
Char later tried to convince Frisk that the world needs to die, before Asriel tried to convince Chara otherwise. Seeing Asriel freaked Chara out and they left.
Extra Dark Chocolate:[]
In this arc Chara encounters Maverick and engages the askers, and him in a conversation.
Dance Dance Education/ ¡Eclipse Total![]
Chara warns Paolo not to mess with their plans, before visiting their alternate counterpart. Chara attempts to convince him of the problems of the world. Chara then possesses Bottles. They stumble around for a while, because Drunk!Chara was drunk. The askers take advantage of this and trick Chara into hugging Flowey, temporarily transforming him into Asriel. Chara then tries to kill him with a lamp, but is stopped by Maverick Chaosdragon. Chara then questions Bottles about why they can’t even walk straight before realizing that they are drunk. They attempt to kill Frisk’s counterpart, but fail. When Frisky Bits attempts to spare them Chaos Askers attempt to convince Chara to kill him. Chara, shaken by their talk with Bottles, flees.
The Most Fabulous Place on Earth:[]
After possessing bottles Chara suffers from guilt-induced amnesia. They start to remember events from the past, which scares them. Eventually, with help from the askers they fuse with Callaleid’s body, becoming a skeleton monster. They move in with the main cast, with help from Asriel

- Chara’s favorite type of chocolate is extra dark chocolate, which lead to the name of the arc.
- Chara’s last report card (in the form of Callalied), has an A in math, an A in English, an A in history, a B in Science, a C in art, and a C+ in art.
- Chara hates white chocolate on its own, but they like cookies and cream bars and view it is the only acceptable form of white chocolate.
